A Matter Of Trust-Ch 43
Time passed by quickly as the family all stayed with Penelope and Hank until they were notified that they could go and see Derek, Fran had talked to Penelope's doctor and got the okay but she had to go in a wheelchair and she had to rest. Penelope happily agreed and was currently being pushed in the wheelchair with her son sleeping peacefully in her arms, she couldn't wait to see Derek, she had missed him so much and she wanted him to know how much she loved him.
When they got outside his door they stopped, she blew out a deep breath and they all looked up at the nurse as she said, "you can all see him but we ask that you limit the number to like 4 or 5 for now". Dave said, "Penelope, you, the baby, Fran and the girls should go in first, the rest of us will go later", Penelope grinned and said, "thank you papa bear" as Sarah pushed the door open and Desi pushed Penelope's wheelchair into the room.
Penelope felt her heart racing as she got closer and closer to his bed, the room was so quiet with the only noise being the beeping of the heart monitor that was attached to the love of her life who was still currently unconscious. Fran said, "he looks so pale don't you think?", Desi said, "I'd say he lost a lot of blood", Penelope said, "I'd say so but don't worry he'll be back to his old self in no time", Sarah said, "of course he will".
Desi put the wheelchair right beside Derek's bed and stepped back and watched as Penelope took one hand and put it on top of Derek's, you could tell how much Penelope loved Derek by the way she held his hand. Sarah smiled as she watched how gently she was touching his hand, it was like her strong, muscular brother was a piece of fine china that would break if touched the wrong way.
Penelope said, "we're here hotstuff, me, your mom, Sarah, Desi and, and our son, our son Hank is here", Derek's heart monitor started speeding up and Fran said, "that's it Penelope, keep talking to him about the baby". Penelope smiled and said, "he's right here in my arms hotstuff, he's so adorable, come on open your eyes and look at him", Derek's fingers moved causing Fran to smile and say, "keep going, keep going".
Sarah looked at her mother and sister and together they watched as Penelope said, "our son weighed in at 5 pounds 10 ounces and was 18 inches long, he's so sweet but I'm sure if he's anything like you he's gonna be a handful", Sarah, Desi and Fran laughed. Penelope sighed and said, "I was so worried about you when I found out that you were shot but now, now that I'm here, now that we're all here with you I know without a shadow of a doubt that you're going to be fine".
Derek slowly squeezed her hand, she said, "I love you Derek, I love you so much", Derek's heart monitor started beeping faster as she continued talking to him about how much she loved him. Hank started waking up, when his little eyes opened he started fussing and Penelope laughed and said, "see, see, I told you that your son was going to be just like you, he's only a few hours old and already making a fuss".
Fran, Sarah and Desi watched as Derek's eyes slowly started trying to open, Fran said, "Penelope look", she looked down at his face and smiled and said, "come on Derek, wake up, open those beautiful eyes and look at me and our son". Tears started streaming down her cheeks as Derek's eyes opened and immediately latched on to hers, she said, "I love you", he weakly smiled and said, "and I love you baby girl and I love you".
Penelope said, "Derek Michael Morgan I'd like for you to meet our son, this is Hank Spencer Morgan", Fran walked closer and helped Penelope put the baby on the bed beside his father and the second Derek touched his son's hand he stopped crying. Fran said, "the bond is already there" as she watched the mother, father and son bond, they were so beautiful as they looked down at their son, Fran Sarah and Desi pulled out their cells and snapped a few pictures of the little family.
Desi sent the pictures to the family with the heading, "Derek's awake", when the family out in the waiting room saw the pictures they all smiled and Dave said, "welcome back son, welcome back" causing the rest of the team to smile happily and nod their heads yes in agreement with Dave.
