A Matter Of Trust-Ch 28
Derek kept pacing back and forth across the room, Reid and the others watched their friend, he was nervous, worried and totally head over heels in love with the woman they were all waiting on to come home. Dave said, "son if you keep pacing back and forth like that you're gonna have to redo the floor", Derek stopped walking and looked at Dave and said, "huh, what?", Dave said, "sit down son, pacing isn't gonna make her get home any faster".
Emily glanced down at her watch and said, "we'll know she's here when Strauss comes back", Hotch said, "the important thing now is that she's coming back Morgan, now when she gets here don't rush her, let her control the pace". Derek said, "man I haven't seen her in three months, I need to hug her, to kiss her, to tell her how sorry I am and how much I love her", JJ said, "that's what you need but right now you need to focus on what Garcie needs, okay?", he nodded his head yes as he sat down in the seat beside Reid.
A couple of hours later Strauss walked back into the room and said, "well I was just notified that Penelope is in the parking garage", Derek said, "are you sure that she's alright?", Erin said, "well I couldn't see her over the phone Agent Morgan but I'm sure that she's fine and she should be up here any time now", Derek blew out a deep breath and tried to calm himself down.
Meanwhile on the elevator Penelope was surrounded by the men that had been her team, her protectors, her friends for the past three months, they were by her side wanting to help her and to make sure that both her and the baby were alright. When the doors to the elevator opened she stepped off and smiled, it seemed like forever since she had last been here, as she looked around she thought, "has it really only been three months since I was last here". \
They made their way up the corridor, the closer she got to the bullpen the more nervous she was getting, she stopped, they all stopped and Chad said, "are you alright?", Penelope looked up at him and said, "yeah, yeah, I'm fine, just a little nervous". Mick took her by the hand and said, "no need to be nervous, we're here with you and we're not gonna let anybody get near you unless you say it's okay and by anybody I mean Derek Morgan"
Penelope laughed and said, "thanks guys, thank you so much for being here with me now and for being with me and taking care of me for the past three months", Ron smiled and said, "you were a breath of fresh air to our team". Tim said, "that you were Penelope, you quickly became the heart of our team and we will miss you", Rick nodded his head and said, "are you sure you won't change your mind and come back with us, we'd love to have you?", she looked up at him and said, "I'll think about it", he smiled and sighed happily.
Derek blew out a deep breath and said, "where is she, what's taking her so long to get here?", Reid laughed and said, "calm down Morgan, she'll be here when she gets here", Derek said, "noooooo, really". JJ said, "alright you two, don't make me separate you", Reid stuck his tongue out at Derek causing Derek to laugh again before he said, "awww how sweet your wife is protecting you", Reid said, "if their is one thing I've learned over the years Morgan it's not to piss JJ off, sooooo", Derek held up his hands in defeat and said, "point taken pretty boy, point taken".
Their attention turned to the door when they heard it open, they saw several men walk in, they didn't recognize anybody but Mick, he smiled at them as they continued making their way closer and closer to them. When they stopped walking Emily said, "Mick, what are you doing here, do we have a mutual case that we don't know about?", he grinned and said, "well in a way I guess you could say that" and the BAU team looked at each other confusingly before looking back at Mick".
Strauss walked over and shook hands with Chad and said, "it's good to see you again Chad", he said, "good to see you again to Erin, it's been a while", she said, "yeah, three months but where'sssss?", Penelope said, "here mam, I'm here" as the men separated a little so that Strauss and the others could see Penelope's face.
Derek smiled and said, "baby girl", she looked down at the ground and he said, "please talk to me", when she didn't respond he started walking across the room toward her, she felt her heart start to race, she grabbed onto the arms of Mick and Rick. Mick looked down at her and said, "are you alright?", she shook her head no and whispered, "no, no, I'm not ready, make him stop, please make him stop", Mick held out his hand and said, "I'm gonna have to ask you to stop Derek".
Derek stopped and looked at him in disbelief and said, "who are you to tell me to do anything?", the rest of the men closed ranks and surrounded Penelope as Mick said, "she's not ready to talk to you, she wants you to back off so you're gonna do it". Derek felt his heart start to break again, he said, "is that true baby girl, do you want me to stop, do you want me to leave you alone for now?", she nodded her head yes, shattering even more of his heart.
Emily said, "are you okay PG?", she said, "I am, I've missed you my raven haired beauty", JJ said, "what about me?", Penelope said, "and I've missed you too sunshine, ohhh I've missed you all so much, it still seems so unreal to be back". Dave said, "you weren't gone on a personal leave now were you kitten?", she shook her head and said, "no, no I wasn't, I was undercover working and as soon as the case was over I was allowed to come back".
Hotch said, "are you sure that you're alright Garcia?", she said, "yes sir, I'm I'm fine but a few things have, we'll they've changed, I've changed and the change is very obvious", the BAU team looked at each other and then back at Penelope. Reid said, "what do you mean, what changes, I can't tell that you've changed", Mick said, "are you ready?", she said, "yeah, I better get this over with because after they know things are gonna be a lot different".
Derek and the others looked at her as the men separated and she stepped out from behind them and took a few steps forward, Derek's eyes widened when he saw her standing there, she was radiant, she was so beautiful and she was, yes, yes she was pregnant with his child, she smiled and said, "I'm pregnant, six months along", she looked around at the team and all she saw was smiles as everybody minus Derek who she'd asked to step back pulled her into a group hug.
When the team stepped away Derek said, "w w why didn't you tell me?", she said, "I didn't know until I was already undercover and by then I couldn't make contact with anybody, not that I would want to make contact with you after how we ended things". Derek took a step closer and said, "what do you mean ended things, we didn't end things", she gasped and took a step back as Mick, Rick and the others stepped in front of her.
Tim said, "back off man before I make you back off", Derek looked at the men that were keeping him away from his baby girl and just when he was getting ready to fight back Strauss said, "alright, that's enough, that's enough, let's take this conversation to the round table room where everything will be explained", both teams nodded their heads yes as they started making their way slowly toward the round table room.
Derek couldn't believe his eyes, his baby girl was actually afraid of him, she was staying away from him and using the men of the other team as protection from him, as he watched them help her inside the room he knew that it was going to take a lot of talking, begging and pleading to get her to forgive him but seeing her pregnant with his child was only making him more determined than ever to make her see that they belong together.
When the others were in the room he said to himself, "you can do this" and stepped into the round table room and closed the door behind him, he couldn't wait to find out what had been happening with his baby girl and the sooner he found out the sooner he could talk to her and get things straightened out, well that's what he hoped at least but judging the wall of men that were keeping him away from her he wasn't so sure.
