Hey guys, so today I thought I would work with a chapter on Klaus's POV. So I hope you like it and maybe I'll do it more often. Reminder: I do not own these characters, they come from the television show The Vampire Diaries. Enjoy :)
"Oh fuck!" I say with a sharp pain on my face. I open my eyes to see Elijah and a soccer ball that had seem to have hit me in the face.
"Now you know how Caroline felt when you hit her." He lets out a laugh. "Come on, let's go play some soccer."
"Now brother? It's 8 in the morning on a weekend" I say confused and half asleep.
"Never too early to practice." Elijah exits through the door already to go.
I jump up put on my soccer gear and he'd out as my brother and I run to the park a few blocks away. We toss around the ball, run up and down the streets.
"Come on big brother faster!" Kol yells out. I sprint to catch up. We practice for an hour then play a short game split between us. Of course I won, but it did come close.
My phone starts ringing in my pocket of my shorts. "Hello?"
"Hi, Klaus? It's Hayley." She replies.
"Hey, what's up?"
"I was hoping if you could help me out on some math homework."
"Sure, meet you at the library in 10?" I respond sincere.
"How about we meet at my place? I live alone so it will be quiet."
"Umm," I was not really sure how to respond to her request but it seemed rude if I didn't say yes. "Sure Hayley. I would love to help."
"Be here in 10?"
"Yeah, just text me your address."
I show up to Hayley's apartment and it was true, she lived alone. I ring the doorbell, and I see her coming to answer the door.
"Hey," I say when she answers.
"Hi," she responds, "please try to keep it down, my daughter is sleeping."
My face is in complete shock. "Daughter? I wasn't aware you had a kid."
"Well you had just met me this year, and I'm actually 18. I missed a year to take care of her."
"How do you deal with it now?"
"I'm a part time student, I work 2 jobs when I'm not at school, plus I get a bit of money from the government."
"Where are your parents during all of this?" I asked confused.
"They ditched me as soon as I got pregnant and then I learned that they we're my parents, they adopted me." She invites me in with a gesture of her arm. "You know something is wrong with you when both your parents and adoptive parents leave you."
"That's intense."
"Why do you think I'm always a bitch? It's because I have to keep strong for her." Her head hangs down but then she shakes it off. "So... Math?"
"Yes, yes, of course. But Hayley if you ever need anything let me know."
"Thanks, but for now I just need help catching up in math." She responds.
We studied for 2 hours straight disregarding that her daughter woke up.
"How old is she?" I ask.
"A year and a half. I don't believe in saying 18 months." She gives out a giggle.
"Well she is gorgeous." I respond.
"Thank you." She says, "Listen, I would really love for you to stay longer but I have to drop her off at the babysitter."
"How about if I watch her?" I ask out of nowhere.
She seems confused, "What?"
"Like I said, I would be glad to help. And if babysitting will save you money then I'm here for you."
"Are you sure?" She asks.
"Yes."
"Alright, I will call the babysitter, I'm sure she would love a day off. I will be home at 7, are you sure that is alright?"
"Yes, yes, now go to work."
"Thank you so much," she hugs me with a tight squeeze. "You have no clue how much this means to me."
"It really is no problem." She lets go, explains to her daughter who I was and that I could be trusted, then she says goodbye and that she would see her later.
After a few hours Hayley came back home. Turns out the kid actually like me. Hayley put her to sleep and we continued talking.
"Please don't tell anyone about her. It's bad enough being the laughing stock of my family." Hayley begged.
"It's alright you can trust me." I say and give her a hug.
I leave her apartment worried but then I remember how strong she is, almost like a wolf.
I turn on my phone. I had forgotten I had turned it off when I had gotten to Hayley's place. Only one text message appears on my phone from Caroline. 'Hey, I'm busy tonight. I hope you didn't have anything planned. Love you.' All tide with a winky face at the end.
I reply, 'Sorry for the late reply. I did have something planned but I got caught up in something. Tomorrow?'
Within a second she texts me back, 'Sure' attached with a picture of her smiling.
I look at the background of the photograph and I don't recognize it. I mention it curiously, 'Where are you?'
'At a family friend's house.'
'Anyone I know?'
'Taylor.'
'Taylor?'
'Yeah, his mom invited me for dinner last night. Listen Klaus, I've been practically family to them since I was in fifth grade. They missed talking to me and I missed them too.'
'Okay.' I reply, attempting to make sure that my anger does not reflect through the text message. 'I just left Hayley's house to help her out with math. Hope you don't mind.'
'Alright, I'll see you tomorrow.'
'Actually,' I respond with one message, 'We should meet up now.' I reply with another text.
'I just told you, I'm having dinner.'
'Dinner? You're there for diner?'
All of the sudden my phone starts ringing. It's Caroline, I answer. "Hello?"
"What the hell is wrong with you?" her voice seems calm but annoyed.
"I'm sorry, you're at dinner with a guy who is trying to steal you away from me and you're saying what is wrong with me?" My voice rises. "Where are you? I'm coming over there."
"You are not coming over here and you are going to stop screaming and act like a decent person. Don't you trust me?"
"Of course I trust you, love, but…"
She cuts me off, "Then trust that I love you." I stay silent for a while, Caroline continues, "Goodnight Klaus, I will see you tomorrow." She hangs up and guilt takes over me.
Night comes closer and I'm ashamed of how I acted and how hypocritical I must sound through the other side of that conversations. I know Hayley has a crush on me but I am for sure that she likes Tyler even more. I text Caroline just saying, 'I have an idea, I'll explain later.'
The morning comes as I wake up and Hayley agrees to meet with me. I go over to her apartment to see her and her daughter and to talk to her about what has been going on.
She opens the door, "Klaus, it was a surprise to receive a text from you so early in the morning. You said you had to talk to me?"
"Caroline and I wanted to get you and Tyler together."
"What? Why?" She says confused, quite frankly so am I.
"I want you to be happy and I want Taylor out of my love life." I create a brief pause waiting for an answer but she says nothing. "Listen, I know you like him and I know that as soon as he meets your little girl then I know that he will like you just as I did. You are strong, special, loyal, and do not forget, gorgeous."
"So what's your plan?" she asks.
"Already in action, go put on something nice. Oh and don't bother calling the sitter, she's coming with us." I say with a smile on my face."
"What are you planning?"
"Just go."
As you guys can probably see, this fanfiction is coming to an end. I know a lot of you guys' love it and I had so much fun writing it but I'm not really feeling this story anymore. Thank you for reading again, there will most likely be one or two more chapters. Thank you for the support and for all the amazing comments but our time must end.
