Chapter nineteen:

With Hikaru hiding in a room that is comfortable and Jiro knows that Edmon won't go into, Kaoru walks with Jiro where said man can see.

Kaoru slightly turns feeling some eyes on him and his eyes land upon Edmon who looks to him expectantly. He notices that no one else is around to even notice this look. He gives a small assuring nod as if telling Edmon that he will get it done.

Edmon nods softly before he heads off elsewhere disappearing from Kaoru's line of sight.

Kaoru turns away continuing on his way with Jiro where they enter a room where Jiro keeps his back turned to the younger twin. He quietly pulls out the container that his brother had brought in. He loads up the mixture within while Jiro talks keeping his back to him.

"You have been doing so well with your training despite the whole pandemic going on." Jiro sighs as he flips through a few papers. "If only we knew the cure to this thing. Though there is some new things that I wish to teach you." He speaks words that are only meant for anyone that is watching them.

Kaoru takes aim and though it feels wrong to do this he does pull the trigger knowing that everything is going to be okay.

They have a plan after all.

Just after pulling the trigger Kaoru is pulled back and a gas mask is slipped on him before he is lead away from the scene.

The two arrive to another room then the gas masks are removed from the both of them.

Edmon smiles at Kaoru who stares back at him. "Heh. Almost thought for a moment that you wouldn't go through with it." He slightly admits to the ginger haired boy. "Well taking that shot against your own mentor proves to me your dedication to this."

"I am hurt you doubted me in the first place." Kaoru manages to keep his cool as he raises the weapon to point it at the ceiling.

Edmon chuckles at this. "Well you proved to me that any doubt was very misplaced. Do not worry though. I fully intend on keeping up my end of the deal in all of this. How about a little taste of that paper I promised?" He hands Kaoru a torn piece of paper which is labeled as 'The Cure' with the rest of it missing. "Complete the rest of this mission and I will give you the rest. Just a little something to show you how serious I am about all of this."

"Thank you." Kaoru nods to this putting on his best serious face. "Though I am curious. Does the cure involve any ingredients of anything that infects the patients? I know that some cures do involve that so I thought that perhaps this could be the case. However with no idea what exact mixture you use I cannot say for sure that this may be the case."

Edmon lets out another chuckle upon hearing this question being posed to him. "I can see why Jiro decided to mentor you kid. You're still early in your training and yet you are quite knowledgeable. I am quite pleased that when this is all said and done then I will be able to mentor you myself. It'll be worth all of this work that the both of us will have to do to get there." He pats Kaoru on the shoulder before pulling his hand away.

"Well I think you will be a great mentor considering that you created quite the new illness for us to deal with. And not even the higher ups can figure out the cure. A true genius at work."

"There is no need for flattering. I am not any kind of Jiro." Edmon adjusts his collar attempting to look professional. "Though thank you, I appreciate your words."

Kaoru has a feeling that him flattering Edmon is indeed helping the other in trusting him in the long run. Which is exactly what he wants. He knows that in this situation the flattery was indeed needed to get what he needs from this man.

"Now allow me to pretend to find Jiro suddenly infected. You go ahead and hunt down the other higher ups." Edmon leaves the room after handing Kaoru the container with the rest of the ammo.

Kaoru slightly watches Edmon head on out and waits for a few moments after the other has gone to smile softly to himself. "This is working way too well." He almost feels unsettled from how well it is working. Though he is also reminded of the switcheroo type pranks he and his brother would pull. He remembers how growing up they'd test anyone who wanted to get close to them, especially anyone giving them love letters, by pretending to be the other. He also remembers how basically everyone had failed that test… Until Tamaki came around and truly showed that he was willing to befriend them by learning the slightest differences between them. He smiles softly to himself as he is glad that the idiotic blonde had come into his life.

That blonde opened up a whole new world and allowed the twins to step outside the boundaries they kept themselves locked within. He showed that there are indeed those out there that are worthy of being allowed a chance to become close. He provided them with a family neither twin had truly realized that they had needed, and yet now they can't live without. He truly is an amazing man, despite being one of the biggest lovable idiots the world has ever seen.

Kaoru blinks as the reminder of the side family that he and his brother became a part of causes him to remember something else that he had been meaning to do. He turns to the doorway with determination and heads off after concealing the weapon. He notices the other higher ups and some other healers helping Jiro who is now clearly infected.

"Somehow he got infected. Maybe he stepped too close to someone infected or didn't wash himself properly. Either way we need to keep him to a room stat." Edmon commands pushing to take charge of the situation, despite that there are higher ranking members present at the scene.

Kaoru heads away from there and since there are other healers then he knows that Edmon will be understanding about Kaoru not yet infecting the others. He makes a little solution then gets himself dressed. He heads to a very specific room and approaches the bed where he gazes upon the one who occupies the bed in this very room. "I don't care if I will get in trouble for this. It will all be worth it in the end. And I know that they'll understand." He gives the solution to the patient then steps back awaiting the results to show themselves.

For the solution to take effect.
