Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4

Chapter 9: The Final Gathering

Michelle had seen some of the kids running toward the gas station where she left Leo and Nick, she did not have much room in the jeep so she decided to do something that was well along the lines of suicidal.

"Brandon," She said as she helped fit some students into the jeep, "I need you to drive them back to the gas station."

"What?" he asked, he was certain he heard her wrong.

"Someone has to keep the Sawyers off your tail," she said, leaving no room for an argument, "otherwise this is all for naught."

"But Michelle.." Melissa tearfully whined.

Michelle shook her head, "Go, while you still can." she closed the door and started toward where they found the students.

Brandon sat at the wheel for a minute, contemplating on what to do, but he eventually sighed and drove away, following the students who were still on foot and ahead of them. He did not want to leave Michelle to fend for herself against whatever was out there but it needed to be done.

Benny and Michelle always had a feeling that they would end up having to face the Sawyers again, be it because of Kathryn or not they knew they would have to face them again. It wasn't possible at first, after all Benny and Michelle swore that they watched some of the Sawyers die, leaving only the small girl alive and alone. Then news of more unsolved Texan mass grave suddenly flood about, prompting Benny and Michelle to become slightly bothered and worried. They first passed it off as the remaining graves but overtime Michelle realized that the Sawyers were still alive and more than likely waiting for them too.

Benny only stopped when he could not run anymore, Kathryn's weight and his old age were getting to him. "Jeez," he panted after letting Kathryn sit against a tree, "I haven't run like that in years."

"Really?" Kathryn asked, keeping an eye out for any Sawyers, "When was the last time?"

Benny tensed up, he would have normally spoken without thought but this was Kathryn, if he spoke about his last time here then the truth would come out and at this particular moment that would not be a good idea.

"Later." he said, finally pushing himself up from his slouching state. "Right now, we need to get out of here."

Kathryn nodded her head, "Right." She stood up from where she sat, stumbling a bit when she accidentally put too much weight on her ankle.

"You okay to walk?" he asked, Kathryn wasn't heavy but she wasn't light either. He wasn't sure he could continue to carry her around when they were on the run.

"I'll be okay Benny" she smiled as she took a few steps to prove she was okay. "If worse comes to worse I'll suck it up."

Benny was skeptical but took her word for it, "Alright, if you say so." He reloaded his shotgun, cursing when he realized that some of his extra shells fell from his pocket during his episode earlier.

"You still have that other gun though." Kathryn noted hopefully, "We'll just be really careful about how often you shoot."

"Yeah," he sighed, "so why did you decide to runaway on this trip?"

Kathryn stilled for a moment, she really should have expected that though she was hoping she'd hear it after they got out. "I-I...I didn't...We..." she stuttered before she finally had her thought process sorted out. "I've never missed a field trip and this was going to be the biggest one yet so I really didn't want to miss it."

Benny sighed, he told Brandon not to be such a pushover with Kathryn but he knew she would still want to go on the trip over staying at home and being the only senior in town for a week. "Really Kathryn, I would not have thought you'd go to this extent."

Kathryn sighed, starting to walk with Benny as he led her deeper into the swamp. They happened to be near a disgusting bog, this was part of the area Kathryn had not been near when she was out there long ago. "I know and once we entered Texas I really felt bad about lying to you guys."

Benny figured that, Kathryn had never been good at lying to anyone and this was definitely something he and Michelle knew she would become riddled with guilt from. "Let's just get out of here."

"But we can't!" Kathryn grabbed Benny's arm, "I promised Karen I'd get her out of the house!"

"Kat-"

"Please Benny." she whined softly, "With Tex and Junior out looking for us, the other three are completely defenseless."

Benny sighed, it was a suicide mission and it could jeopardize everyone's chances of escaping but he knew he could not leave the blonde to die or worse, become the mother of another Sawyer. "Alright, we'll go."

Kathryn smiled and eagerly followed Benny back whence they came, she and Karen had been best friends since they were little and she would not let her friend die here.

Michelle cautiously walked along the road, she darted her eyes all about the scenery looking for anything odd. Truthfully, it all had naturally changed but the air of the place had not. Nothing felt peaceful or quiet just black and ominous. She knew she was walking right toward the slaughterhouse known as the Sawyer residence but she had too. Especially since now she knew that Benny was over there, for he probably already had the Sawyers chasing him and Kathryn all about the swamp.

She was barely armed, all she had was an axe she found herself favoring over a gun or knife. If she was to have a run in with Tex or Tink, she'd be okay but should she face Junior...her grave among those who came here before tonight would be inevitable.

She took in a deep breath and continued forward, she could not be scared or she would not survive. She needed to be on her guard and keep pressing onward, she never avenged her late boyfriend's death nor did she finish what had been started all those years ago.

She knew the Sawyers were waiting for her and Benny to return, with or without Kathryn was gamble but she knew that eventually they, as two sole survivors, would have to return and end this reign of terror or die trying.

As she prepped herself for an encounter with something, she saw two head lights connected to a large truck. One she recognized slightly from her previous encounter. "Damn it!"

Kathryn limped a bit but overall her ankle was doing quiet well. "Man I wish we never listened to that chick."

"Chick?" Benny asked, "Who?"

"That blonde," Kathryn mumbled darkly, "She told us to go down that road."

Benny could not recall any blonde woman, however he did remember the little blonde girl Michelle had told him about last time so he assumed that they were the same person. "You can't change the past, let's just get through the present."

Kathryn nodded her head and followed Benny, however, neither expected to have Tex pop up and tackle Benny to the ground.

"Benny!" Kathryn tried to get Tex off but the dueling men were fighting so violently that Kathryn was forced to run away and hide so that she did not end up captured again. Besides, with Benny keeping Tex busy she could save Karen without too much trouble.

Benny kicked the cannibalistic cowboy off of him, "You sick bastard!"

"Takes one to know one!" Tex growled as he lunged at Benny again, "You kidnapped my daughter, you killed my wife!"

Benny tried to punch Tex but the cowboy was faster and kicked Benny in the stomach. "If you weren't fucking cannibalistic murderers then we wouldn't have taken Kat or killed your woman!" That earned him and boot to the gut.

"Her name is Hunter!" Tex barked, "If it wasn't for the fact that you could convince her into realizing she's my child I would kill you right here. But as things stand.." Tex grabbed the weakened Benny and dragged him back to the Sawyer Household.

Kathryn ran toward the house, staying among the shadows until she reached a window. Peeking through, she found Baby cleaning up Tink's remains.

"How are we gonna make it without Tink?" Mama's mechanical voice cried pitifully, "We're doomed without him."

Zeke tried to comfort his grandmother but it was useless, the elderly woman was finally sensing the loss of her once large family. "Mama, please don't cry."

Baby also voiced her wish for her beloved grandmother to not weep. "Tex and Daddy will kill Benny and Michelle, and they'll bring back Hunter."

Mama did not take that so well but her hysterics did go down a bit. Kathryn thought about waiting until they left the kitchen but she knew that would not be a great idea. She needed to get to the room upstairs and the only way she could do that is through a window.

Kathryn scavenged about the backyard of the Sawyer House, she found an old ladder but she still feared being caught since it was an eyesore and creaked rather loudly. Still it would suffice for now. Gently leaning the old ladder against the roof, she took one last moment check to make sure the three Sawyers were not going to find her soon before climbing up to the second floor.

She tried to be quiet, it was hard thanks to the ladder but she managed to reach the second floor with no problem. She kept an eye out for the Sawyers as she climbed into the window in Tex's room. She would be able to quickly navigate to the room that held her best friend now but her concern now was how to unlock the door.

Surely they have a key around here somewhere. She thought to herself as she looked about Tex's room, though even she admitted that it could very well be with Junior. But, he did not look like the type to carry anything past his chainsaw with him. Maybe he'd hide it in the door frame.

Now with a place to search, Kathryn tiptoed out of the room toward Junior's. She felt like she was about to hyperventilate from the suspense as she ran her fingertips across the wood surface of the frame, seeking a hole or jutted out cover of a hole. She was about to give up when she finally felt the cool metal of a key ring and key.

Sighing her thanks, Kathryn double checked on the Sawyers before sliding the key into the key hole. She prayed that the lock would not make too much noise and attract unwanted, which it did not thankfully. To what god is out there, thank you. She carefully opened the door, she unable to see anything due there not being any light but Karen could see that it was Kathryn who entered .

"Kat!" she hugged Kathryn, whispering her joy. "You came back!"

Kathryn smiled, "Of course, I promised remembered." Brought back to reality, Kathryn tugged Karen out of the room. "Let's get outta here."

Karen nodded her head and followed her best friend out of the room into another. She didn't protest, as she knew Kathryn had a way out though still being in the house was still bothering her.

"Climb down the ladder, I'll follow you." Kathryn lightly pushed Karen toward the window as she took watch for a Sawyer.

"Are you sure?" Karen asked as she climbed out the window.

"Just be careful and quiet." Kathryn warned, her friend was reluctant but she climbed down the ladder just like she was told to.

Kathryn slowly followed, she was afraid that someone may have caught onto her plan but nothing happened so she continued on with Karen. She carefully climbed down the ladder and told Karen where everyone was.

"Are you sure they won't get caught again?" the blonde asked worriedly, "Won't they look there for them?"

Kathryn thought about that but then she realized that the Sawyers were more after her and Benny than the teens. "No, I think they are more interested in myself and Benny at the moment. After all, Benny killed one."

Karen nodded as she followed Kathryn to the swamp, "I heard that, that old lady has been wailing since then."

Kathryn shrugged, "What the hell did she expect? They're kidnappers and murderers."

Karen shrugged, "Oh well."

Kathryn was about to lead Karen toward the swamp, and eventually to Last Chance but the monster truck returned. "Quick, hide!" she hissed to Karen, the girls hid behind the house, just below a window.

"What's he doing back here?" Kathryn asked to herself, "Did he get Benny?"

However, she did not anticipate that the person being dragged into the house was Michelle. Kathryn nearly ran out to get to her but managed to suppress that urge.

"What happened?" Karen asked, unable to see past Kathryn, "Did he our friends?"

Kathryn shook her head, "No, they got Michelle, I can't leave her."

"But Kat.."

Kathryn shook her head, "They came here to help us, without them we are lost. I have to save her, I'm sure Benny's coming for us anyways."

"Then let me help you," Karen insisted, "you can't get away a second time without help.

Kathryn had to agree with that, "Fine, try to hijack the truck." With that, she left Karen alone again.
