A Matter Of Trust-Ch 38
The next morning started out as any other with Penelope getting up, grabbing a quick shower before getting dressed and heading out to work for the day but this morning she was dragging a little, she just couldn't get started. As she grabbed her purse and headed out the door she winced as a dull ache went from her stomach all the way around to her back, she blew out a deep breath and put her hand on her stomach.
She said, "easy there little one, take it easy on mommy okay" as she locked and then shut her door, she then turned around and headed down the hall toward the elevator and as she stepped on she sighed and said, "it's so good to have things back to normal like they were before everything with Kevin happened".
A few minutes later she was stepping off of the elevator at the BAU, she started heading down the corridor toward her lair when she heard a familiar voice behind her, she turned and said, "good morning Mick, how are you on this beautiful morning?", he said, "I'm good and how are you doing Penelope?", she said, "I'm good just a little tired this morning, I couldn't get kicked into gear this morning" as he walked closer to her.
When he was in front of her he said, "you sure that you're alright, you look a little pale this morning?", she said, "I'm fine I'm fine so please stop worrying about me, okay?", he said, "no can do Penelope, you are my friend and you are 7 1/2 months pregnant so no mam I will not stop worrying about you".
She held up her hands and said, "alright, alright", he grinned and said, "sooooooooo", she looked at him and said, "soooooo what?", he said, "it was you wasn't it?", she said, "slow down Mick and let me on your train of thought". He laughed and said, "it was you that did the matchmaking last night weren't you?", she said, "welllll I helped a little but the sparks were there from the second they met each other".
Penelope pointed her finger at Mick and said, "and don't tell me that you didn't see the sparks", Mick said, "guilty as charged, I saw them, it was hard not to see them, I mean they were all four practically glowing". Penelope giggled and said, "and don't worry I'll find somebody for you too, that is if you just give me a chance", he shook his head and said, "ohhhh on you don't Penelope, I don't want you fixing me up".
They turned when they heard Tim's voice say, "and why not, she's really good at it and I'm sure that if she puts her mind to it that she can even find somebody for a person like you", Mick looked at his friend and said, "and what does that mean, somebody like me?", Tim said, "oh I didn't mean any disrespect when I said that, the only thing I meant was a loner, somebody that would rather be alone, a confirmed bachelor, that's all I meant".
Mick thought for a few seconds and then said, "alrighttttttttt I give up", he looked at Penelope and said, "fix me up", she clapped her hands and said, "thank you, thank you, thank you, I promise you that you won't regret it, I do have somebody in mind". Their conversation was interrupted when JJ said, "sorry guys but we've got a case, Hotch needs us in the round table room", the trio of friends nodded their heads yes and turned around to follow JJ.
When they joined the others Hotch explained that the case was in town and that they would be leaving in a few minutes, as the debrief continued he informed the team about the ten victims that were kidnapped from outside their homes over the past several nights. Reid said, "he's averaging at least two a night and if you look at their facial symmetry you can see that they are similar". Tim looked at Reid and said, "facial symmetry?", Reid nodded his head and then got up and walked over to the picture on the screen and started showing him and the others what he was talking about.
A few minutes later when the debrief was ending he gave Penelope her orders and then looked at the team and split them up sending them to all of the kidnapping scenes with him, Dave and Chad heading to the police department to see if they had been able to discover anything else about the victims.
Penelope walked her team to the elevator and said, "be safe my team of crime fighters", they all smiled and said, "we will" in unison and she stood there smiling at them until the doors on the elevators closed. She then turned around and started making her way down the corridor toward her lair and just as she was getting ready to walk through her door she was hit with another dull ache, she shook it off and headed inside to get started on her deep dive for information, information that would hopefully help her team.
