Michelle's POV
"I'm not finding squat" I announced to Hudson, Broadway, and Brooklyn. The four of us were looking for clues from the Tribunal attack earlier.
"Same here" Broadway responded.
"Have you had any luck lads and lass?" Hudson called out. I swore when I saw hunters coming our way.
"We got company!" I yelled. "Hunters!"
Brooklyn quickly pushed me aside as laser rounds were fired at us. I took my phoenix form and protectively guarded Hudson while my mate and Brooklyn dealt with the hunters. Amid the chaos a laser round hit a vulnerable part of my wing and I shrieked out in pain. But now I was pissed so I charged at the hunters and gave the assholes a well-deserved scorching.
The burns were only made to irritate human flesh and not cause any serious damage but they would hurt like hell for a while and the bastards fled. I then reverted to my human form and Brooklyn caught me in his arms.
"Firebird your arm"
I looked at my left arm and it was bleeding. Brooklyn hissed in anger before looking for something to wrap my arm up with.
"Here lad" Hudson tossed my mate some bandages and soon my arm was covered up.
Hudson then held his head as though he were in pain and Broadway went over to make sure the older gargoyle was okay. The stubborn gargoyle reassured Broadway he was fine but said he wasn't ready to head back to the Eyrie just yet.
"You're going back to the Eyrie, Firebird" Brooklyn said as he picked me up into his arms. "Can't let that arm get infected"
"Alright handsome" I agreed.
"Dang I really need a mate of my own" Broadway muttered feeling left out.
Brooklyn chuckled at his friend.
"You and Angela seem to be getting along well"
"Well dang you caught me"
"Hold the phone since when did you get together with Angela?!" I exclaimed as the two gargoyles opened their wings.
"We've been together for a while" Broadway confessed. "I've been too shy to admit it"
"Nah you two look cute together" I reassured the teal-colored gargoyle.
Broadway blushed and it wasn't long until we were in the sky. We returned to the Eyrie with no trouble and Brooklyn tended to my arm.
"No one hurts my Firebird" my mate stated after he finished wrapping my arm up. I gave Brooklyn a thank you kiss in return. Dawn was soon approaching and Broadway was talking with Goliath.
"Michelle, how is your arm?" Serenity's mate questioned.
"Better now thanks to Brooklyn"
My mate placed his head on my shoulder and I kissed his cheek. Hannah then kissed Lex on the forehead before the gargoyles went to their usual spots to sleep.
Next Day Before Sunset
Serenity's POV
"Those assholes are going to get a serious burning for hurting you" I growled as Michelle, Hannah, and I climbed up towards the Eyrie. Eden was with my parents again because I wanted to help find Hudson. Michelle and Hannah said he didn't return before dawn this morning.
"Hey guys, you look better-rested sis" Noah greeted us.
"I slept better last night after Goliath left, he took care of Eden for a bit" I answered my twin as the sun began its descent.
No sooner had the light faded did everyone wake up from their slumber. Goliath then turned to look at Noah.
"Noah any news on Hudson?"
"Nothing but I'm sure he's alright, but all of you should know in five hours we're transporting that hunter to Riker's"
"Good riddance" I hissed. "They hurt Michelle"
Goliath placed his hands on my shoulders trying to get me to calm down.
"Hey I already gave them a minor scorching Serenity" Michelle explained and that made me calm down. I then backed away and transformed into my dragon form. I looked to Goliath and my Beloved of Night took flight first and the rest of us followed.
Ezekiel's POV
"Oh my gosh," I said as I saw the elderly gargoyle standing before me and Cornelia. I was an Ophthalmologist and earlier a friend and patient of ours Jeffrey brought in our current patient. Apparently, the sight in his good eye wasn't doing well.
"Hold on a minute you're a dragon shifter" the gargoyle realized. I gave the gargoyle named Hudson a smile. "Yes and I am a member of the Queen's clan, I believe Serenity Grey is also part of yours?"
Hudson smiled at me in return.
"Aye she is"
Cornelia and I then had Hudson and Jeffrey follow us inside of the clinic. The two of us ran some tests on Hudson and it wasn't long until we got a diagnosis.
"Are you saying there's hope for me?" Hudson wondered.
"Yes there is"
"While we can't do anything about your left eye, your right one is showing early stages of glaucoma, and the good news it's treatable"
"Glaucoma? What is that?"
"It's a condition that can cause blindness but when caught early like yours the chances of keeping your vision is high, so in better terms Hudson your right eye is going to be fine"
The older gargoyle was relieved when he heard that news. Cornelia went to find our colleague so we could prep for surgery.
"Lad what is your name I never got it when we met outside"
"It's Ezekiel"
"I like your name lad it's unique wait a minute I think Serenity mentioned you, your trying to court another gargoyle aren't you?"
"If you're referring to Demona then yes I do wish to court her, but I'm waiting for her decision on whether she is interested in pursuing anything"
"I like you, lad"
Cornelia came back with our colleague Carrie and soon we went into surgery. Despite being a gargoyle Hudson's surgery went well and now all he had to do was wake up from the anesthesia. He eventually did and we gave him the good news the surgery was successful and he would be able to take his bandages off tomorrow night. Hudson thanked us and Cornelia went to get a follow-up on the prescription that Hudson would need.
However, she and Carrie hurried back into the room.
"We got to get you out of here right now, there are hunters here looking for Hudson"
Immediately my inner dragon roared and his tail swished in anger.
"They might also be hunting me too, I am a dragon after all"
"Lad I can hear fight in your voice, I may not be able to see but I can still hear what do you say in helping me and Jeffrey dealing with these Tribunal fools"
"Oh count me in" I agreed. I then turned to my colleagues. "You two get to safety"
"Alright but be careful" Cornelia advised and after shooting her a grin did she and Carrie leave. The first thing we did was turn out the lights.
We heard the hunters fussing about not being able to see in the dark. Then a laser blast was heard and the bastards set the clinic on fire.
Hudson sniffed the air and mumbled about the hunters not playing with fire. The emergency sprinklers turned on and the flames got extinguished. Hudson then suggested I knock something over to get the hunter's attention.
I pushed an empty hospital bed into a nearby wall and the hunters began to panic. Jeffrey kicked some tanks over making most of the hunters fall over. Hudson then got on his feet and charged forward and grabbed hold of the hunter who was about to be transported to Riker's. The bastard tried to electrocute Hudson but the older gargoyle outsmarted him.
The hunter was dropped in front of me and I grabbed hold of the jerk and held him in place.
"Let me go you disgusting reptile"
"You threatened a patient of mine, you're the disgusting one" I hissed making sure the hunter saw my glowing eyes.
Serenity's POV
Goliath, Angela, and I landed outside of the hospital. I reverted to my human form as Noah explained a lot of Tribunal Hunters went to jail tonight. Hudson stood beside his friend Jeffrey and we all breathed a sigh of relief. His eyes were bandaged up and it looked like I had been right about Glaucoma.
On the way back to the Eyrie the older gargoyle explained what happened. I was relieved to hear his right eye was going to be okay and thanks to Ezekiel and his colleagues he wouldn't go blind. Yeah, I left out Ezekiel was an Ophthalmologist.
Later.
Back at Apartment
Still Serenity's POV
"I'm relieved that Hudson won't go blind permanently," Goliath said.
"That's the good thing about modern medicine"
Eden had finished nursing and I winced as her fangs left my breast. I gave her to Goliath after she was burped since he liked putting her on his shoulder. My Beloved of Night then winced slightly and I almost laughed because Eden had her claws out and she held onto her father hard.
"Her claws are sharper than mine," Goliath said.
"It's her dragon claws, remember my Beloved of Night she's a quarter dragon"
Goliath chuckled before affectionately rubbing our daughter on the back and we both watched as Eden fell asleep. I let my Beloved of Night put our daughter to bed since it was a habit of his. While my mate was distracted I changed into my night clothes and met with Goliath back out in the living room. I wore a tank top and simple pajama shorts.
"Aw damn it" I muttered.
"What is it my love?"
"My back just itches that's all"
"I can remedy that my Warrior of Flame"
The male gargoyle had me come over to him and had me turned around. He covered my entire body with his wings before lifting my tank top up a bit and he began to scratch the areas that itched with his claws. My back felt better and Goliath lowered my tank top back down. He snaked one arm around my waist and I blushed as he pressed a kiss between my neck and shoulder.
"My beautiful warrior" Goliath purred before giving my neck a light nip of his fangs. I gave the gargoyle a growl and Goliath chuckled before he gave me what I wanted which was a kiss.
"I don't have to go to bed yet, and I wanted to introduce you to Jurassic Park"
"I tried reading the book but couldn't get into it, if your suggesting a movie then consider me interested"
"We'll have to keep the volume down so Eden doesn't wake up"
So my Beloved of Night and I watched the movie in question and I had to make my mate be quiet because he wouldn't stop asking questions.
