Hey. I need to say something now; I lost all of my inspiration in Code Lyoko. I have now decided to stop this story and my drabbles one. All of my current stories will stay online and will never be deleted. I am starting to make a Homestuck fanfiction with FOUR Original Characters. At the bottom is a short cutout from the first chapter of "Another Glitch in the Code," my first-to-come Homestuck story! The story won't be published until a fair amount of chapters are pre-made.
Disclaimer: I do not own Code Lyoko in any way. I only own Sero.
(Aelita's P.O.V, 3rd person)
As the minutes passed, the group got curious of Jeremie's and Sero's absence. it has been about three minutes since the starting couple left to who-knows-where.
"So, does anyone have any clue where the Einsteins went?" Odd asked, moving his spoon around his empty plate. Odd only paid good attention about the others if he got bored out of his mind, or when he suddenly became the 'mentor' of the group.
"Well it is unusual, should I send Jeremie a text asking if he's okay?" Aelita asked, looking at the others, who either shrugged or nodded. Yumi gave her a look of approval, telling Aelita she could if she wanted to. She typed up a simple message to Jeremie something like "Are you two okay? The others are wondering."
A short time later, Jeremie responded with the text of "I am now.", which slightly confused Aelita, but felt that whatever Sero and Jeremie resolved whatever they wanted to talk about. As the group started to leave for classes, Jeremie's computer started to make a similar beep. Since the 'big' attack in May, XANA's attacks have been more relentless, most likely wanting to remove the return program completely. We all looked at each other, waiting for someone to protect the school. Ulrich broke the short silence.
"I'll stay behind, if there is an attack on earth. Then I can deal with it." Ulrich said as Aelita started to send a quick message about the attack to Sero and Jeremie. Shortly after, she put away her phone and gave the others a nod as they started to run towards the factory while Ulrich stayed behind at the cafeteria door.
(Sero's P.O.V, 1st person)
After getting the text from Aelita, Jeremie ran towards the Factory while I started trying to find Ulrich around school. Even a sprint from the park entrance to the cafeteria, where Ulrich most likely is, somehow already exhausted me. Two or three minutes later, I found Ulrich by the cafeteria door, his hard breathing visible in the morning air.
"Ulrich! Any *wheeze* idea what *wheeze* XANA's attack is?" I said, trying to get my breath back even though my lungs started to struggle. This was unusual. The air around Kadic wasn't this thin. Was this XANA's attack? Like the others said before, XANA wasn't big on doing the same kind of attack, except for the Spectres. "Was the air *wheeze* this thin *wheeze* a few minutes ago? If so, I *wheeze* really hope this is all to *wheeze* the attack." I added on, putting more stress on my already frail lungs.
"It wouldn't be the strangest attack he has done yet. If you are finding it that hard to breathe, then don't keep hurting yourself." Ulrich said, taking in a deep breath between sentences as he noticed my uneven breathing. Was I that out of shape at the moment? I started to calm my body down, letting my lungs work without as much stress. "I hope that the other kids and teachers are safe in the classrooms." Ulrich commented. I moved my gaze to the ground, ignoring the sudden silence that followed the next minute.
"This is *wheeze* bad, the air is *wheeze* still getting thinner. Even *wheeze* if there is no Spectre, we won't *wheeze* last long." I said, straining my lungs even more. Think Sero, why would XANA attack with less oxygen in the air? Okay step one; symptoms related to lack of oxygen: Usually physical and mental fatigue, difficulty breathing, feeling off-balanced, and a tingling feeling in the body. Nothing else too serious besides the occasional fever or great feeling of nausea. Extended or sudden exposure rarely causes unconsciousness.
Step two; assess the state of the affected people. Besides my lungs being abused by the lack of air, I started to feel cold even though a typical September morning in France was anything but that. I looked over to Ulrich, who is now starting to get the same labored breathing as me, along with looking slightly tipsy. As if it really could get worse, two dark energy clouds came from the slightly opened cafeteria door. The Spectres started to take form, but something was amiss; Instead of becoming a clone of a person, both Spectres simply took on a humanoid shape while keeping their ominously dark color. The Spectres simply stood there, watching us.
"I am not in *wheeze* the mood or the condition for this." Ulrich said, trying to get some stamina that wasn't there. "Are the others *wheeze* even close to deactivating *wheeze* the tower?" He added on, trying to look for a solution out of this. We were both at our physical lows. Were the others on Lyoko doing any better?
(William's P.O.V, third person)
"Virtualization." Jeremie said, as William and Odd landed feet-first on the digital ground of the Forest Sector. Since he rejoined the group, William didn't act as overconfident as he originally did before. Even with his powerful abilities, he still had to be careful. Because XANA gave him his powers, XANA's creatures usually prioritized him in combat, making him the first or second Warrior devirtualized. William looked over to his left, where Odd was loading up his arrows. Scanning the environment, there were no monsters in sight, which was both good and bad, considering the lack of cover in the Forest Sector.
"Jeremie, any idea what XANA's attack is yet?" Odd said, looking at their current position. The tower was far away in the distance, with a long, unbroken piece of land connecting the Warrior's spawning area to the activated tower.
"Not yet, but my weather instruments are showing some unusual results. Aelita and Yumi should be coming in about now." Jeremie said, his typing heard in the background. Shortly after, Yumi and Aelita joined them. As the two landed on the ground, they checked their surroundings.
"Welcome ladies. It looks like today will be a direct route. Will that be one-way or round trip?" Odd joked, bowing to Yumi and Aelita.
"Thanks but no thanks Odd. Jeremie, can we get our vehicles?" Yumi said, preparing her fans for a sudden attack. Aelita rubbed her bracelet, turning on her light pink wings.
"Vehicles are coming in about now. No enemies are showing up on the radar, which is either good or bad." Jeremie said. There was a sudden halt in his typing. "That's weird, the supercomputer is showing low atmospheric pressure around the school." Jeremie added on, confusion in his voice. After a bit, the Overwing and Overboard virtualized. Everyone promptly got on their vehicles and started to advance towards the tower.
About halfway to the tower, XANA materialized four Krabs between us and the tower. Right away the monsters started firing, forcing everyone to split off from each other, with Yumi and Aelita taking a left while Odd and William went to the right. Two of the Krabs went back to the tower to protect it, while the others separated to take the four kids down.
"William! Try to get it from behind, I'm going to distract it." Odd yelled to the smoky fog that was still William. He mentally nodded to Odd as the smoke started to maneuver around the Krab, dodging the lasers it shot at him. Failing to move fast enough, William took a hit from the laser, forcing him to solidify. Unable to react, William simply watched as the Krab lurched forward as it started to devirtualize from a volley of arrows to the weak spot. The Krab fell forward, managing to stab William with a leg, devirtualizing both of them. A few seconds later he appeared back in the scanner, clutching his chest.
"Why does devirtualization still hurt like hell after so many times?" William muttered to himself as he walked out of the scanner and to the elevator. After it went up, he talked to Jeremie, his chest pain numbed out of his mind.
"How's the situation for Lyoko and the school?" William asked Jeremie, who intently looked at the screen.
"When you and Odd took out that Krab, the one that was after Yumi and Aelita retreated to the tower, making it nearly impossible to enter." Jeremie replied, quickly inspecting everyone's avatars. Odd had 50 life points, Yumi had 70, and Aelita had 60. "And the school is going under an unusual attack, the digital barometer is showing extremely low atmospheric pressure." He added, opening a menu showing 32.265 kPa, which was decreasing each second.
"Is thirty-two bad?" William asked in response to the number displayed in front of him.
"To put that number in perspective, Atmospheric pressure at sea level is on average 101 kPa. The amount of air at the school is lower than on top of Mount Everest, and that number is still going down." Jeremie said, his face showing stress.
"Are there any Spectres at the school?" William asked, wanting to know more of the situation.
"Two, but something is... off about them." Jeremie said as he opened a new page, showing an active video link from a security camera at the school. The video showed Sero and Ulrich simply standing by the cafeteria entrance, trying to catch their breath as two Spectres looked at them. But the part that weirded him out was that the Spectres were simply dark energy shaped like humans instead of a specific person. "I need to go help them somehow." William replied.
"Are you crazy!? Your lungs wouldn't handle the drastic change in oxygen. Those two can only stand because they were present during the decrease in atmospheric pressure! And Sero has Asthma, so he could be experiencing worse symptoms than Ulrich. Plus if the attack keeps going on like this, there won't be any air left at all!" Jeremie yelled back protectively, making it very clear that he didn't want William to go. But he didn't care, friends were in trouble.
"Sorry Jeremie, but our friends need help." William said as he went into the elevator and pressed the up button. He heard Jeremie's protest as the elevator made its ascent. William wasted no time as he quickly made his way through the sewers on his skateboard. about two minutes later, William found himself standing above the pothole for the sewer.
As William took a breath in, he nearly choked. While he expected the thin air, he didn't expect the air this hostile to him. William contemplated going back down but he pushed that thought away. Struggling to keep a steady breath, he put the cover back on as he quickly made his way to the cafeteria where he saw Sero and Ulrich by the door.
The two looked pretty beat up, Sero was taking in extremely large breaths on the ground while Ulrich did the same, shifting his weight to the wall, hoping not to fall. The Spectres simply stood still, their blank faces looking at the exhausted teenagers. One of the Shadows turned to look at William while the other slowly advanced towards Sero and Ulrich. William started to backtrack but then he remembered his friends slowly dying, instead quickly moving between the second Spectre and Ulrich.
"What do you *wheeze* want XANA! Is this another *wheeze* sick game of yours?" William yelled, fully intent on making himself look threatening. The Spectre closest to him stopped moving and looked at the second one for a few seconds. The Spectres stared back at him, seemingly hurt by his words.
"Why do you keep *wheeze* torturing us?! I'm perfectly okay with letting *wheeze* you stay but must you constantly threaten *wheeze* the world?!" William shouted angrily at the shadows. They almost seemed confused at this point, slightly tilting their heads. William looked back at his teammates; both of them were on the ground gasping for air with Sero on his back and Ulrich on his stomach. Glancing back at the Spectres, the closer one held out its hand as an offer for help. William considered the offer. The would-be Spectres haven't used any types of attacks nor taken a form of a person nor made any type of sounds. He started to feel drowsy and knew that he needed to hurry. He needed to do something incase the others on Lyoko couldn't finish in time. If Jeremie is seeing him now he would undeniably be pissed off.
"You know *wheeze* what? Forget it. *wheeze* Help me take them to *wheeze* the sewers, it's too *wheeze* dangerous for us to stay here!" William said as he quickly lifted up the unconscious Ulrich and handed him to the first Shadow. The second Shadow moved towards the first one, helping it carry Ulrich's weight. William moved to Sero, picking him up bridal style.
"William, *wheeze* what are *wheeze* you *wheeze* thinking? This *wheeze* is *wheeze* -" Sero started to say but his voice began to croak out as he needed to resume his heavy breathing. Sero looked at the Shadows behind him holding up Ulrich as they followed William to the sewer.
"Look Sero, get mad at me *wheeze* all you want but trust me *wheeze* on this; these *wheeze* Shadows aren't XANA's. I know it, just *wheeze* believe in me." William said, further torturing his lungs. As the sewer manhole cover came within view, William started to feel tipsy and unbalanced. He felt this feeling before. He needed to act fast or he'll be unconscious any second. Placing Sero on the ground, William focused on the manhole cover. Unfortunately, the lack of air drained any energy that he left, leaving him unable to remove the cover. As William attempted to regain his strength, the Shadows holding Ulrich put him on the ground and helped with the cover, taking it off easily.
"Tha- *wheeze* -nks." William said. Suddenly he found himself on the ground, exhausted beyond belief. William blacked out.
Sero's P.O.V, first person)
My eyes instantly popped open as I took in a full breath of fresh air. I looked around, seeing that I was by an Oak tree with Ulrich and William sleeping against the tree. I thought about waking them up but my phone vibrated from a text which came from Jeremie.
"Is everyone okay? Why did William trust those Spectres?"
You think for a minute about the shadowy figures. Were they Spectres? They certainly didn't act like one normally would. No electricity, no spooky laughter, and no shapeshifting. You reply to Jeremie.
"I'm not sure Jeremie. They didn't act like Spectres and William must've figured that those Shadows weren't Spectres. Maybe they're different?"
Before Jeremie could reply to you, you send him another text.
"And for our relationship Jeremie, I think we just went too fast at first. So how about we start over?
Sending the text, you start to wake up William and Ulrich from their peaceful slumber. Feeling your phone vibrate, you look at it as Jeremie and the others come out of the manhole.
"Okay."
AN: I would like to say thanks for having the patience for me to give you the last chapter I will most likely make for this story. Review if you wish.
Here are three cut-outs for my next story, "Another Glitch in the Code.":
A young man sits in his computer chair. Today is the 14TH OF APRIL and the new game, SBURB, has been out for only one day. And in that one day, Earth, or at least Saint Petersburg, is basically facing ARMAGEDDON. You look at Pesterchum on your MOROS internet browser, where three of your few friends are still online. None of your other friends have been on since Sburb made its release, and you can only think of the endings they have faced.
Two TWINS looks out their window. It has been ONE DAY since Sburb came out and the world is already ending, with much fear from them. The female looks over their room one more time again. On both of their beds lie their LAPTOPS. The laptops are functionally similar, but the twins decided to personalize them, with the girl using a decal of a Yin-Yang and the brother using the iconic "Blue Marble" picture of Earth by NASA. Besides being a Christmas present, it is the twins' main mode of entertainment due to not much happening in their small hometown of Bangor, Maine.
A young woman stands in her room as the Earth is FACING DESTRUCTION outside the window. This has happened since yesterday's release of the game SBURB, a game that was well rated in its previews. The same people would likely have changed their thoughts if they were still alive. The exact state of the world is unknown, as most communication services have taken SEVERE DAMAGE. Thankfully you still receive somewhat stable internet connection somehow. You see your Sis walking from the nearby woods back to the house, giving yourself confidence of her survival. She can take down anything that stands in her way.
