Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4

Chapter 11: The Saw Is Family

Kathryn was a bit surprised to see that the house was still burning while standing but thought nothing of it. All she wanted to see what that it was burning and there no one who made it out.

"I doubt anyone got out." Leo said as he looked around a bit, "If anyone did make it out, they'd be as good as dead."

"Yeah," she said softly, "But still, I just wanna be sure."

Leo nodded in agreement, "I'm gonna check the back, you wanna come?"

Kathryn shook her head, "No, I'll look around toward the swamp. If anyone got out that's where they'd go."

Leo was hesitant to let Kathryn explore alone but he let go nonetheless. If someone was out there he knew she would defend herself and probably win too. "Okay, meet you back at the truck?"

Kathryn smiled and agreed, "Yeah, see ya." turning away from the house to the swamp forest. She had not truly believed her father died yet, she knew that he would not leave so easily. Not when she knew he promised her mother that they would all be reunited and she knew that without ever having to hear it from him.

Kathryn, first, took the axe the boys had left in the jeep for safety reasons. Just because Tex was her father did not mean he would not kill her, especially after her best friend just burned their family. She then dared to enter the swamp, looking for the very man who sired her.

Tex fought against hissing in pain, he and Junior had both made it out at first but the latter had returned into the house in an attempt to save Zeke. Neither had realized that the young boy had went upstairs to escape the fire and when Junior hurried back into the house to save his son the shed that held much of Tink's and Junior's 'toys' had exploded, that allowed the fire to quickly reach the second floor. Tex found it extremely hard not to howl in fury as he heard Zeke cry before Junior's chainsaw sounded along with meaty flesh, the blood splatters on one of the remaining windows told Tex that Junior was forced to kill Zeke. Tex also assumed that Junior killed himself or was letting the fire eat him alive in sorrow.

Tex froze when he saw the truck return, along with a jeep. He hadn't expected Hunter to return so quickly, he had figured she would leave thinking the explosion killed them. He also noticed that Benny wasn't with them, had he been left somewhere?

"I'll look around toward the swamp." he stared in amazement as his little girl correctly assumed where he was."If anyone got out that's where they'd go."

Tex knew Hunter would find him, the determination he managed to see in her eyes said she had a bone to pick with him, so he hid deeper into the swamp, more toward the forest part of it. If they were to confront each other than he'd rather they do so without anyone else to interrupt them.

He made sure to keep Hunter at a distance, she knew he was there but she didn't know where or what he was planning. He wouldn't hurt her, he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he caused her physical harm but anything past that was a given.

"I know you're there." Hunter called out, the two were quite far from the house.

Tex didn't say anything, what could he say really? With all the wrong he'd done in her eyes what could he possibly say to her?

"Don't try to hide from me." she growled, "I know you made it out, Tex."

Now that stung a bit, she knew he was her father and yet she still did not address him as such. Then again, he probably didn't deserve to be call her father at this point.

"Why are you still here, Hunter?" Tex stepped out from behind a tree, he was unarmed which did not bother him one bit. "I would have thought you'd leave me to die out here."

Kathryn shook her head, "I knew someone was going to get out of the house and I figured it was you since you promised Lacie to reunite us."

That hurt worse than her calling him Tex, Lacie had done Hunter no wrong and here the girl was rejecting the mother she never even met. "Don't say your mother's name like that! You didn't know her!"

Kathryn scoffed, "If she fell for the likes of you how good of a person could she be?"

Tex growled, Hunter may be their daughter but he would not allow her to mock Lacie. Lacie was a good person, she greatly frowned upon the Sawyers murderous ways but because they would be her new family she gave in to their lifestyle. "You know nothing of Lacie! She was innocent toward the crime we committed, she never once hurt another like we had."

Tex took a step toward Kathryn, he was furious at her but he would never hurt her. "Why should I believe that? You killed my teachers, kidnapped my classmates, killed two of them, one of which was my friend, kidnapped my best friend and did god-knows-what to her, and killed the two people I looked up to most in this world!" she growled angrily, her grip on the axe tightened as she spoke, "Why should I ever listen to you and your view of Lacie!" Kathryn swung at Tex, whether or not she hit him remains to be seen.

Kathryn sat in one of the cold metal chairs of the police station, her classmates were all beside her as well since the police needed to interview everyone about the incident. Kathryn hadn't spoken much once she concluded her meeting with her father, all she said was that there was no one out there and that she just wanted to go home.

"Kathryn Anderson-Jones?" the receptionist called from her desk, "You have a phone call."

Kathryn cocked her head a bit but got out of her chair and went toward the desk. "Who is it?" she asked the lady as she handed her the receiver.

The lady shrugged her shoulders and replied, "He said he was your uncle."

Uncle? Kathryn glance between the lady and the receiver before taking the phone and answered it cautiously "Hello?"

"Kathryn!" the voice sounded eccentric and too happy for Kathryn to feel comfortable talking to. "Thank goodness you're okay!"

"I-I'm sorry." she stuttered as the woman left the desk with some files, "But who are you?"

The voice laughed in a precisely manic way, "Why Kathryn, I'm your uncle."

Kathryn wasn't fooled one bit, Brandon's brother was dead and Melissa had no brothers. "Who are you and stop lying." She said in a hushed tone, not wishing to gain any attention from the nosy police.

The laughter stopped, she could hear other voices on the line though they muffled before a new voice flooded her ears. "Hello Hunter," he said in a respectable public tone, "this is your older uncle Drayton and we called to let you know that the saw is family."

Suddenly Kathryn heard a chainsaw rev up and the sound of a woman screaming before all she got was the dial tone. Drayton's last words burned into her mind as the dropped the phone. The Saw Is Family.
