I changed things up this chapter. Something happened with Caroline after she talked with Silas.
Two more day until the first real Klaroline kiss! It is proven that they kiss. It is in the PROMO. Not a picture, it's in the promo. But sadly after or before they kiss, Caroline mentions Tyler. (Who I still hate with passion) Make sure to watch TVD on Thursdays.
You're Human
Caroline walked to the Grill. It was her sixteenth birthday and no one has even noticed. She was just going to get something to eat and forget this horrible day. When noticed the lights were down. When she opened the door she heard. "SURPRISE" Everyone yelled.
The lights came back on and she saw all her friends and people she knew. She smiled and ran to hug Bonnie and Elena. "Thank you" She said. "Did you think we actually forgot your birthday?" Bonnie said.
"Where's my mom?" She asked.
"I'm sorry Care. She had to work again but she sends you her love" Elena and Bonnie felt terrible when Caroline's smile vanished. "I'm gonna get some air" She said walking out. Matt walked to them. "What's wrong with her? Vicki said we only have the places for two hours" Bonnie nodded and followed Caroline.
She saw Caroline sitting at on a chair crying. She walked over to her. "Care, It's gonna be okay. She loves you"
"Do she really? She can't even be there for my birthday. Work is always more important than me. I hate her Bonnie, I wish I lived with my dad" Caroline said angrily. "No you don't. You're just upset. You love your mom. She is a tough cookie but so are you. You'll be fine. I promise"
"I just wish everything was back to the way it was. I wish I still had a family and my dad didn't live with his boyfriend" Bonnie nodded. She hugged Caroline. You love your mom and it's just been harder for you. You'll be fine. I promise"
"I just want one day where someone can put me first. My dad can't be here because his boyfriends daughter is sick. He chose her over me, His own daughter" Caroline told her. "I know it must be hard. But you still have them"
"Yeah right, It's like Elena's mom and Grams are my real parents"
"Do you want to stay over my house tonight. Grams would allow it. We can have sweets all night and watch movies. The Notebook" Bonnie suggested. Caroline giggled. "That would be great thank you, Bonnie"
"Great. Now come on, I did a lot planning this party"
"Next time remember. Use my favorite color, and please don't do it at the Grill"
"This is why you plan the parties, Care"
Caroline laughed to herself.
She thought about the past. Every moment that made her happy or stronger.
"Hey, What are you doing?" Stefan asked walking in. She shrugged. "Nothing just think about the past. Have you ever just thought what your life would be like if vampires weren't in to. If you weren't a vampire?"
"Well for starters I'd be dead" Caroline laughed. "I think I'd have a big family. A beautiful wife. My brother and I would have a stronger bond. The Salvatore family would've carried on" She nodded. "What do you think would happen"
"I think I'd still hate my mom, Elena and I wouldn't be as close as we are, things would be simpler, and I would end up being a normal housewife. You know making dinner, doing dishes, taking care of the kids, talking about the day I was Miss Mystic Falls" Stefan smiled. "I think that I wouldn't be who I am today" Caroline finished.
"I just hate this. Staying here, fearing for my life, being afraid. But I think if I do die. I'm ready"
"Don't say that" Stefan demanded. "Stefan, you let Elena make the choices. Let me. Silas will be after me soon. You know this is getting really depressing how about we go somewhere. I could use a break" She said. Stefan nodded, knowing she wants to end the conversation.
"We can go on a run. I've wanted to run recently" Stefan suggested. "Usually I'd say no but since I need a distraction from be unpredictable, psychotic, weird life. I'll take anything"
"Get ready then"
Once Stefan left, Caroline went to get dressed.
She wore a work out outfit. Comfortable pants, Tank Top, and Running shoes. She put her hair into a pony tail. Klaus walked in. Caroline frowned. "Where are you going?" He asked. She rolled her eyes.
She didn't say anything. She just looked at herself in the mirror. Klaus frowned. "The silent treatment Love?, What are we eleven?" He chuckled. "One of us is" She muttered under her breath.
"Sweetheart I get that you are upset about what happened but this is just being dramatic"
"You're right. Right now I'm gonna be dramatic with someone who isn't you" She snapped walking out the door.
Caroline stopped taking a deep breath.
"Come on Caroline, We aren't even half way done" Stefan told her. "We aren't! Stefan, I need a break my legs are killing me." She said siting down on the grass. "You're weak" Stefan snorted.
"No, I'm just tired" Stefan shook his head. "You're just distracted. Let everything go Caroline. Forget everything for one second. Just be free" Caroline nodded. She got back up. "Instead of running can we do something else?" Caroline asked.
"Fine. Twenty Push-ups now, Don't even try to do women push-ups" Stefan ordered. Caroline rolled her eyes and grumbled.
She got on the ground and started doing push-ups. "One...Two...Three...Four...Five...Six...Seven...Eight...Nine" Stefan counted along. "Ten...Eleven...Twleve...Thirteen...Fourteen...Fifteen...Sixteen...Seventeen...Eighteen...Nineteen...Twenty"
She heart was pounding. Stefan handed her a water bottle. She drank fast. "You can't chug down water. Calm down and breathe" Stefan told her. She nodded. After a couple of seconds later, She put the water bottle down. "You feeling okay?"
"Yeah just tired"
"Alright. You were a cheerleader. Do some flips" Stefan ordered. She glared at him. "It's called cartwheels and fine. Asshole" She muttered the last part. She stood still for a moment and then ran and did a cart-wheel. She did around five more before she fell. Stefan ran to her.
"Are you okay?"
"Stop asking Stefan. I am fine. Calm down" She said getting up.
"Okay enough exercising, now I teach you a fighting move" He told her. He lifted her elbow. "Let's say I grab your elbow. What are you going to do?" He asked. "I'm going to try to elbow you"
"No and Yes. Their are to ways we can do this. Let's say you elbow me. I bend down and let you go. What do you do after that?"
"I knee you in the face"
"Yeah. The way I was thinking is I grab your elbow, You put your foot behind mine, When I'm distracted you trip me from behind I fall and then I'm down. You run" She nodded. "Let's try it"
"You want me to actually hurt you?" She asked shocked.
"Yes. You can do it"
Stefan grabbed her elbow. Caroline elbowed him in the face, when he bent down she grabbed the back of his face and knead him. He groaned and fell down. "So are we done for today?" She asked innocently while smirking. Stefan chuckled getting up. "Nope just for that run two more miles"
"What?!"
"Now go" Stefan ordered. "I'll be right behind you" Caroline glared and started running. Stefan soon caught up with her.
Caroline's feet hurt so much. "Alright, Come on. We're just going to go home because you smell like rotten fish" Stefan said. Caroline glared at him. She then felt sick. Suddenly she fell down and start puking. Stefan looked away. Once she stopped Stefan helped her up. He gave her a rag. "I think I worked you to hard today. Sorry Caroline" Stefan apologized.
"It's fine. I haven't been feeling well recently"
"How come you didn't say anything?" He asked. "because I didn't want you guys to freak out"
"Like if Silas called" He said. She looked at him softly. "I was going to say something about that but then you and Rebekah-" He cut her off. "Don't blame it on that Caroline. You didn't want me to worry. I'm going to guess Klaus doesn't know that you talked to Silas again"
"I don't want him to know. Especially now that we're fighting"
"This will make things worse. Do you like fighting with Klaus"
"No! I hate it. Today all I could think about we how I regret acting like a bitch to him."
"Then tell him. Don't make things worse by keeping it a secret you might love Klaus but you do remember who he was, Who he is?" Caroline looked at him with a glare. "Who he's pretending to be" She corrected. "That's what Klaus does and that's who Klaus is. He wants people to accept him for who he really is. He feels alone and that's why he kills or hurts people because he didn't have anyone to show him that their is always another choice. Stefan you don't know him like I do. I know who he is, who he pretends to be, and who he wants to be. He doesn't want to be a beast or a monster. He just acts on it because he feels as if that will help him. Stefan just let me handle it"
"Will you? Caroline everything you just said is right. But what happens when he loses control?"
"You're afraid of him. What happened to the Caroline Forbes who didn't care what Klaus had to say, She told him how she felt. She yelled, snapped, and hated him. And now you do as he says. You are weak Caroline. Weak and useless"
"Why are you acting like this Stefan? He won't" Caroline said. She didn't know what was up with Stefan, But she knew she didn't like it. "Caroline...I'm sorry but I don't think You and Klaus should be together. I didn't mean that you are useless."
"You don't think but I do. Go to hell Stefan" She said before turning to walk away.
"Caroline this is Klaus. I can handle him but you-"
"I don't have to. Stefan, he loves me and I love him. What about Rebekah, like she's any better" Stefan sighed. "She's not but I am like her. You, You're innocent"
"I've killed! I killed twelve witches, the cops that kidnapped you and Damon, I killed that man at the carnival!" She yelled. "Yes but how does that match to thousands, millions, billions of lives that Klaus has taken"
"Stay away from me!" She ran away from him.
Stefan still thought Klaus was a monster. After everything they've been through, He still hates Klaus. Klaus might be horrible but he's changed. He's been doing good for her.
Stefan flashed in front of her and grabbed her by the throat.
"Stefan?" She squeaked.
"Time to die Caroline. I need the cure" He said. He bit into her neck.
"Ahh!" Caroline screamed.
"Caroline!" She squinted her eyes open.
It was Klaus.
She screamed and pushed him away. "Stay away from me!" She ordered. "Love, It's me" Klaus told her. He tried to calm her down but it didn't work. She seemed afraid of everything.
"No I was just with Stefan. He was...He was choking me. Where am I?" Caroline asked confused. "You're rumbling Love. You fainted while you and Stefan were running" Klaus said trying to calm her down.
"You're real?"
"Sweetheart, Are you alright?"
"No, No I'm not where is Sophie?" She put her hand on her throat. Klaus looked at her neck. "It's red, Sweetheart. What happened, Are you alright?" Klaus said confused. "No, Klaus I need to talk to Sophie or another witch"
"You need to stay here, For your safety. Besides we're having guest over tonight" Klaus told her. "Vampires?" She asked. "Vampires and a few witches" He answered. "I understand that you are still upset with me, Caroline. But now no one will think of touching or hurting you"
"It isn't right. I need to talk to Sophie. Please?"
"Caroline, Distract yourself. You've had a hard day and you just fainted, Relax" He ordered. "Calm down! I just thought Stefan choked me and now my neck is red, You want me to calm down and relax. Obviously you don't know how I work!"
"What do you want me to do" He said. She could see he was getting frustrated.
"I just... I don't know. Let me help you get ready for tonight. I can cook or something, Maybe help Katherine. Get my mind off these things" Caroline offered.
Klaus smiled.
Maybe they could talk about what happened. "Okay Sweetheart. I'll talk to Sophie for you" Caroline nodded. She felt like her dream was real. She prayed that she'd never have a dream like that again.
Caroline walked downstairs and found Katherine. "You're awake finally. Here I got something for you" Katherine told her. She handed Caroline a book. It said Petrova on it. "What's this?" Caroline asked. "Well I thought maybe you would want to know your real family history, so I brought this book. You can find out about your true ancestors" Katherine said.
"Thank you. This is great" Katherine smiled. "Good now I have business with a little witch upstairs. Have fun" Katherine told her. Caroline nodded and opened the book. She ran her fingers over the page.
"It's not going to read itself" Klaus said. "Hum?" She asked. "You don't have to help Love, Go read it" Klaus told her. Caroline nodded.
Klaus turned to Elijah who was standing there silently. "Niklaus, Do you honestly believe this will be good? At least for tonight, Knowing that Miss Forbes is here?" He asked. "No one will hurt Caroline. You of all people should know that I would never allow that to happen"
"I also know that once in a while we screw up and lose something special or needed"
Klaus chuckled. "I everything under control. I'm doing what Marcel said. I'm not forcing or buying loyalty. I'm growing up-"
"That's a first" Elijah cut him off. "Elijah is there a problem?"
"No, I just want to know where your head is at. I don't want you to break if something happens to that girl" Elijah said brotherly. "I understand Elijah now please. Let me do my work"
Caroline called Sophie off Rebekah's phone.
"I need your help with something"
"Do Klaus know?" Sophie asked. "I need your help please. You don't even need to come over. It's just that, I fainted while running with Stefan today and while I was unconscious, I had a dream or vision or something that had Stefan saying horrible things about Klaus and I. At the end he choked me and bit me. When I woke up, my neck was red but there was no bite marks"
"That is strange. I will help you when I get over there for dinner. Goodbye"
Caroline hung up.
Caroline opened the Petrova book. She looked through pages but stopped when she saw a couple. Their was a man, women, and a little girl. She read what it had to say but stopped when she saw the name Katerina Petrova.
"Katerina was one of the last Petrova's. She went to England to restart but then died from sickness. Her mother and father didn't speak of how they felt. Their daughter was dead. The man she 'loved' hadn't spoke a word about it either. They were afraid that the Petrova line would never carry on. Katerina was never able to finish that Petrova bloodline but another Petrova did. Amelia Petrova had a daughter. Her daughter had a daughter. The Petrova line was known to have mostly girls. Sometimes boys were born but women were most known. Petrova women are beautiful. Soon after Katerina died every Petrova besides Amelia had died from sickness. Amelia carried on the Petrova bloodline" Caroline read.
Caroline wanted to know if it was Katherine or someone else that wrote this book.
Caroline looked through pages and couldn't find anything about her father. She wasn't shocked though. The book was very old. She did see read about the last known Petrova.
The book was a great distraction.
Klaus welcomed the vampires into him home.
He was shocked none of them were afraid or nervous. Marcel walked in. "Don't worry. I told them they need to act normal for their new king" Klaus smirked and nodded. "Where is the lovely Caroline?"
"Here" Caroline said walking to them. "Klaus, Where's Sophie?" She asked. "Not here yet" Klaus answered. "Caroline" Marcel welcomed. "Marcel" She said shortly. "Look no hard feelings about what have happened. Right?" Marcel said. "You did try to kill me and then you stalked me to try to get to Klaus. Sorry it might take a while" Caroline snapped walking away.
"Don't worry about her. She's been having a hard day" Marcel nodded.
Everyone got settled in.
Marcel stood up with his glass of Champaign. "I just want to say no hard feelings to Klaus. It's all a game. You've won and I had to put down the title. But like I say what was mine is now yours. Including New Orléans and these people's loyalty. So let's not give him or his family a hard time tonight" Klaus smirked. Caroline rolled her eyes. Marcel was just being a suck up. He just didn't want to die.
"Thank you Marcel. Now, I will not change Marcel's rules besides one. Witches will be free to use magic. I happen to like witches, and use their magic. So I will tell you most witches have a bit of a flare to them. But everything else the same. Parties will never stop, Eat as many people as you like, and drink yourself dead" Klaus explained. Most of the vampires enjoyed Klaus's speech and new rule. Which comes to a surprise because vampires usually hates witches.
The maids came with the food.
Caroline felt weird being the only human there. Everyone had blood in their drinks. Caroline was having a silent conversation with Katherine while everyone else was talking. They were both surprised no one was giving Klaus a hard time. His speech was boring.
"You've been feeling weird since you talked to Silas?"
"Yes, Do you think it could be a side effect?" Caroline asked. "To what? Making a phone all. This isn't medicine Caroline. This is serious. You said you've felt sick. What if he's messing with you from Mystic Falls?"
"That's not possible"
"Anything can happen"
Caroline sighed. She looked over to Klaus. Klaus was talking with Marcel about the witches. She was surprised Klaus forgave Marcel so easily. Maybe it was just part of his plans. By now Caroline knows when Klaus is faking something or not. He doesn't become friends with people who betray or hurt him. He get revenge in his own way. He grabbed her hand and rubbed it softly. She gave him a small smile.
They still haven't talked about the situation but she wasn't going to bring it up today. She then felt a pain in her head. She thought it was just a migraine. She ran out the room. Klaus looked confused. He went to chase her but Katherine stopped him. "I can handle this"
Klaus looked at Elijah, who nodded. Klaus sat back down.
Katherine walked into the living room. She saw Caroline with a stake. "What are you doing?" Katherine asked. Caroline sighed. "Katherine, I have to talk to Silas. My head felt like it was going to explode in there"
"It's because they are boring. Caroline put the stake down. You're not hurting anyone" Katherine said.
"Give me your phone. Please? I'll do anything" Katherine walked over to Caroline and grabbed her arm. "Come on we are leaving and going back to make Elijah and Klaus look good"
"I'm sorry" Caroline apologized. "For what?"
Caroline then elbowed Katherine, When Katherine bent down, Caroline knead her. She grabbed the stake and stabbed Katherine in the stomach. "What are you doing!" Katherine asked angrily. "I have to do this" Caroline grabbed her phone and ran.
"Elijah!, Klaus!" Katherine yelled.
Klaus and Elijah stood up. "Rebekah, Be a sweetheart and take over this" Rebekah nodded.
When Klaus and Elijah walked into the room they were shocked. "What happened?" Elijah asked taking the stake out of her. "Caroline. She's gone crazy. She's trying to call Silas" Klaus growled.
"Tell Rebekah dinners over. Everyone needs to be gone"
Caroline sat on a tree stump as she called the number.
"Hello, Caroline I assume"
"What did you do to me?" She asked angrily. "How is the food on bourbon street?" Silas asked. "What?" Caroline asked confused. Please tell me he doesn't know, Please tell me.
"I know you're in New Orléans. Smart place knowing I would never think of it until I realized who you'd be with. Do you know that your mother helped and so did Damon. The biggest hint was tracking your phone while we talked. Taking over the police station was pretty easy"
Caroline took a deep breath in and out. "You're lying, I'm not in New Orléans"
"Yes you are because you asked me what did I do to you. I know where you are, so I am able to mess with your head. Did you like that little speech Stefan gave you before he choked and bite you. I am in control now Caroline. See you soon, I would live the days you have left, like theirs no tomorrow because soon for you, There won't be one"
Caroline threw the phone.
She laid her head on the tree. She didn't cry or move or blink. It started to rain and she did the same thing. It was like she was dead. She had no hope. All she had was a moment. Silas is after her, Travelers are or were after her, and all she had was a few weeks. She only had a few weeks to be with the love of her life, to be with Stefan, Katherine, Rebekah, Elena, or Matt.
She was prepared for this but now she isn't and she'll never be.
"Caroline?" She didn't move. She knew it was Klaus. She didn't want to look him in the eye. He kneeled in front of her. "He found me" She whispered softly. She watched his facial expression changed from confused to angry. "I'm scared" She told him.
He carefully picked her up and carried her in his arms.
They flashed back into the house.
Caroline sat on the couch as everyone made a plan.
"This isn't going to be okay. No offense Klaus but you can't take on an immortal, physic witch!" Katherine yelled. Klaus glared, "I have to do something because if I don't he's going to kill my girl and your 'family' member!"
"This isn't helping. Guys, She's shaking" Stefan told them. Klaus sat besides her and rubbed her arm.
"I'm okay, I just...I should've seen this coming. I answered his calls, I knew what he was cable of and I still answered and had a conversation with him. I'm going to die!" Caroline said tears fill her eyes.
"You aren't going to die" A voice said. Caroline's eyes widened while everyone else stared angrily.
"Elena?"
