She lives! Yeah, I am so sorry that I could not update for the past however many weeks it has been, but my friends wanted me to be *gasp* social. But now I am finally able to write, so here is chapter 11!
Dave shrugged. "Who knows. Maybe you standing up to him was a big turning point in your life. Fuck, I'm no expert on it. Point is, you're awake, Noir's in Prospit tearing shit up, and you are currently knocked out in an alleyway."
"Yes, that sums up the plot of everything that has happened," I said. "Now, what are you doing asleep while Noir attacks Prospit?" He rubbed his neck. "Sometimes you just sort of fall asleep. I think the only person that doesn't is Dirk, because he seems to have a good idea of how to control it. Maybe I fell asleep so I could tell you that you're awake? If that actually makes sense."
"I get the idea," I replied. "You fell asleep to guide my dream self. Now I am currently unconcious in an alley left to Noir's biddings. I'm screwed."
"Let's try to wake you up then," he said.
"Wait. This entire time, I hear about how important it is to wake up as my dream self. I finally wake up, and you want me to fall alseep again?" I asked. "That makes this entire thing seem absolutely pointless."
"Well, you woke up. That means the next time you fall asleep as real you, you wake up as dream you. So this completely unimportant and uneventful waking up is actually useful," Dave explained. "Besides, if you would like to live, then I would suggest falling asleep. Then run like your feet are on fucking fire and get as far away as fucking possible from Noir. He will wreck your shit."
"Consider my shit already wrecked," I said. Then I pondered over what he said. "Fine. I suggest you go back to sleep and wake up too. Noir is attacking Prospit."
"See you in the waking world, Lalonde," Dave said. He hopped out of the window and flew back to his tower. I laid on my bed and sighed, closing my eyes in an attempt to sleep.
########
I woke up in Prospit. My head was still pounding and my entire body ached, but I was no longer in the alley. By the looks of it, I was in an infirmary. I was laying on a cot, and the cot beside me was taken by Roxy. There were two nurses in the infirmary, and Roxy and I were the only patients. I sat up. "Excuse me?" I asked. One of the nurse rushed to my side. "Good, you're awake! How are you feeling?" she asked.
"My head hurts, but I'm fine. What happened? How did I end up here?"
"Prospitian Monarch brought you and your sister here. Sorry, but that's all I know. She didn't explain further." She looked me over. "You and your friends heal fast. It looks like you only have a few scratches."
"Lucky me," I said. "Am I clear to leave?" I asked. "They need my help."
"I think I can let you go," the nurse said. I thanked her and left, stumbling slightly as I walked. The infirmary was underground, probably one of the safe havens in Prospit in case anyone attacked. The entrance to the infirmary led to a tunnel, which brought me above ground. A few luckier Prospitians were flocking towards the infirmiry. Noir and his army were still destroying the city, but the Prospitian army had begun to fight back at full force. Oddly enough, they resembled chess peices. Carapaces in armor were like pawns, fighting each other head on. Giant horses were the knights, stamping on pawns. Hulking carapaces were rooks, and gigantic machines were bishops. A few of the trolls were fighting. Karkat and Sollux were fighting Dersite soldiers. I equiped my needles and went to help them.
"Fuck, you just don't die," Karkat said as he saw me.
"It's a talent I have aquired," I muttered, stabbing on of the rooks and using the strings attached to the needles to bring him down.
"A good thkill to have," Sollux said, using his psychic powers to make one of the knights collapse. "Thertainly helpth uth out."
Karkat sliced the leg of one of the bishops, causing the metal to split slightly. "What's the plan? Aren't Seers supposed to be good at plans and shit?"
"Yes," I replied, jumping out of the way of a pawn. "I say we find Noir." One of the rooks near us was kicked to the ground by none other than Dirk. Dave was behind him, slicing one of the knights with his sword.
"Even though it's excrutiatingly simple and somewhat lame in the lack of irony or complexity, I agree," Dirk said.
"Fuck yeah. This entire time, it felt like I was the only one that wanted to wreck Noir's shit," Dave said. "Nice to see that you agree, Rose."
"We need to spread out," I said.
"What the fuck for?" Karkat asked. "Shouldn't we, I don't know, follow the fucking trail of destruction if we want to find Noir?"
"Jeguth, dude, grab a fucking pen and write thith down," Sollux said. "He can kill uth eathily, tho going after him directly would be thuithidal."
"And he could teleport away from us if we did find him," Dirk said.
"Right," I said. "Karkat and Sollux, you should go find the White Queen. Dirk, get as many of the others that you can find. Dave and I will follow Noir."
They left Dave and I alone. "So we got stuck with the suicide mission?" he asked.
"Yes."
"And we have to go after this equivalent of a god?"
"Yes."
"Fuck yeah."
"Glad to see how enthusiastic you are."
"Glad to see you still have this fucking impassive mask covering up any possible emotions," Dave said. He started running, and I followed. "Hurry up, Lalonde. We have to catch up with the dog bird tentacle monster thing."
"How descriptive," I muttered, picking up my pace so I could catch up with Dave. We did as Karkat suggested and followed the trail of destruction. We went through damaged buildings, streets, and rubble. We did manage to catch up to Noir. He was stopped midair, fighting someone.
"Is that?" Dave asked, looking at the person Noir was fighting.
"John!" I called. As we had suspected, it was John distracting Noir. He stopped for a moment and waved in a goofy fashion only he could pull off, then cntinued flying around Noir. Dave and I equipped our weapons.
"He can't be serious," Dave said.
"I think he is," I replied.
Dun dun dun! Yeah, I will definitely be updating this tomorrow. I swear. So, I hope you enjoyed, please tell me what you thought, and I will see you later!
Alright, I'm out.
