AracadiaMaxwellValentine: I meant that Dudley was his metaphorically "brother", it made sense in my head. I hope that cleared it up and I apologize for the confusion!

Once a reader: Thank you for all the support, it will be intriguing to find out how Mrs. Weasley reacts, hmmmmm, it will be fun, that's all I can say!

The Letters:

Four school letters gently fell on top of the burrow kitchen table. The mood immediately changed. Hermione eagerly grabbed hers and ripped it open. Ron did the same while Harry grabbed his with shaky hands. He tried to keep his cool. It had been a really hard few weeks for him, the disease, and the mysterious adoption. It didn't add up. Yet, he didn't have the heart to tell his best friends yet, not even Ginny of whom he admired very much.

"Harry? Are you gonna open yours?" Ron asked, bringing Harry out of his thoughts. Harry stared at the letter. He had never had trouble opening it in the past but now, it seemed much harder.

"Uh yeah, sorry," Harry replied. His voice shook and his hands trembled. His hands were exceedingly pale, he looked like dead.

"Oh ok, are you ok?"

"Yeah, just tired"

Hermione quickly looked away; she had felt very guilty for waking up Harry. But she was angry, very angry. Ron had always taken advantage of her sister, esacically when it came to his brothers. It had always angered Hermione for years, but today, she just snapped, everything came out. The feelings in her stomach were playing a tug of war, her insides felt twisted. She decided to direct her thoughts and feelings towards her letter. What she saw, immediately changed her aspect of the day's events.

"I'm a Prefect! Wow!" She exclaimed. She couldn't believe it! A Prefect was the ultimate job students could acquire. It was an honor, an honor she would take very seriously. Ron stared at his, he was also a Prefect.

"Me to," Ron muttered with ultimate surprise and curiosity. The badge fell unto his lap, it was shiny and big. Very big. Ron looked over at Harry, Harry's face was even more confused.

"What's wrong? Don't think I would make a very good Prefect?" Ron said with a snort of laughter. Leave it to Harry to make really weird judgements about things. Harry shook his head, he looked awful. Ron hadn't really noticed his friends' physical appearances; he learned this method many years ago. Living with his brothers really changed who he was.

"No, I think you'll make a perfect Prefect Ron. Its just…"

"Just what, wait are you a Prefect to?"

Hermione snorted, "Ron you know that there is only two Prefects every year in each house, right?"

Ron waved her off, "Yes Hermione but with Harry, you never know." Harry smiled a bit and clenched his letter extra hard; his knuckles were turning white.

"What is it Harry, spit it out mate!"

Harry looked down at his letter, it was probably best. The only problem was that he hadn't read the entire thing, only a few sentences. What stumped him was the badge that fell on top of his lap. He held up the badge to his friends. Part of him was nervous, with his sickness of everything, could he even play Quidditch? He knew that he wouldn't be able to even sit on his broom on the ground, let alone 50 feet in the air. But he had to, he wanted this year to be normal. Normal as he could even get it.

"Wow! You're the Quidditch Captain!" Ginny said with pure joy. She was going to go for the Quidditch team this year.

"Yea I guess so"

"What does the rest of your letter say," Hermione asked. She had neatly folded her letter back up and set it across from her on the table. Harry looked down at his letter, it was now or never.

"I haven't read my letter yet"

"Well read it mate!"

Harrys hands trembled as he opened his letter. The lettering looked normal; he scanned the letter. To his relief, there was no mention of sickness or needing to get treatment at Hogwarts. Harry was determined to keep it that way.

Harry let out a deep breath, nobody except his aunt and cousin knew. Ron was on the edge of his seat.

"Sooooo, what does it say? Anything about us?"

"Sorry Ron but no. It just talked about the Quidditch captain stuff and the basic booklist. Who do you think

Ron chuckled, "Dang a personal note from Professor Mcgonagall, you must be extra special." Harry slapped Ron on the arm, "Whatever," Harry muttered. He hated attention, but yet, he attracted a lot of it. The mood in the room went uneasy, Hermione had a sick look on her face while Ron and Ginny were laughing about who knows what. Harry just sat; he didn't want to laugh right now. For some reason, the stress in the room increased more and more. No one except Hermione and Harry seemed to notice. Hermione huffed and stormed out of the room; Harry noticed tears coming down her face. What happened that had made Hermione cry in such short time? Harry needed to know. He quickly got up and made an excuse about using the bathroom, found the front door and sat down next to Hermione. Hermione's head was in her hands, small sobs shook her body. Harry rubbed small circles on her back. He wanted to help.

"Hermione, you are you alright?" Harry asked. The outside was nice, the breeze brought encouraging vibes while the stream brought thoughts of summertime and adventures. It took almost a minute before Harry got a response from Hermione.

"Yeah, I'm just swell" Hermione replied. More tears feel down her face. Her face was very pale, her hands shook with every movement. She wasn't fine, she was the opposite. Yet, she couldn't tell anyone, the letter only reminded her of her problem. She was alone. Harry sensed some discomfort, and he did the only thing he knew what to do. He held her close, she snuggled into his chest.

"Hey Harry, promise me that you or Ron will never leave me"

Harry smiled, he only hugged her harder, "I promise Hermione, I promise"

Harry and Hermione sat like that together for a good hour. None of them felt the need to rush the moment, it was just right. The wind brushed their faces, their heartbeats were heard with faint thumps. Harry kept providing encouraging words to Hermione, it eased her that someone at least cared about her. Ron eventually came out and joined them, they all hugged each other tightly. The trio spent hours and hours outside, just taking in the moment. They didn't come in until nightfall. Before the trio parted ways, Ron held Hermione's hand.

"Hey its going to be ok"

Harry was next, "Tomorrow is going to be a better day." Hermione smiled; she really was the luckiest girl in the world. She had amazing friends who cared about her, and even more that would sacrifice their life for her. Once they parted ways, Ron and Harry climbed into their soft and fluffy beds. Before bed though, Ron walked over to Harry's bed and sat down.

"Ron, are you ok?" Harry asked as he struggled to sit up.

"Yes, mate but I wanted to say thank you"

"For what?"

"For doing what I couldn't do, comforting Hermione"

Harry smiled, "Of course"

Before both boys went to bed that night, Ron said one thing that would stick with Harry forever.

"Harry, you really are an amazing person, your parents would be so proud of you."
