Author's Note: Here is basically a TLDR. It's been 9 Months, I know ever since about Episode 15 that my pace in uploading has been horrible. Depression, and work. That's basically why. I won't make this too long, so let's just sit back, and possibly enjoy the Finale of Total Drama Double Down. Also, spoiler there is another season coming after this. WOOP-DE-DOO.

I'm not sure how many of you actually stuck around and knew that this story existed the entire duration of that hiatus. But if you did, thanks for sticking around, and I hope you can join me next time.

"Last Time on Total Drama Double Down."

"None of our lucky Final 4 campers could even begin to scheme, because as soon as they were woken up, they were hit with a vote! Those votes? From the Eliminated Campers! Carol didn't even get a vote, and Marshal threw a single vote at Laurie just because he could."

"It turns out it was a battle between Liz and Jared, who had the most enemies? Who had their dose of karma coming straight at them? In a 9 to 8 vote, it turns out it was Jared. Apparently betraying two allies, and openly planning to betray more doesn't exactly help your chances of survival."

"Then in the Final 3 it was time for the actual challenge! Back to the gauntlet they went. 10 challenges they needed to complete, all for a ball they must bring into an elevator to score points. Carol got off to a nice 3-1-0 lead, but both Laurie and Liz would rally back to tie it up 3-all going into the final 10th challenge. Even though Carol and Liz were working together, Laurie was determined to win this. In the end, it was Liz shoving Carol to the wayside to grab the final flag for herself, securing a Finale spot in the process."

"Choosing who joined her in the Finale, Liz surprisingly kept her end of the deal made long ago early in this competition with Carol, taking her as Laurie ends up in 3rd. With this duo pulling through to make it into the Finale, the question is, who will win? We'll find that out now! On Total! Drama! Double Down!"

Chris stood by his lonesome on the docks, smirking at the camera as he began to walk from one side to the other. "Well, this is it folks! The Finale of Total Drama Double Down. We've been through highs and lows with this season, but we've finally reached the ending point. Between Liz and Carol, we've gone from 22, to just 2, all of them were merely steppingstones compared to the "Cute Killer." that is Liz, and the "Loveable Hero" that is Carol. Both of them had different, but in ways identical paths to the Finale, and now both of them are going to battle it out for a million dollars!"

It was early in the morning, and surprisingly Chris hadn't blared a loud siren in their ears to wake up early for the Finale. No, they had woken up on their own, and even then, Chris had yet to announce a challenge.

Liz was on one side of the top-bunk, while Carol was on the other side in front of her. Liz wasn't doing much, just looking over at Carol. Usually, Carol would have been reading a comic in this time of boredom, but she knew Liz was looking at her and waiting for something, and honestly Carol knew it wasn't exactly the time for comics. Carol looked at her untouched stack of comic books off to the side, before the sound of Liz snapping her fingers brought her attention to her.

Liz had a small smirk, currently pointing at Carol before making a `Well?` type of gesture with her hand. "I told you; I'd bring you to the Finale." She said,

Carol responded back with a smile, replying, "I know, I know. Thank you for even giving me this chance Liz. You know, back in Blast from the Past I didn't think I'd ever make it far, and I was just happy that I wasn't eliminated first. It was mostly the same for this season as well, but here I am, in the Finale. A lot of it was thanks to your help…Speaking of your help..."

Liz was just listening, nodding along before realizing where Carol was going with the statement she was making. She briefly sighed, almost rolling her eyes before saying, "Yes, I know the way I played the game was a bit much. But I had to do what I had to do to get us here. It was nothing personal-"

"I get that! I'm not saying it's wrong, or that I hate it or anything. It's just, you know…you kept it so well hidden away from mostly everyone, me specifically too! I never even realized it until well, it was literally told to my face." Carol chuckled as she said that last part, trying to remember if there was even a point where she could've connected the dots without hindsight.

"In any case, we're here in the Finale right now. You're my friend Carol, but you best believe I'm going to try my hardest to win that million."

"Oh yeah, no kidding." Carol instantly responded, kicking her legs over the side of her bed, before jumping down and stretching. "I'm just surprised Chris hasn't told us anything yet. You think he could have forgotten?"

Liz would scoff, having an almost mocking expression. "Yeah, like Chris would forget to do the Finale."

"Hey, you never know!" She quickly replied, shrugging as she'd look away and scratch the back of her neck in embarrassment. Before anything else could be said between them, the cabin door was kicked off its hinges, making a resounding thud and scaring the absolute hell out of the both of them. A towering figure would walk in, but it wasn't Chef.

"Yo! What's up in here." Marshal said, picking up the door he just kicked down, laying it on top of a random bunk. "Hope you ain't miss me too much."

"Chris said we could just stop by; he didn't say anything about kicking the damn door down." Carlita would reprimand him, being the next one to have walked in, along with Adam, Laurie, Tina, Damian, Lucy, and Samantha.

"Did Chris just restart the game? Everyone back in now?" Liz said, crossing her arms and leaning back on the bed she was still lying in.

Adam was next to speak up. "Unfortunately, no. We were just sent back onto the Island about 45 minutes ago I'd say. We're here to watch the final challenge take place."

"We're rooting for you Carol, make sure to win." Samantha said, though it almost seemed like she was demanding her to win, stuffing her hands into her pockets.

Carol would nod. "I'll try my best!"

"I don't know what you mean by we're, I'm pulling for Liz instead." Marshal would say, "So, you best try your hardest to win out there Lil Demon."

"Lil Demon?..." Liz would slowly repeat, raising a brow. "That's the nickname you're giving me?"

"Shit, I mean you sure acted like it in those confessionals."

"Mmm…." Liz just hummed as a response, not really having a retort to that. Glancing over at Carol, she could tell that they were now thinking about what Marshal had said. Liz grumbled to herself; she didn't need to hear about what she had done in the season every single time.

"So, what's it like at uh, Playa Des Losers. Or is that not a thing this time?" Carol asked.

"It's 100 times better than this place. I almost want to say it was worth not even getting the million it was so good!" Tina said, laughing as she would sit down on one of the beds. "Though I think that's coming to an end today, so good luck to the both of you."

"Getting 2nd would be tragic honestly. Not only do you not even get the million, but you don't even get to stay a day at the resort either." Damian would add on, taking a seat on one of the lower bunkbeds along with Lucy. Lucy, meanwhile, hadn't even said anything, and really isn't thinking of saying anything either. She's content with just lying in her old bed.

"I intend-" Before anything else could be said, the Intercom would screech alive, hurting everyone's eardrums with the horrible sound. For some reason, it felt as if the sound had lasted much longer than it ever did before. Everybody would cover their ears, even Lucy.

"Pain." Laurie gave just a one-word comment, one that everyone agreed with.

"Liz! Carol!" Chris's voice through the Intercom echoed throughout the Island. "And the rest of all you losers. It's challenge time! Meet me by the docks, we'll be finding out who the last one standing will be."

"Well, that's us." Carol would glance down at the door Marshal had knocked over, chuckling at the sight of it as she'd walk by it.

"Nah, that's me, sit down." Marshal would joke, causing some more laughter from Carol. Liz took in a deep breath to calm her ever so growing nerves, using the ladder to get down from the top bunk.

"Alright, let's go." Liz would follow behind Carol, as everybody else would start to leave along with them, Lucy slowly sitting up in her bed, before rolling over and getting up.

Liz's Confessional.

"This is it, the Finale. I refuse to let my strategy and hard work go to waste by failing to win this." Liz took in a deep breath, shutting her eyes momentarily before staring into the camera. Liz would say, "I don't have much else to say. I've manipulated my way here, I won a challenge, and I managed to bring my ally to the Finale. I've played this game about as perfect as you could."

Carol's Confessional.

"I've talked enough about how I didn't think I'd get this far, but I need to focus on actually trying to win!" Carol had a determined look in her eyes as she'd clench her fists slightly, looking down at her ankle. "My ankle feels fine, I haven't had pain in it for a while now. I actually thought I'd be competing in the rest of the show crippled since the doc said it was a severe sprain. But maybe he could've been mistaken? I don't think severe sprains heal that quickly. In any case, I'm just glad I'm at 100%, and I'll be trying my hardest."

Liz and Carol, along with the few eliminated campers that had gone to meet them, eventually made their way to the docks. On the docks, was Chris, and behind him was a giant TV. With a smirk, he'd point to the side off onto the sand, pointing towards the bleachers, along with the challenge that was to be done soon.

"Losers, make your way over to the spectator's area and join your friends." Chris said, as the camera panned over to the rest of the eliminated campers. Blake would stand up in the background, waving to them.

"Hey guys." Blake said.

"Riveting." Samantha sarcastically mumbled, being the first to step off of the docks and onto the sand, walking over to the bleachers. Everybody else, besides Carol and Liz of course, would follow Samantha in leaving. Laurie took a second though, turning around to put a hand up to Carol.

"Goodluck Carol." She'd say, as Carol would smile, giving Laurie a cheerful high five in response.

"Thank you." Carol replied. Laurie then turned her attention to Liz, deciding to also give her a high five as she walked over to them.

"You too Liz, good luck." Laurie said, as Liz nodded, giving her a quick high five.

"Thanks." Her response was brief, now completely focused on what Chris had to say.

"Alright! Liz, Carol. Welcome to your Final Challenge…" Chris announced, holding a pause momentarily, before quickly commenting, "Which I will explain after this short intermission." With a smirk, he'd pull out a button, turning the giant television slightly more towards the bleachers so they could see. The first scene brought up would be Jaylyn, Sarah, Carol, and Liz all together in the cabin. This would be technically the point the alliance was made.

Blake would clear his throat rather loudly, proclaiming, "This was supposed to be my segment by the way." But alas, the response he got should've been expected.

"Nobody cares Blake." Carlita remarked. Not in an aggressive manner like early in the season, but more in a blunt way that mostly held merit. Nobody actually cared. Blake though just shrugged it off.

"Alright. Continue." Blake would do a slight bow, getting more comfortable in his seat.

[Episode 3]
"It can turn into an alliance after this elimination." Jaylyn whispered. "We will be broken apart, Liz, you can join with Carol...If you're both fine with that."

"I am." Carol stated.

"Sure." Liz replied.

"Alright...I guess this is officially an alliance." Jaylyn whispered.

[Episode 5]
"Alright then, second thing." Blaineley raises two fingers. "An Idol is now in play." She announced.

"What?!" Blake exclaimed, before sniffing once, and scratching his head. "Well."

"Like, an Immunity one?" Marshal asked, as Blaineley nodded.

"Yeah, I almost forgot to tell you."

Liz smirks just a bit, and the camera would make sure to zoom in on her.

"Maybe we should search...and find them too." Liz suggested innocently to Carol, which she shrugs.

"Sure, why not." Carol responded. "Which way should we go though?" She'd then ask.

"Is dead-ahead not the only way?" Liz tries to persuade.

"That might be too obvious..."

Liz stopped herself from rolling her eyes, and just nodded instead. "Okay. Let's try flanking them."

"Go around the forest?" Carol replied, clearly thinking and trying to come up with something herself.

"Let's just move around the outskirts of it." Liz and Carol enter the forest.

"That's when Liz went looking for the Idol isn't it. Carol, how did you not realize that?" Clara would speak up.

"Hey! It's easy to say that in hindsight, okay? I wasn't even thinking of the Idol." Carol tried to explain herself.

"So, is this gonna be our next challenge?" Liz asked, looking at the partially built Sweeper. But Liz isn't really focusing on that, as she looks everywhere in the forest that she can see with her eyes.

"Most likely." Carol responded, "I'm remembering that Obstacle Course challenge I did before."

"We should be able to win that and this challenge." Liz said, looking at one particular spot in the forest. "But we should really be continuing on."

"Yeah, guess so." Carol agreed, "Maybe we should start looking for hiding spots?"

"Sure."

The footage would flash, jumping to a different point in the same episode.

Carol sighs, "Well then, guess we gotta go now." Carol said, before turning around.

"W-Wait." Liz stopped her. "I...want to check out the challenge we're gonna do next again.."

"Um...alright then."

"Oh my god Carol." Damian laughed slightly, facepalming before looking up at her. "I never really watched the episodes back when I got eliminated, but she was kind of making it obvious right there."

"Yeah…I know." Carol would drop her head, hiding a small smirk as she'd chuckle in embarrassment.

"I would've figured out she was looking for it if I was there, cause I would've been looking for it too." Blake would say.

Liz's Confessional.

Liz is just seen smiling at the camera with her arms behind her back. She slowly moves her right arm out, but her hand is still behind her back...Eventually, she shows it to the camera.

It's the Chris Immunity Idol.

Liz giggles slightly, and mouths 'I know' before playfully zipping her lips.

"She found the Idol in the first episode it was mentioned in. That's busted." Isabelle was mostly joking with that statement. "Are we sure nobody gave her a tracker or anything?"

"She lucked out. That Idol is the only reason she even got to the Finale." Jared bitterly remarked, having his elbow on the seat in front of him as he boredly watched this premiere.

Liz only rolled her eyes, not feeling like replying to Jared's comments right now. She wouldn't even have to, as someone else did it for her.

Blake's laughter could be heard in the background. "Yeah okay, that's rich coming from you." He said, kicking his legs up as he'd almost lay back. "You wouldn't have even been in the Merge if Chris didn't save your ass. Cause let's be honest, Brianna most likely would've beaten you in any tie breaker."

"Tch." Jared would grumble. "Whatever."

[Episode 6]
Liz's Confessional.

Liz is up close and personal with the camera, with only being able to see her face with how close she is.

"Ok, you see...umm.." She whispered, almost like it's ASMR. "I hid the Idol under my bunk. Nobody is in the bunk above me anymore, so I possibly could've put it there, but you'd have to dig under my bunk to look for it, so it's a better place." She chuckles afterwards.

"And the reason why I'm whispering, is so nobody can hear me if they're trying to listen...not gonna Scott me." She then grinned. "Speaking of Scott, my plan is almost like his, but less trying to make my team lose. What I'm doing is trying to eliminate the 'Secondary Threats'" She does air-quotes on secondary threats.

"Meaning, not the obvious merge-threats like Marshal, or Damian, but the lesser ones like Sarah, or maybe even Carol. Everybody will obviously know Marshal is a huge-threat in the merge, and will try to take him out, no need to do it now. Another possible threat is Samantha, but eh."

Liz shrugs, and just gives a cute laugh. "I'll figure it out on the way to the million."

"Hm…" Carol would analyze that specific episode, glancing over at Liz. "So even that early in the game, you were thinking of possibly betraying me." She was disappointed to figure that out, not in anger, or in rage. Just disappointed. Of course, she was also thankful Liz never went through with that idea.

"It was early in the season, and as I've said before my plan wasn't as concrete back then." Now it was Liz's turn to try and explain herself. "In fact, I only caused one of the names I mentioned to be eliminated, and that was Samantha. Someone who was never in the alliance."

Speaking of Samantha, she had something new to say. "You mean the Idol was under your damn bed the ENTIRE TIME?" She said in a stupor, grumbling angrily to herself and sighing. "I swear I looked under there-So you mean all I had to do was crouch and I would've found it?"

"A few days later I put it in a different location, one that wouldn't be so obvious in a situation like that." Liz simply said, crossing her arms. "It was weeks until that challenge I'm thinking of, the one you didn't compete in. It's a good thing I did that too, you would've definitely found it if it was still there."

Samantha huffed, quickly calming down after hearing that. "Okay, good." The last thing she ever wanted to hear was that the Idol was under Liz's bunk the entire duration. Something that was so easy to check for.

Liz's Confessional.

Liz has a hand to her chin, although rather mockingly than actual thinking. "Sarah might be getting into the team's negative value. If I should take it as an initiative to vote her off, I don't know."

She also suddenly realized something. "Oh yeah! And if you're thinking, 'What if they vote me off next?' I'll obviously make sure to vote with the alliance, and say, take out a person like Samantha using...something." She winks at the camera.

"Oooooh!" She just got a second Idea. "Maybe, I can just do that instead, and maybe keep Sarah as vote-bait...Hmmmm."

"...I was still figuring out my gameplan." Was all Liz could come up with, glancing over at Carol, who was possibly the only one here listening to these for their first time.

"I get it Liz, I'm not mad or anything." Carol would brush it off, just watching and listening to everything being said. She'll figure out herself if what Liz had told her before was true, or false. Sarah meanwhile also didn't have much of a reaction, already having seen this back on Playa Des Losers.

"You know there's a lot more about Sarah, then there is about Carol I realized." Blake said, just because he wanted to point it out.

"I'm pretty sure Sarah has seen at least most of it." Liz replied, mostly to try and save face. She really did not want Carol to see the amount of times she had out loud insulted Sarah, or mentioned her in a ploy to get her eliminated.

"Indeed! It wasn't the best experience." Sarah said with mostly in-difference. Liz would glance at Sarah, before sighing and staring at the large television again. Briefly she felt very bad at the stuff she had said about Sarah, but was it just because she got caught? Or did she truly feel sorry. She had basically called herself out thinking about that, grumbling to herself.

[Episode 13]
"I've been hearing weird things the past few days..." Sarah whispered, beginning their little group meeting.

"Like...what?" Liz proceeded to ask.

"Well for one...Jaylyn told me to...'Watch my back.'" She quoted, as Liz barely twitched, but nothing noticeable. "Then at the Elimination...Samantha said both you and Damian would fall." She pointed at Liz. "I'm just wondering what both of them could mean."

"W-Well um..." Liz replied, squirming just a slight bit. "I-I'll be honest...Samantha didn't really like me all too much." Liz stated, which isn't exactly a lie.

"Really? She...I mean, I know she wasn't that sociable to most of us, but why wouldn't she like you?" Carol asked, which was a bit of a harmless question.

"I...think It may have to do with how I targeted their alliance..." Liz answered, "Taking out Mick and Lucy...Then she eventually got eliminated herself, she was probably bound to spill something to us."

"Ahuh...True." Carol nodded, agreeing and not really finding anything wrong. Sarah though, was just a bit on the fence, however seeing Carol agree was hard to ignore.

"I guess so." Sarah finally agreed. "We should still watch out though, Jaylyn could be trying to tell me something, we'll have to watch ourselves, okay?"

"Got it." Liz said.

"Absolutely." Carol also said.

"Great." Sarah rolls off the bed and lands on her feet, while Liz climbs down the ladder. "Well I'm going to photosynthesize." Sarah grabbed her hat off her Bunk, and opened the cabin door.

"Nice." Liz said simply, laying down on her bunk.

"Christ man if I had-Let me stop." Blake was about to start ranting, before cutting himself off and just shaking his head. "I wish it was that easy to manipulate the people on my own team. I would've had a much better time."

"It's a no-brainer that Liz would make the Finale when her alliance members were that dense." Carlita said, prompting a side eye from Sarah, though she would not respond to her. "She's shaking in the video, if you pressed her even a little bit she would've let something slip."

"Okay I wasn't completely flawless, I get it." Liz was frankly starting to get annoyed, rolling her eyes with a sigh. But I always did enough to secure my spot in the game. Besides that one time with Jared and Damian, but we do not talk about that."

[Episode 15]
Liz's Confessional.

Liz is tapping her chin, "I'm just seeing what I can possibly do to maybe fortify this alliance. I have the Idol, yeah, but I don't want to use it." She thought aloud,

"See, I know Carol is very loyal to me...But that is the only person I feel is that way. Damian and Jared obviously could turn on me at any-point, and so could Carol, but way less likely. Clara and Laurie? I just need one of them to switch, and the other will possibly come. Ingrid? Eh, she's probably easily changeable. That leaves Max, who really seems like she doesn't want to be in another alliance...Maybe Carol can change that."

"I can still give Liz props though, all of what she said was basically true. Carol was insanely loyal to her, Damian and Jared eventually did turn on her, and between Laurie and Clara if you got one vote, you'd most likely get the other. Ingrid was…there? And Carol eventually was the one that made Max change her entire mind. So good on her." Carlita listed off what Liz had said, going from insulting the way Liz handled pressure previously, to complementing how accurate her predictions were.

"Thanks." Liz said, giving a quick thumbs up.

"I'm surprised you're even able to find nice things to say, considering that conversation you two had in the forest before you were eliminated." Jaylyn would say, as Carlita only shrugged. She figured all of her explosive moments in the game were the only thing that was going to be brought up when her name was mentioned.

"I've been over it." Carlita replied.

[Episode 18, Part 1]
Liz's Confessional.

"Finale is in sight. I know, every other Camper knows, and all of you guys at home know that I worked the hardest to get to the Final 3 here. I do plan to take Carol to the Final 2 if possible, but if I end up facing Laurie in the Finale, so be it. Both of them are better at physical challenges, and I know for damn sure I'm losing a Vote, but I'm going to have to win these last challenges like my life depends on it."

[Episode 18, Part 2]
Liz's Confessional
"Now this choice is a bit tough." Liz cupped her hands together, "Both of them are Fighters, so, I'm screwed in that department a bit, and they're physically better than me I'll be honest. But as I just showed, now that I'm in the Finale, I don't care what it takes, but I'm winning it all. Carol? She's been so loyal to me. It's almost adorable, like a golden retriever." She would chuckle a bit to herself, "Get it? The Golden Retriever is more like it."

"Threw her own moniker right back at her, Liz." Mick said, barely audible to Liz and Carol from where he was at compared to them, but still able to be heard nonetheless.

"It wasn't even an insult; it was just a comment." Liz felt like she was getting a headache from the irritation she was feeling. She also felt she was just being gaslit right now, glancing over at Carol, who was now staring at her.

"A lot to unpack, huh Carol?" Chris would say, his smirk still present as he pressed the red button on the remote, switching from Liz's last confessional, to one of Carol's. "I wonder what Carol has for you?"

"You never exactly insulted me, though the closest you got was calling me the "Golden Retriever." Carol said, prompting a small sigh from Liz as she'd just focus on the television for now. She knew Carol most likely would've found out all the things she said after the season, but she also should've realized at any point in time that Chris could just show the confessional...

[Episode 18, Part 1]
Carol's Confessional.

"Final 3, let's go!" She shouted, pumping a fist into the air in celebration. "I never thought I'd get here...I never thought I'd reach the Final 5 either! But things just keep getting better and better.." Carol was excited, but then she thought back to what Liz told her a few minutes ago, and she got slightly sadder. "Well, sort of better. But, I hope she stays true to her word, and we can work together into the Final 2. Nothing against Laurie! She's also amazing, but I just want to work with the person I've been with, almost the entire game up to this point...even if they've done things I really don't agree with."

[Episode 18, Part 2]
Carol's Confessional
Carol looked conflicted as she entered the booth, "I don't know how I feel with my best friend being labeled a Supervillan-Nevermind, It's not that deep! It's not that deep." Carol said with a short sigh, instantly blocking that out of her mind as she wanted to speak about other things. "Me and Liz have been allies in this game the longest, and It's not every day that you see a duo like us pull through and make it to the Finale. I don't…know the full extent of what Liz had done on her side to be labeled that, but I tried to be as fair as possible, while still trying to win. Now I don't know how possible that is to do, but I didn't want to manipulate someone…-" She stopped herself, remembering what she told Max before. "…Which I failed to do." She appeared to be very low-spirited as she realized, "Maybe I wasn't as much of a Hero I thought I was."

"And that's it." Chris shrugged without much of a care, turning the television off with the remote as he'd then proceed to toss it into the water.

"Really?" Liz was honestly a bit surprised. Yes Liz had mentioned Carol a lot because she was always planning something, but she figured she would've at least gotten a comment or two with the way she was acting.

"Yeah, I don't really think I went into the confessional all too much, at least compared to everyone else." Carol said. "And the times I did go in there, it was always about what had happened earlier."

"Carol's too nice to say anything mean." Khalil would say, "I think she's barely said anything negative the entire season, besides the ankle incident."

"More like the Sarah incident." Marshal remarked.

"Uuuhg, I know it was a misplay!" Sarah almost seemed like she was whining, dramatically running her hands through her hair. "I don't need to be reminded every minute about it!"

"Alright, if we're done proving that Carol is a pure-hearted person, and that I'm apparently the reincarnation of the Devil himself, we have a challenge to get through, don't we?" Liz wanted to get this over with, shifting in place impatiently as she waited for Chris to move on.

"Right you are." Chris snapped, pointing off the side of the docks and at a large red mat in the sand. "Stand on the mat and pick a side, so we can get this underway." Chris would walk off camera, presumably to make his way down onto the sand as well. Liz and Carol would stick around on the docks for a little while longer, as Liz looked towards her ally.

She'd stare at the ground momentarily, honestly pondering what would happen after this season. Would anyone even believe that she would still want to be friends afterwards? Eventually looking back up, she'd ask, "Carol, can we still try to be friends after this season…"

Carol gave a kind smile, nodding. "Of course, why wouldn't we still be?"

"You know this show…we've seen the past seasons and how some of them, you know…" It was hard for Liz to explain fully on the spot right now, giving an apprehensive sigh as she'd wave the conversation off. "Nevermind, I'll tell you later. Right now we've got to focus. Goodluck."

"Goodluck to you too Liz." Carol would drop down onto the sand after saying that, walking over to the mat Chris had pointed to earlier, as Liz followed behind. Chris had been waiting impatiently, as usual, tapping his foot as he looked at his watch that probably cost way too much for what it was actually worth. Eventually he looked back up, now smirking."Alright! Your challenge will be done in 6 steps! Speaking of steps."

The 17th Challenge.

This challenge appeared to be broken into 5 sections. The first were 5 steps they'd need to jump between. The second were some pieces that needed to be knocked over. The third were planks of wood stacked in a mess, these were needed to cross the body of water placed in front of it. The fourth apparently looked as if it was just a long run, and the fifth was this staircase, though the stairs themselves were nowhere to be found.

Chris held up a rock, tossing it up and down in his palm "You'll have to place these rocks on the conveyor belt to your right, or left in your case Carol. After doing so, you'll jump through these Quintuple Steps to the other side, and you have to catch the rock at the end. If it drops on the ground, you have to take it and go back and try again."

"Second. You will use that rock and knock those puzzle pieces down. If you miss and fail to knock one down, you have to go back to the steps to get another one to try again. But if you hit the puzzle piece down, then you can just go off and grab it."

"How many rocks do we have?" Liz would interrupt Chris's explanation to ask.

"Trust me. You have enough." Chris would flash a smirk, the tell-tale sign he's already thinking of a snarky remark. "We made sure to think of how bad you may or may not be at accuracy, so there are a lot of rocks in those buckets." He'd toss the rock into the water behind him, shrugging as he did so. "Who knows, maybe we'll be out here all day and night watching you both suck at throwing rocks."

Liz had a mini grumble as she stared at the few parts of the challenge explained so far, already thinking of the best course of action to get through it quickly. "Doubt it…"

"What's next?" Carol spoke up to ask.

"When you knock all those puzzle pieces down, I wouldn't recommend picking up and carrying them yet. Right after that you'll have to put planks together to cross the water in the way. Some planks have the right piece but won't reach, others could reach, but don't have the right piece. It's up to you to find which to throw together to cross."

"Fourth thing. You will then hit a U-turn and run around back to near where you knocked down all those puzzle pieces, you will then grab the board and pieces. You can either do the puzzle then and there, or you can leave them and do it later."

"Fifth. You will drag that board to those steps, but before you can even climb them you have to dig up the missing pieces in the sand in front of it. After you do that, you can now climb those steps dragging the board up there. And if you bring your completed puzzle up there first or complete the puzzle first at the top. It doesn't matter which, all that matters is that you've won Total Drama Double Down, and a million dollars."

"So, this is it huh. No hidden addition, nothing. Just this?" Safe to say after everything Chris has done in this season, Liz is just a bit skeptical.

"Of course. Originally, I planned for you two to pick your designated helpers. Then I realized All-Stars already did something similar, so that was a no-go for me. But just for fun, who would you have picked?"

After a bit of thinking from both finalists, Carol was the first to answer. "Laurie." She'd speak. Though in her mind Khalil was the other name she was lingering on saying.

On the flipside of things, Liz had to think of someone both physically capable, and one who didn't hate her guts so much as to sandbag the challenge. "Damian." Even saying that was an iffy answer for her, Damian had reasons to not want to help Liz. In fact, almost everybody had a personal reason not to help Liz.

"Good to know, but they won't be helping you." Chris made sure to reinforce.

"Just to let you know, I would've tanked the hell out of the challenge if I was picked." Marshal confidently stated, crossing his arms for added effect. "I mean, nothing personal…but I just gotta stay defiant."

"Respectable." Liz replied bluntly, though it was obvious she had sarcasm behind the tone.

The camera would pan over to the bleachers momentarily.

Khalil - "Let's go Carol!" He cupped his hands to shout. Carol would grin at the support, blushing a bit.

Sarah - "Yeah! Win this for us! Win it for you as well! But for us too!"

Jaylyn - "You better win Carol!"

Adam - "It's an action movie, the Hero's got to win right!"

Laurie - "You can do it Carol!"

Marshal - "Ruin these kids happy ending why don't you Liz?"

Carlita - "After what you said in those confessionals, you better give it your damn all."

Blake - "Better get your ass in gear Liz! I don't want a good villain season ruined."

"Alright!" Chris moved his hand into his pocket, taking out an air horn. "This is it, your final challenge. On your marks."

Both Liz and Carol would place their hands over their respective bins.

"Get set."

.

.

.

.

.

"GO!" He'd fire off the air horn, officially starting the Final Challenge of Double Down.

Both of them would grab a rock at nearly the same time, placing it on their respective conveyor belts before sprinting over to begin the Steps. Upon actually doing the challenge, Liz quickly found out she'd have to take her time on these, as her height was a detriment, unable to simply bound through them like Carol would, who swiftly got through all 5 steps and waited for the rock to reach the end.

"C'mon, c'mon, let's go." Carol said in a hushed voice, clapping her hands impatiently for the rock, which would be there in a few short seconds so that she could grab it, nearly dropping it due to her nerves.

"Damn." She would shake the rock in her hands, almost as if they were some dice. "Let's go!" She'd fire it off at one of the podiums, knocking a puzzle piece off. "Huh. Oh hey! That actually worked!" She remarked, smiling as she ran over to grab the rock for another attempt. "I half expected to miss."

Meanwhile Liz finally got through the steps, just barely catching the rock in her hands as she got onto a knee to prevent it from hitting the ground. Her technique for the steps was grab onto it, and then jump. But doing that the first time made her realize she'd have to change it.

Liz got up to her feet, running over and preparing to throw her rock, as Carol made a move to throw hers again, unfortunately missing.

"Damn it." She'd turn around to run back to the beginning to grab a new rock.

As she did that, Liz threw her own rock, actually getting a collateral in taking down two puzzle pieces, something that'd be difficult to do consistently if tried. She ran to get retrieve her rock, looking back at what Carol was doing at the same time. She was already getting through the last two steps, about to wait for the rock at the end.

Liz's second throw was also successful, as Carol ran up on side of her to toss her rock at one of her own pieces, unfortunately missing again.

"Great." She would mumble in displeasure to herself, turning around to redo step one again.

"You've got it Carol! Just take your time!" Khalil cheered on.

"Just remember, if you do mess up taking your time, then Liz is just getting even further ahead! Just my advice!" Blake cheekily added.

"He's right, you know." Marshal would say out of frame from the camera.

Sarah would eye both Blake and Marshal, glaring at the duo before turning back to the challenge. "Don't listen to them Carol, just go at your own pace!"

Blake kicked up his feet and placed them on the open space in front of him. "Unless that pace is slow as shit, then don't."

Even though they were practically yelling, Carol really wasn't paying attention to them of course, completely focused on the challenge at hand. During the time the crowd was shouting at each other, Liz had finally missed one of her throws, still at three puzzle pieces as now she was the one forced to go back.

"Oh? Is Liz already going to choke her early lead?" Chris said, swirling the straw in his lemonade momentarily and taking a sip of it. Liz huffed in annoyance, she was focused, but liable to overhearing comments such as that, which still got a bit under her skin even in this situation.

"Shut the hell up McLean!" She'd snap, pointing at him for a moment.

"Don't blame me if you lose, I'm not the one facing you in the challenge am I."

Liz just gave him another groan of displeasure, still making her way back as Carol had returned with another rock, giving it a toss as she'd knock her second piece down.

"Woo!" Carol pumped a short fist into the air, running over to retrieve the rock. "I can hit stuff again." She'd pick up the rock, realizing that she was only really tossing it at the closest ones, and figuring the further it is, the harder it would be to knock it over, so she was going to aim for those now.

As she was preparing for another toss, Liz was almost back to the throwing section, currently waiting for the rock. Carol looked back to check for her momentarily, before lobbing her rock toward the furthest piece, just barely nicking the edge of it, as it'd slowly fall over.

"Let's go! From downtown!" Sarah would cheer, clapping her hands in enjoyment.

"Two in a row! I thought that wasn't going to fall for a second." Carol said, mostly to herself as she'd run off to grab her rock. Meanwhile Liz had jogged up to her side, quickly under-hand tossing her rock to knock down another puzzle piece that was closest. Since she didn't have to go as far as Carol, she actually would retrieve and return slightly faster than Carol had done.

Liz thought about aiming for one of the further ones for a moment, but would stop herself before doing so, taking a gander at what Carol was going to do.

Carol threw the rock in another catapult-like arc to try and get one of the far ones, unfortunately it was too high, and it would fly over the puzzle piece she was trying to get.

"AH!" Carol yelled and shook her head, turning around and briefly making eye-contact with Liz, it wasn't for long as Liz would focus on throwing her rock right after, knocking down another piece.

With Liz running to get her rock, and Carol rushing to get back leads to a bit of a mistake, as Carol stumbled on one of the steps, nearly slipping off before grabbing the edge with her left hand. Not trying to let the rock drop before she got there, she hurriedly made her way through the last two steps before almost diving to save the rock from hitting the ground, having a quick sigh of relief.

"Ya nervous Carol!?" Blake would jeer from the sidelines, currently being one of the few standing up and not sitting down on the bleachers.

"Sit yo ass down over there Blake." Sarah called out. "Carol's the underdog, but she's got this!"

It was then Jayln who'd point out, "Underdog? Liz is like half her size! If anything, Liz is the underdog here."

"Shut up! I'm not!" Liz being Liz, responded to that comment with irritation evident, though that did not stop her in the slightest from being able to knock her sixth puzzle piece down.

"And now Carol has half the pieces Liz does." Chris would say.

"You're making that sound worse than it actually is." Max said. "Don't get me wrong, it's still a lead, but it's not that big of a gap yet."

"I know, I'm just trying to see if what I'm saying will make Carol panic." Chris would chuckle, enjoying the instigating he's doing, because who is going to stop him? Carol jogged up, tossing her rock at the closest one she could hit, successfully knocking it over.

"There you go. Work up to the longer ones Carol!" Carlita cupped her hands, giving a few words of advice for her.

"Thanks!" Carol quickly gave her thanks, sprinting to get her rock as Liz had already gone back to throw hers again, once more hitting it dead on.

"Whoa…how is she so accurate?" Isabelle would say in slight amazement.

"Better question is, how is Carol so inaccurate?" Blake responded with.

"I think Liz's height is helping her, she's low to the ground so it helps her aim-" Marshal was in the process of his explanation, before being rudely cut off.

"SHUT UP!" Liz screamed without even looking towards the bench, running ahead to pick her rock up. Carol tried to stifle her chuckle but couldn't help but giggle a few times as she walked back into place to throw her next rock. This time she was a bit more relaxed as she threw it, successfully knocking a piece down.

Liz on the other hand, finally decided to miss, somewhat thanks to her brief annoyance at the spectators. "Damn it!" She'd glare over at the bleachers.

"Aw yeah! We got in her head Carol!" Sarah stood up to exclaim.

"We? Who is we? I don't parlez-vous. I did that myself." Marshal declared, before his attention was directed to Liz. "Can't take a little trash talk Liz?!" He yelled with a grin. "Come on! I thought you were better than this!"

"Aren't you supposed to be rooting for me!" Liz would yell, turning around and running to go back to the beginning.

"It's positive-negative reinforcement! Get with the program!"

"I don't…think it works like that." Clara had responded, though it was barely above a mumble, so Marshal didn't really care to ask what they had said.

Liz grumbled things under her breath as she two-step hopped her way through the steps, while Carol cut the piece lead back down to one, knocking her sixth piece down.

"Yeah Carol! Who's the underdog huh Blake?" Sarah put her foot up on the seat in front of her, taunting Blake.

"Hmm…." Blake just hummed, seemingly in thought as he was rubbing his chin as if he was trying to figure something out. "Isn't her entire thing a swan?"

"Just shut the hell up already." Jared was already annoyed at the constant drivel being said around him, but he really had no choice but to stay and put up with it since he had ended up mostly in the middle of the pack.

"Thank you, Jared!" Liz had time to comment, waiting on the rock to fall into her hands.

"Shut up." He responded in kind.

'Hah." Even in a high-stakes challenge, Liz can still somehow find time to mess with Jared. The rock fell into her possession, as she'd turn around to see Carol knock down her seventh piece.

"Now it's seven up. Hey, that's off-brand sprite! Haven't they been discontinued for a while now?" Sarah would ask, genuinely not knowing anything about the two.

"I'm pretty sure 7-up came first…" Tina said in the midst of scratching the back of her head.

"Regardless of who came first, Sprite is better." Sarah declared, crossing her arms after readjusting the hat on her head.

"Liz, unable to hold onto leads, just like how she'll be unable to hold friendships after this season." Chris cheekily said, for no good reason other than to annoy them for his entertainment. As usual.

"Is he wrong?" Jared asked, mostly in a condescending way towards Liz.

"I explained myself about that already! Just because I played the hardest, doesn't mean I'm heartless." She was starting to talk more and more to the bench as this first section went on. Possibly thinking Carol is going to mess up soon for her to catch up, or she's just that confident in her abilities. "Some of you didn't play hard enough."

"Or at all." Marshal slowly turned his head towards Mick and Lucy, both of which would ignore him.

With her stopping to talk very briefly, Carol had run back to throw, revving one up as she'd line drive her 8th puzzle piece down, taking the lead.

"Since Liz started to chit-chat, she-" Proceeded to throw and knock down her eighth piece as well. "Well, I would've said lost the lead, but now she's tied it back up."

"Still technically not in the lead. And also, technically still lost said lead-" Blake would say, deciding now was the best time to point out every single little thing.

"You know if we can go 5 seconds without him saying something, this'll probably be the best finale yet." Jaylyn had a bored look on her face, resting her head on top of her hand, which was propped up by her elbow.

"We could've just left Blake at the resort." Lucy had a rather apathetic look as she said that.

"I wouldn't have complained much, but It's better being there in person to watch this go down." It almost seemed like Blake agreed with Lucy.

Carol and Liz both ran over to grab their respective rocks, Liz was quick, but Carol was slightly faster. She would be ahead by a bit when they ran back to the platform to throw, but Carol stopped to set up for a split second. They threw the rocks at the same time, although one would miss, while the other would hit.

The one missing was Carol.

"NO! Damn it!" Carol threw her hands up in frustration, turning around to restart, as Liz chuckled to herself, still making sure to get her rock back at a decent pace, knowing she can take a bit of a head start if she can knock this last piece down.

As she returned to set up and throw, she'd rub her hands together and look over at the bleachers, specifically at Jared, smirking at him. "This one's for you Jared." She'd point at him, before turning to throw the rock at the last remaining piece for her.

And would successfully knock it down. "Hah!" She ran ahead, not picking up the puzzle pieces just yet as she'd make her way over to the planks of wood.

"And Liz is finished with the second step! We're now halfway through with the challenge!"

"That was cold-blooded, I'm not going to lie." Marshal would admit, having an amused look on his face as he'd then lean back. "I'm not even sure if I'd do that shit in that situation."

"C'mon Carol! No pressure! But…there is kind of pressure! Alright there's a lot of pr-" Intending to motivate Carol, Sarah's comment quickly devolved into the opposite effect.

"Sarah, that's not helping." Samantha said.

Attempting to `Help` with the situation, Blake would add. "Maybe it is, you never-"

"You shut up." But that was promptly shut down by Jaylyn instantly.

With Carol taking in a deep breath as she caught the rock from falling, this could be a break it or make it moment for Her. Already down two pieces as Liz is done, currently racking her brain to figure out which planks go together.

Carol charged up her throw, launching it at the 9th piece and knocking it down.

"Okay, good start!" Sarah cheered, clapping her hands.

Liz in the meantime, had her hands on her hips, kicking planks around as she struggled to find a third piece to go with the two she had already stuck together. She needed 5 in total, and not only that, but she has to hope the last piece she added fits the piece on the other side, otherwise it's not going to connect.

Carol ran back with the rock in hand, and deciding not to think about it too much, just went for it as she'd chuck the rock at the last piece, successfully knocking it over.

"Alright! You're still in it Carol!" Sarah cheered, clapping her hands.

Running as fast as she could, Carol ran over to the 3rd section of the challenge, basically sliding in the sand as she was on her hands and knees searching for planks to put together.

"Chris? How many different piece combinations are there?" Liz asked, tossing different pieces left and right, almost throwing sand in her eyes as she'd lean back to avoid it. "Damn it man…"

"I don't remember, I think I just put them on in whatever way I found them…As far as we know, there might not be the correct combination to complete this part." He'd shrug as he said this.

Liz would say possibly the most perfect response you could give with that information. "What?"

"Then what the hell happens if that's true." Carlita would be the one to ask from the bleachers.

"Let's just hope that doesn't happen." Chris chuckled, taking a sip of his lemonade.

"High quality low budget shit." Lucy remarked, with her trademark deadpan expression ever so apparent.

"Some of these better work!" Liz said off-camera, as the screen panned over to Chris.

"Relax, there's multiple combinations you can use, It's not just one." He'd appear to grimace for a moment, muttering. "I hope."

Liz would slap a third piece of plank onto each other, as Carol finally found two that'd fit together, starting her side.

"It's like watching kids building a toy train track. Or some Legos." Marshal commented.

It then looked as if Liz was finally gaining some ground, placing two more planks of wood together. This allowed it now to have the reach needed to reach the other side. Liz placed one of the holes in the plank on the beginning of the pond, swinging the end of it around to hit up against the far side of the pond, bumping into the shape that needed to correspond with the planks. Currently, it does not.

"Seriously?" She'd grab and push the planks back around to swing reverse towards her, placing her hands onto her hips as it was making its way back. "That's it huh, we just throw these together and hope it ends up correct.

"Need me to explain it in simpler terms for you?" Chris's tendency to mock Liz still worked even in the Finale it seemed.

"If I said yes, what would you say?" Liz responded, taking only the last piece off the 5 planks of wood she had together, knowing which piece would go into the plank, but not which piece would allow her to actually beat the challenge.

"Huh. That is a good question." Chris acted like he was in thought, placing a hand onto his chin before just laughing. "Oh, that's right, nothing!" And promptly drank more of his lemonade.

Carol would hear a satisfying click noise as she connected the 4th and 5th piece together, moving over to connect it to the beginning of the pond, pushing it so it swung towards the other side.

"Oh?" Carol would fidget with the plank momentarily, moving it in inches for a moment, before suddenly it clicked into place. "Oh!"

"What?!" Liz yelled out, having been watching Carol struggle for the past few seconds, before she eventually realized they had done the challenge.

Chris responded to Liz off-camera. "Told ya there's a way!"

"Watch my side not even have the correct pieces." Liz huffed; irritation very apparent. She continued to throw incorrect piece after incorrect piece aside, not wanting to fall behind so far.

"It'd be pretty funny in my humble opinion." Blake jumped into the conversation, as Liz glared momentarily at Blake for that remark.

Carol briskly but carefully skipped across the plank, landing back onto the sand as she'd follow the flags lined up. It would just wrap around back nearby the 2nd challenge, though this time she had access to the puzzle board, looking down as she realized it had no wheels, but bricks instead.

"Ah, gotta drag it through the sand." She quickly deduced, getting a grip on the vertical sides of the board as she'd start to drag it, before stopping and realizing. "Oh, and the pieces!" This is where thinking would come into play. Should she just ditch the pieces for now and drag the board all the way to the steps, or should she figure out and complete the puzzle now and not have to worry about going back later.

"...If I'm fast enough I can come back and get them." Carol would mumble to herself, making up her mind and swiftly moving over to the other side of the board, now pushing it through the sand.

"Carol, deciding to push just the board instead of solving it." Click. Liz had found the right plank for her to cross, having an angry but focused expression as she'd run across it nimbly, running over to the board on her side as she'd look down at the pieces. Carol meanwhile was making good work pushing, already 75% done with that as Liz grabbed two pieces, looking at them intently as she placed them onto the board.

"And Liz decides to work on the puzzle first instead! Hey, thanks for making it interesting guys!" Chris announced.

"Yeah! Welcome!" Carol exclaimed through her tired panting, briefly putting her hands onto her knees as she had reached a red line in the sand, marking that she needed to now start digging for the steps needed, buried in the sand.

She didn't waste any more time, dropping onto her hands and knees and digging almost like a dog trying to bury something.

Liz on the other hand had put all 10 pieces on the board, thankfully not in the correct order. Normally a puzzle board with just 10 pieces should be a cakewalk for any one not an infant, but the shape these were in, were wildly different than normal. Despite this, she was slowly and surely realizing what this completed puzzle would look like.

"Won…No." She would shake her head, starting over again. "I've, Won, Total, Drama?"

"Not yet. Well, if you get that puzzle completed and get up to the top before Carol, then yes, you will have won." Chris attempted to take another sip of his lemonade, before realizing he had none anymore. With a quick snap of his fingers, an intern not named Blake would hurriedly pass Chris another to drink.

"Great, great!" Liz smiled, her heart racing faster as she now had more of a clue where these pieces went, sliding them around to place them in different positions.

"CAROL! LIZ FIGURED OUT THE PUZZLE! YOU GOTTA GO!" Sarah yelled out as a warning to Carol. As her unofficial designated hype-man, it was basically her job.

Carol was making decent progress in her hunt for the pieces, pushing through the pain and soreness as she had currently found 6 out of the 15 pieces, deciding since it was close enough to simply run over and place them as she found them.

Upon hearing them yelling, she'd look over her shoulder, glancing back at Liz before turning around to focus on digging faster.

Liz would slap the middle of the puzzle board with her palm, taking in a deep breath as she moved over to the side, pushing it forward in the sand as she'd grunt. "Damn, this is tougher than I expected…"

Liz noticeably struggled more with pushing the board through the sand than Carol had done, as Carol now had 11 out of the 15 pieces to complete the stairs, walking back down the steps she had already placed as she went back to digging, glancing back at Liz's progress from time to time.

She was about 80% done pushing the puzzle, with Carol finding another piece to her steps, tossing it to the side as she thought about bringing her pieces in groups of two. Or, at this point she might as well find the last 3 all together.

Liz would be gasping for air as she reached the red line in the sand on her side, leaning against the puzzle board to rest for a few short seconds, before groggily walking and falling to her knees, sloppily starting to search for the pieces needed to complete the stairs.

"Choose the hottest day for this…" Liz mumbled.

"Indeed, I did!" Chris responded, somehow picking that up despite being meters away from Liz. "I specifically looked at the forecast for this week to pick the hottest day to do this challenge, just to make it that much more painful for you both."

"I wouldn't put it past him to do something so petty." Damian said, changing his posture as he'd rest his arm on one of his knees.

Carol would toss aside two more pieces, bringing her total to 14 out of 15, as Liz would find two in quick succession herself, her tiredness very apparent as she'd get up, jogging over to the steps and placing both of them down.

"Come on Carol, you're in the final stretch!" Khalil would shout in encouragement, clapping his hands together, and Sarah would follow suit, joining in on the clapping.

"Yeah, come on! You've got this!" Sarah's loud cheerleading was still in full force.

"Liz is actually ahead just so you know!" Blake shouted, having put one of his hands to the side of his mouth in an attempt to sound louder.

"Blake, I'll rock your shit if you don't shut up!" Sarah threatened, pointing before clenching a fist.

Both Liz and Carol would dig for a minute or two without success, prompting another comment from Blake.

Blake leaned his head back as he'd act like he was falling asleep. "It's like watching two kids play at recess."

Carol held up the final piece to the staircase, getting up and gathering the last 4 pieces she threw to the side. Two in her hands, and two under her arms as she started to jog up the steps, placing each piece down in succession once she reached the 11th step.

"And now I don't really know who's actually ahead! All Liz has to do is complete her staircase and be the first to the top, but all Carol has to do is finish the puzzle and be the first to the top. It's anyone's game!" Chris announced.

It was at this point more and more people who haven't really been talking that much started to speak up, almost now as a crowd.

"This is ending up much closer than I expected." Tina said, though it was more of an out loud thought to herself.

"Liz better not f-ing win." Samantha grumbled, tilting her head back with an annoyed groan.

"I would've already been done with the challenge." Damian whispered over to Marshal, as they'd both share a laugh.

"We both would have." Marshal replied back, giving him a fist-bump.

Dirk just silently watched on, cheering on the inside specifically for Carol.

Usually, Ingrid would be more in the middle for something like this, but she was pulling more for Carol as well, having her hands grasped together as she watched intently.

Brianna was also rooting for Carol instead of Liz, despite not really interacting much with either of them. "Push through the pain Carol! You're almost done!" She would have cupped her hands to sound just a bit louder for her to be heard.

Carlita had surprisingly stayed mostly silent during this finale, even despite Blake constantly being annoying, though Sarah and Jaylyn had that covered for her.

Mick stayed mostly silent, holding hands with Lucy as he watched. Though he could also respect good gameplay, he'd rather see Carol win.

After placing the last piece down needed to complete the steps, Carol turned around and almost fell running back down the steps. She was in a rush, sprinting back through the sand as she went to get her puzzle pieces.

Meanwhile during that time, Liz had gotten up to a total of six pieces, as she also went the route of putting them in their place as she found them.

Carol came running back with four pieces, two in her hands, and two under her arms as she'd toss them down in front of the puzzle board, turning around to go and grab the rest. Liz on the other hand was making good progress finding the missing stair pieces, having much better luck than Carol had, finding three more pieces and carrying them up the steps she has so far.

"My legs are killing me." Liz would remark to herself, starting to use the pieces in her hands as a cane to keep herself standing on occasion, huffing as she placed the seventh, eight, and then ninth piece down, turning around to walk back down the steps, and digging some more.

Carol ran back with four more pieces, throwing them down without a care as she turned right back around to fetch the last two.

Liz's luck would shrine through again, two more pieces for her as she got up to place those down, returning just in time for Carol to be at her puzzle board, now staring at all 10 pieces as she began to figure out a way to put this together.

"C'mon Carol! Don't tell me all that heat scrambled your brain!" Blake would be standing up and shouting, before Sarah stood up to shove him over, as now he was on the ground in pain.

"Shut up! Let's go Carol! The final push let's go! Come on!" Sarah began to rapidly hit the seat in front of her, hardcore pulling for Carol.

"Sarah's acting like my father when he's watching Football." Lucy interjected, having an arm draped around Mick's neck as she sat on his lap.

Carol would scramble around with some of the pieces, seemingly searching for one as her face would light up upon finding it, picking it up only for it to slip out of her hands, wasting precious time. "Shit, shit, shit.." She mumbled to herself, picking it up and slapping it onto the board. It was at this point she now realized there was text on this puzzle, maybe that could help her complete it.

As Carol was racking her brain putting this weirdly shaped puzzle together, slapping another puzzle piece onto the board, Liz found another stair piece in the sand, tossing that to the side as it was only a single piece.

Carol has put all the pieces on the board, but not in the correct order as she figures moving them around like this is better than one by one. After a bit of a drought period for Liz's luck, it'd return in full force with two pieces being found in quick succession, now having a total of three on stand-by as she'd stand up, tiredly chuckling as she'd realize she only had one more left to find before she could win.

Meanwhile Carol did not notice this, however she noticed something arguably way more important as her eyes would widen slightly.

"Wait…" She stuck her head out from behind her puzzle board, instead looking directly at Liz's completed one, realizing the entire time she's been glancing over at her that her puzzle was already done. But that begs the question to her, does she take the moral high ground and go back to focusing on her own puzzle, or…cheat?

She's a hero, but the key to winning a million bucks is literally staring her right in the face, how can she not use it to her advantage? Two by two Carol would look at Liz's puzzle board, before looking down at the pieces she was holding, placing it in the correct locations.

"And suddenly Carol is figuring out the puzzle now!" Chris announced, causing Liz to take a literal second to glance over in curiosity and worry, shaking her head to refocus on her task.

"That's because she's looking off of Liz's one!" Blake would yell out, having just gotten back up from being shoved over by Sarah earlier. He'd then proceed to be pushed down again by an angry Sarah.

"Shut the hell up, it doesn't matter!" Sarah aggressively yelled, before turning to cup her hands together and yelling. "WIN THIS CAROL!"

Liz hurriedly ran down the steps, nearly tripping and face planting as she realized Carol could easily steal this victory from her. She began to dig like her life depended on it, tossing sand left and right. Carol was calmly placing the last four pieces on her puzzle, not wanting to slip up and make a costly mistake.

.

"Yes!" Liz held up the final piece for her stairs, getting up onto her feet and jogging up the steps. All the while Carol gently placed the 10th puzzle piece onto her board, taking a deep breath as she'd start to drag it through the sand over towards the stairs.

"We have to drag this thing up there?!" Carol shouted, just to make sure this was the correct way, as she can already see this is going to be a pain in the ass.

"Yep!" A quick and to the point answer from Chris.

Liz ran back down, now grabbing her puzzle board, Carol and Liz were in the literal homestretch, the final part of the challenge is to bring that completed puzzle board up to the top of the steps.

Carol had her back facing the steps, opting to pull it up, whereas Liz would pick the front of it up to place on the first step, using the smooth bricks on the bottom to help as she'd begin to push, actually taking the lead on Carol.

"Put your back into that shit Carol!" Marshal was actually the one to yell this time, and not Sarah.

As Liz was nearing the top, she'd stumble, slipping and nearly letting her board fall all the way back down before she'd catch the edge of it, now having to pull to keep it up right.

"God damn! Shit!" Her grip was starting to come undone as she struggled to keep it from falling all the way back down. Halfway up the steps, Carol changed her strategy, quickly switching sides and now pushing her puzzle board up the steps, now passing Liz who was still struggling to keep her grip. She was right there! Literally almost two steps away from winning, but it was difficult to even move with this current grip she had.

"No…no, no, no no!" Liz quickly realized what was happening but was absolutely powerless to stop it as her grip finally gave way, her puzzle board tumbling down the stairs before it'd topple over, dispersing the completed puzzle into a mess. Liz couldn't do anything but stare in horror with her arm still outstretched, it slowly dropped as she turned to watch Carol ascend up the final steps, pushing her puzzle board up.

"AND CAROL, WINS TOTAL DRAMA DOUBLE DOWN!" Chris announced as soon as Carol stepped on top of the platform, throwing her hands up triumphantly into the air, tired as all hell but ecstatic, nonetheless.

"WOOO! YES! OH MY GOD-" -She'd drop to her knees, trying to regain her breath as she panted heavily, though her heart would somehow jump again as she was nearly dog-piled on by Sarah hugging her.

"That's my girl! Good shit Carol!" Sarah's hug was insanely tight, almost choking Carol as she struggled slightly in getting air.

Blake would chuckle, clapping his hands for Carol as he stood up on the bleachers. Some were content with clapping and staying put, such as Dirk, Ingrid, Lucy, and Mick. Though others such as Khalil, Laurie, Jaylyn, Isabelle, Damian, Marshal, and a few others got up to congratulate Carol.

"Give her some space and let her breathe Sarah, she just got done with that challenge." Jaylyn would scold, though having a smirk herself as Sarah chuckled, releasing her bearhug she had on Carol.

"Thanks…" Carol was barely audible as she took in some deep breaths, almost not believing the situation currently. She had won Total Drama.

"I was rooting for you the entire time Carol." Khalil would say, having a smile that would basically make Carol melt as she'd grin back, having a blush that she wouldn't try and hide this time.

"Thank you Khalil, and thank all of you too for rooting for me. I don't know if I would've been able to do it without those cheers." Carol gave a tired smirk, sitting down temporarily to rest.

"Yeah, you should name drop Sarah too, did you hear how much she was cheering? I mean damn." Carlita couldn't help but chuckle, as Sarah grinned, tilting the hat on her head down for a moment.

"What could I say, I was passionate." Sarah just shrugged.

"She was literally the entire crowd for most of the challenge. I'm pretty sure even if we were all yelling, you'd still be able to clearly hear Sarah over us." Carlita said.

After a minute or two of talking up there, it was hard for the rest that were sitting on the bleachers to not join them on the platform.

"Good job Carol…" Dirk said, hanging around on one of the higher steps instead of fully joining everyone.

"Talk about a climactic ending! I'd say it was a fitting end to this Superhero Movie.." Adam would say, getting a smirk and chuckle from Carol.

Mick would give a few small claps as he walked up to the top. "Nice one…" He'd say, as Lucy would join him, poking her head out to the side of Mick as she'd give a slow thumbs up for Carol to see.

"Yeah." Lucy added, in a somewhat more monotone voice than usual.

"Happy you won…" Ingrid said, barely audible for Carol to hear, but thankfully everyone was mostly quiet for her to speak.

Liz though, had not moved from the last position she was in before losing a million dollars, now sitting on the steps as she forced herself to listen to the conversation and congrats Carol was being given.

…The first one to go and console her was Isabelle.

"...You tried your best Liz." Isabelle personally wasn't good at these types of things, but coming from a background in which she's done competitions for a cash prize, she can relate in coming up short in something like this.

"...It wasn't enough…" Being heartbroken would be an understatement to describe the feeling Liz is going through. She had her mouth covered, staring down at the puzzle pieces scattered on the sand before just covering her face entirely, sniffling. "I-I tried so hard…"

"I know, I know…" Isabelle reached over and would start to pat Liz's back. "You did much better than most would do in that situation. Had the entire cast against you, yet you still fought so hard and nearly won."

"I-If I w-would've just…brought the board up the steps first instead of doing the puzzle…I-I could've won…" Liz's voice was breaking as she said that, wiping the tears away as she really didn't want that many people to notice such a thing.

"Could be, you never know. You'll start to think about what you could've done differently to possibly win. Trust me, unless it was obvious, all you'll get from that is more pain. You can't think about it that long."

Liz sniffed, rubbing the tears away from her eyes. "I-I'll try…"

After a while Chris began to walk up the steps Carol had used to achieve her victory, while at the same time Blake walked up Liz's side.

"Just wanted to let you know you definitely had the best game this season, and quite possibly in the top 3 of all-time." Blake would ascend past her, patting her on the shoulder as he did so.

"...Thanks…" Liz mumbled.

With a wave of his hand, as if he was shooing them away Chris made it to the top of the steps, ushering the losers to move out of the way as he'd stand in front of Carol, holding the briefcase. Carol couldn't help but chuckle in disbelief, it's still hard for her to truly accept what was going on right now, but she was eventually coming to the truth that she had actually won.

Flashing a smirk, Chris would say; "Carol, congratulations." The sound of two small clicks could be heard, before Chris had opened up the briefcase, showing Carol the million inside before closing it and handing it over to her. "I believe this is yours."

"Thank you so much…" Carol nodded with a grin, taking the briefcase and holding it high above her head.

"Don't thank me, thank everyone else for losing." Chris replied, watching as Liz and Isabelle both decided to make their way to the top platform after sitting on the steps for a while. "Speaking of which."

Liz gave an annoyed grumble, rolling her eyes. But she was too sad to exactly respond with her usual quips to Chris's annoying comments.

Carol would take a few steps towards Liz, sighing briefly as she placed a hand on their friend's shoulder. "Liz, I really don't think I could've won if it wasn't for you…You kept all the heat off of me for basically the entire game, and you did lead me around and told me who to vote for each time. You deserved to win just as much as I did, especially after you stayed true to your word." Taking her hand off of their shoulder, Carol would offer a handshake.

Liz stared at Carol's hand for a few seconds, eventually shutting her eyes and sighing, before accepting the handshake. "You definitely played a good undercover game despite being so strong physically, I'm surprised I even was able to have that lead so close….to the end." Liz had just reminded herself of how close she was to winning this game, her expression instantly becoming much more solemn.

"And hey, hey." Carol placed her hand back on Liz's shoulder, patting them. "That just shows how much you wanted to win."

"In a different universe Liz won, and we'd be talking about how this was one of the greatest villain seasons." Adam would comment.

"In one of those I win, and I really wish I was in that one right now." Blake added.

"I'm going to allow you guys to reminisce on your failures here, and in Carol's case." Chris would snap his fingers, pointing over to her. "Her victory. Meet me by the campfire at midnight, we'll be having our last moments on the island before the season ends." He then walked back down the steps, allowing the former campers to do what they pleased before midnight rolled around.

"I still almost can't believe I won…" Carol was the first to talk, flipping the briefcase around to stare at the case.

"But I can!" Sarah would wrap her arm around Carol's neck, before shaking her back and forth. "You're a winner!"

"You know after what Liz has done the entire season; I would've expected to feel nothing but joy watching her fail the way she did." Samantha spoke up, putting all of the attention onto Liz suddenly, as she was busy hoping that the part of laughing at her failure didn't show up.

"But instead, I felt a bit of pity instead." It took some effort to admit such a thing for Samantha, but it was progress.

"Hm, tough luck really." Was all Carlita said on the matter, surprisingly so little considering what happened with Carlita's last moments in the game.

"Should've been in the weight room Liz." Marshal shrugged with a smirk. "I would've won easily if it was me."

"Yeah, it's why you were eliminated pre-merge." Blake said.

"I'm not finna talk about that shit." Marshal shook his head, staring at Blake.

"Blake, you were eliminated pre-merge too-" Clara had almost finished her response, but Blake was able to cut her off near the end.

"Anyway." Blake just acted like he didn't hear what she just said.

"...S-so…you don't all hate my guts?" Liz would ask, with an almost pleading look. She had expected, well insults thrown right back at her considering how manipulative she was, and how confident that she had this win locked so early on in the game.

"Why would I? I also enjoyed the way you played the game." Blake placed his hands into his pockets.

"I mean, of course. You never had to deal with me, nor were you eliminated by something I did. I'm more so talking to my former teammates…" Liz replied back, somewhat knowing Blake would say something like that, considering what he had said to her back during that pyramid challenge.

"My elimination was nothing personal." Isabelle was the first one to comfort Liz anyway, she wouldn't have done so if she had some sort of vendetta against her.

"I've gotten over it." Jaylyn just shrugged.

"Eliminating me was the best choice for your game at the time." Mick would explain, holding hands with Lucy. "Even if it wasn't, I wouldn't hold a grudge against you." Lucy, meanwhile, had nothing to say. Technically Liz did cause her to eliminate herself, but the real decision was made by Lucy.

"Eliminating me was the only reason you were getting this far, NO CAP." Marshal of course had to explain it in a very comical way, even if he really wasn't intending to, getting a few chuckles.

"Getting rid of me was smart. That's all I'll say." Samantha crossed her arms after saying that, not intending to give Liz too many props. She's a tad bit salty still at her elimination.

"It wasn't cool how you were intending to betray me for so long, but in the end, you weren't the cause of my elimination, and you did keep my friend in the entire time. So, hey! No bad blood from me!" Though for some time after her elimination Sarah was a bit salty, it mostly wore off after a while. And then it completely went away watching Carol beat Liz in the end.

"Y-you're still my friend." Ingrid would press her index-fingers together as she said that.

"You're overconfident on occasion, but you were running this game which isn't a lie, so I'd say some of it was justified." Damian said.

And finally, Carol. "Some of what you said in those confessionals did sting, but I believe we can move past that and continue to be friends."

"Y-yeah…" Liz would nod her head slightly. "I'd like that."

And since they could not leave the island just yet, everyone decided to mostly hang out with each other for the rest of the day, all without the fear of possibly being backstabbed and eliminated or something along the lines.

Eventually, midnight rolled around, all 22 former campers, plus the hosts Chris, Blaineley, and Chef gathered at the campfire pit.

"Well campers, this is it." Chris said, placing a tray down with a sole smore placed on it. With Chef on his right and Blaineley on his left, the Prototype made its quiet return, walking out from the forest behind Chris, as it loomed over him and towards the campers.

"That robot looked like a backroom entity walking up." Sarah would comment from one of the far back stumps.

"Why is that thing back now of all times?" Blaineley looked over to Chris with an annoyed glance.

"Hey, it's been unused for a good few weeks now, might as well activate it back up one last time for the memories. Anyway, onto more important matters. With Carol winning, it caps off another successful Total Drama season-"

"What about Blast from the Past." Khalil pointed out.

Chris glared, both reasons being that he got cut off, and the fact that statement was correct. He slowly removed the smore off the plate, before tossing the metal plate at Khalil, it bouncing off the side of his head with a clang.

"AH-OW!" He'd yell out in pain, grasping the side of his head before rubbing it. "You could've just said something…"

"Barring any more rude interruptions; Carol, the final smore goes to you." He tossed it over to her, Carol catching it one-handed, keeping her other hand on the handle of the briefcase.

"Eight weeks on this island, half of it being chained to someone else, you've ended up the victor."

"Staying here eight weeks was a bit much for me, so I decided to stay for like four." Blake said.

"Yeah, decided." Carlita added with immense sarcasm.

"And that's all folks! Another amazing season, made by an amazing host! I'm Chris McLean, and this was Total! Drama! Double Down!"

[Confessionals]

Dirk Lee - (The Non-Social Pianist) [Excellent Elevens] [22nd Place]

"My time on the island was very short, but I'm glad that I was even able to compete. When I sent in my audition, I didn't really think I had a chance to even get accepted. Wish I could've done better of course, but it's just the way it is."

Adam Jackson - (The Movie Nerd) [Excellent Elevens] [21st Place]

"Hey, I wasn't eliminated first, but I didn't win either. We'll see if there is a sequel to my story, and if I can come back for another season. For my vengeance!"

Isabelle Thompson - (The Calm-Minded Breakdancer) [The Improbables] [20th Place]

"Enjoyed the short time I had on the island, and the resort was amazing. Not many complaints from me, other than maybe I wished I could've gone a bit further? Though that'd be less time spent at the resort, so I don't really know." She'd chuckle as her confessional ended.

Tina Black - (The Over-Excited Hipster) [Excellent Elevens [19th Place]

"What can I say, the season didn't exactly go as planned for me. But hey! You've got to admit, that Kickflip off the Heli, was dope!"

Jaylyn Martinez - (The Rebellious Jock) [The Improbables] [18th Place]

"I already know I'll be most known for the way I exited the game." Jaylyn laughed a bit, facepalming and shaking her head. "But hey, I'll be remembered more for that than getting eliminated 5th, so I'll take it I suppose."

Brianna Hanami - (The Misunderstood Idol) [Excellent Elevens] [17th Place]

"I really hope I'm not asked how I feel about my elimination over and over again when I get back. I know the fans can be very passionate." She'd smile as she said that.

Mick Daniels - (The Meek One) [The Improbables [16th Place]

"Made it further than I thought I'd ever go, and then I managed to find a girlfriend. I consider those a win."

Lucy Bailey - (The Uncaring) [The Improbables] [15th Place]

"Finding someone who cared for me back home was tough, but I was able to find one here. Yes, I know a lot are going to yell at me more for having quit over a boy, but I have faith that me and Mick will be able to work things out and stay together."

Blake Meade - (The Rich Boy) [Excellent Elevens] [14th Place]

"I know you guys think I'm going to sit in here and give you a 10 hour speech, and trust me I would've if they didn't tell me not to. So I'll give you the rundown. I already know I'm iconic." Blake flashed a smug grin. "I've got the quotes, I've got the looks, I've got the show. I'll take that over a million. I'm rich enough."

Khalil Hamilton - (The Isolated Sincere One) [Excellent Elevens] [13th Place]

"I've got more of a middle of the pack placing I'd say. More or less I expected it, but I did manage to make some good friends that I hope to keep in contact with after this is all done."

Marshal Pines - (The Sarcastic Jock) [The Improbables] [12th Place]

"I should've won. Don't even try to argue with me! You know I'm right!"

Samantha Dakota - (The Boyish Girl) [The Improbables] [11th Place]

"This could've gone much worse, but it didn't, and that I'm thankful for. Otherwise, not many redeeming qualities are on this damn show."

Sarah Bell - (The Hot-Headed Cowgirl) [The Improbables] [10th Place]

"I might've not won, but at least my best friend carried my willpower to the end to win! Hey, believe it or not I had a shot. It was far off, but that Idol took me out. Who knows where I would've ended up if it wasn't for that?

Carlita Juana Diablo - (The Alluring Troublemaker) [Excellent Elevens] [9th Place]

"I can't wait for all the videos that are just me yelling and screaming at everybody." Carlita chuckled, sighing as she'd start to reminisce for a moment. "I was really violatie to start the season, though I've honestly felt like I've mellowed up near the end of my run, and at the resort. Course you probably don't believe that, do you?"

Ingrid Glenmarie - (Awkward Goth Girl) [The Improbables] [8th Place]

"Erm…" Ingrid looked unsure of what to say for a few seconds, idly pressing her index-fingers together. "I uh…I'd say I mostly enjoyed my time here. Sure, there were some uh…r-rocky moments. B-but it doesn't outweigh the new friends I've made."

Clara Donovan - (The Determined Flirt) [Excellent Elevens] [7th Place]

"Tried my best, made it far, but didn't end up winning unfortunately. Made some friends, ended up in a relationship, and Isabelle and I are going to see how it works out after the show. Can't ask for a much better stay here other than actually winning!"

Max Grasyon - (The Energetic Tomboy) [Excellent Elevens] [6th Place]

"Hey, not many could say they've only been eliminated by a single vote. This season has been really hit and miss for me. The food was good, the friends I made were cool, but uh, there were a few problems. Had a couple arguments that got bad, thankfully none of it escalated too much."

Damian Gomez - (The All-American Boy) [The Improbables] [5th Place]

"So close, yet so far. Physically I was front-running this game, just three challenges away from winning it all. There was only one moment I felt as if I did something wrong. It's not game related, but on a person to person aspect. That was with Laurie. I can't apologize enough to her about it, but otherwise, I did my best."

Jared Monuel - (The Pessimistic Perfectionist) [Excellent Elevens] [4th Place]

"4th. Pretty good, and not what I expected to get when I first set foot here. I'll see if I keep anyone here in my contacts after the show. I don't have much else I'd like to add."

Laurie Ray Dawson - (The Fragile Mixed Martial Artist) [Excellent Elevens] [3rd Place]

"One spot short of reaching the Finale…but I'm happy and amazed I even got 3rd!.." She would then sheepishly scratch the back of her neck, looking slightly nervous. "U-uh, hope my Dad isn't too mad w-when I get back. H-hehe.."

Liz Spring - (The Cute and Sneaky Girl) [The Improbables] [2nd Place]

"Alright, I'll gladly face the music. All season long I've been so confident, maybe even overconfident you could say; that I'd win the season in the end. I played hard, I manipulated, I controlled the game, and I came up short in the end. I'm-I'm you know, happy that after all of that, none of them hated me. I'm sure a few of them dislike me, but I'm glad that I still have a chance to make amends and talk to them as friends. And not be consumed in hatred in what was done in the game. I understand I played a villain game, but I am not a villain in my actual life. I don't plan to manipulate, or eliminate the opposition in any given task, no. I just played the game, to win.

Carol Lance - (The Golden Swan) [The Improbables] [1st Place]

"Wow, this is truly it." Carol would be hugging the briefcase in her arms for a second or two, before she'd grab the handle and set it down onto her legs. "I won Total Drama. I never expected to get that far, let alone WIN the entire thing! It's insane! Being compared to Leonard…is why I first watched Total Drama in the first place. And then, I watched the other seasons. And then I auditioned to compete on Blast From The Past. Didn't really think I'd be accepted, but I did. Though, the season would be canceled during it. That sucked, but hey the fact that I was even able to compete was good enough. Then Double Down was announced and I auditioned again. Got accepted a second time, and not only did I make it far…I won. Turns out, being insulted led to me eventually deciding to win Total Drama!" She'd laugh.

"Well, I didn't decide to win Total Drama, but I'm glad I was able to. My time here was fun, and besides my injury, I wouldn't say I hated anything about it. Food was good, the challenges were tough, I made some good friends, and then I ended up winning. Perfect in my eyes."

[(And that is the end of this story/season. It's technically complete, since me adding the Alternate Ending and maybe even Aftermath is just an addition I can come back to. The SYOC first started July 12th, 2019, but I didn't upload the first chapter until January 1st, 2020. That was a preview of the few "Long Breaks" I'd have. Sometimes things just happened in life to where I could not focus on sitting down to write, but I don't want this part to be me just spouting excuses.

Liz! One of the few villain applications I got that could lead this story. The others being: Blake, Carlita, Jaylyn, Marshal, or Jared. But Liz really got my attention, and held it with the way I was able to write her. She was basically almost given to be in the Finale, with Laurie battling with her for a while on who would actually be the one getting there. I'm not sure how often villains end up getting 3rd, but I really wanted Liz to win in at least an alternative ending.

Carol! I suppose some of you saw this coming when she reached the Final, what 5? 6? She was supposed to win Blast From The Past, but just saying that isn't equal to her actually being written to win. It may seem stupid or unfair that Carol technically would've "Won Twice", but if BftP was finished and Carol did win, she definitely would not be in the Finale of this story.

In any case, despite the almost entirely new cast around Carol, she still stood out to me to win the season. Don't get me wrong, a good portion of the cast are good winner material, but only one can win in the end, and that was Carol.

I was 16 when I first made the story, and now I'm almost 20, I just wish it didn't take this long to finish. But hey, better late than never.

See you next time! Where the story is for some reason even longer.)]
