A Matter Of Trust-Ch 25
The next morning Dave, Hotch, Derek and Reid headed to the police station to visit Kevin and Zach while JJ and Emily stayed at the BAU with Amy and started searching for the heart of their team, their oracle, Penelope. Once the men arrived at the police station Dave and Hotch went to see Zach down one corridor while Derek and Reid went down another to the interrogation room to wait on Kevin to be brought down to them.
Hotch and Dave looked up as a man in his mid 30's was brought into the room, he was led over to the table where his cuffs were fastened to the top of the table by the guard, who then looked at the agents and said, "I'll be right outside the door, let me know when you're finished".
Dave said, "thank you, we will", Dave and Hotch then watched as the officer turned around and walked out of the room leaving them alone with Zach, hopefully they would be able to get him to turn on Kevin, only time would tell. Hotch looked at Zach who sat there across form them smugly smiling, Dave said, "trust me son you've got nothing to smile about, you are in serious trouble", Zach shrugged and said, "not like I'm a virgin at being in trouble".
Hotch opened the file he had in his hand and said, "yes we can see that" as he turned page after page of offenses that Zach had committed over the course of his lifetime, when he closed the file he looked at Zach and said, "tell us about your job with Kevin". Zach said, "I'm sorry, who, who's Kalvin", Dave shook his head and said, "it's Kevin and you know it so stop with this crap and tell us what we want to know".
Zach sat there looking at the two agents and said, "why don't you tell me what you know first", Dave grinned and said, "well we know that you broke into Penelope's apartment and planted the condom package and the ring". Hotch then said, "we also know that you planted cameras not only in Garcia's apartment but in Morgan's house and I'm sure that you know that since Derek and Penelope are both federal agents that the penalties will be stiffer on your case this time".
Hotch said, "soooooo if you're willing to make a deal with us we can get your sentence lessened", Zach sat there for a few minutes quietly thinking before he said, "what is it that you want to know exactly?", Dave looked at Hotch and then back at Zach and said, "everything son, everything", Zach sighed and started spilling his guts about everything that he knew and about everything that he was paid to do.
When he was finished Hotch said, "since you helped us, I'll keep my word and talk to the prosecutor and tell her that you helped us and see about getting your sentence reduced", Zach nodded his head and watched as the two men stood up and stopped at the door. Dave knocked, letting the guard know that they were finished, Zach watched then as the agents walked out of the room and the guard walked in.
As he was led back to his cell he sighed wishing that he had turned down this job because it was more trouble than it was worth, as he walked back into his cell a few minutes later and plopped down on his bed he smiled and said, "if I'm going down Kev, you're going down with me", he then put his arms under his head and wondered just what Kevin was doing, was he in jail or was he still out causing trouble, little did he know that at that time Kevin was being led to another interrogation room to speak to Derek and Reid.
