A Matter Of Trust-Ch 44
After a few minutes Fran and the girls stepped out leaving Penelope and the baby inside with Derek, next JJ, Emily and Spencer went in to visit their friend followed a little while later by the rest of the team. The only constants were Penelope and Hank who stayed with Derek the entire time because they didn't want to leave his side and as long as Penelope and the baby were with him his vitals stayed normal and stable.
Dave had talked to the administrator and got it approved that Penelope and Hank could stay in the room with Derek until until Hank and Penelope were to be released a couple of days later while Derek on the other hand needed to stay several more days for monitoring, no matter how much he protested and said that he was fine, finally it was Penelope that convinced him to stay.
While Penelope had been in the hospital the rest of the team worked hard to get the nursery finished at Casa Morgan, it took them a few days to get everything taken care of but by the time Penelope was able to bring Hank home it was ready. Derek and Penelope had talked and it was decided that they would all live together in his house since it was bigger and had plenty of room for her and the baby, this way he wouldn't have to worry about them because they would be with him.
Desi and Sarah were of course getting closer and closer to their boyfriends with each passing day, Penelope was happy for the girls because she wanted them both to be as happy as she was with their brother. Derek and Penelope were still on leave, Derek because of his injury and Penelope because she had just given birth and they were taking complete advantage of their alone time by spending a lot of time together talking and making plans for their future.
Derek had arranged a dinner for him and Penelope and he was eagerly awaiting time because tonight was the night he was going to propose to her, to his baby girl, to the love of his life, Penelope. They were sitting at the table and she said, "ohhhhh Chicken Alfredo", she looked up at Fran and said, "thanks Fran, it smells amazingggg", she said, "you're welcome honey, now the two of you enjoy your meal and I'll be upstairs with Hank".
Derek smiled and said, "thanks ma", she winked at him and said, "no problem baby boy" before walking off so that Derek and Penelope could enjoy their meal in private and so her son could finally do what he'd wanted to do forever, propose. After enjoying a delicious meal Derek intertwined fingers with his girlfriend and led her over to the couch, he helped her sit down and then he blew out a deep breath and looked down at her lovingly.
he smiled and watched him as he pulled a small black box out of his pocket and opened it and said, "Penelope Grace Garcia, will you do me the honor of marrying me and spending the rest of your life with me?", with tears streaming down her cheeks she nodded her head and said, "yes, yes, yes", he pulled the ring out of the box and slid it onto her finger before leaning in and claiming her lips with his in a passionate kiss.
Derek took a picture of the engagement ring on his baby girls finger and sent it as a group message that said, "SHE SAID YES", it took only a matter of seconds before the congratulations started pouring in from their family. Fran smiled down at her adorable grandson and said, "daddy proposed to mommy and she said yesssssss soooo that means very very soon she's going to be Mrs. Derek Morgan", she caressed her grandsons cheek and said, "and let me tell ya buddy their was a time when grandma wasn't so sure things were gonna work out".
Hank laid there looking up at his grandma as she started telling him the story of how his mom and dad broke up and then got back together and before she was half way through her audience had fallen asleep. She kissed the little boy on the cheek and said, "good night my little angel, nana loves you", she then placed the sleeping baby into his crib and turned on the mobile over his bed, she then stood there watching him for a few more minutes before grabbing the monitor and heading into another room to call Dave.
