Chapter 14 In Which I had already Written this when I had Decided to Discontinue this Story and Wanted it Out of my Head
Danny's PoV******************************************************
"Well, shit." I stared at the huge rock tornado that was completely wreaking the street. Worry consumed me. She must be so confused and scared! She doesn't have any memories from before, so how could she know what's happening!?
I knew I had to stop Tero before she attracted the Titans, so I turned into Phantom and flew into the stone storm, fazing through anything that came near me. Tero was floating in the center, curled up in a little ball with tears streaking down from her bright yellow eyes. Flying up to her, I cupped her face in my hands and brushed away some of the tears. "Its okay, Tero." I told her, knowing she could hear me over the wind. "I'm fine. You're fine. He's gone. You don't have to be upset anymore."
"Danny?" she asked hesitantly as the yellow started to fade from her eyes and the storm died down a little.
"Yes, Tero," I smiled at her, knowing that she'd never seen me in ghost form before. "It's me, Danny. Can you calm down? Just take some deep breaths." The storm died down completely in only a minute and, soon, the only thing keeping her up in the air was me.
Tero looked around scared, like she was expecting the Batman to jump out of nowhere and attack us. "Danny…what's happening to me?"
I smiled gently and hugged her. "You're a meta, Tero. Just like all of us." And with that, I teleported us back to the shelter by merely wishing for us to go home.
Robin's PoV********************************************************
I crouched down on the destroyed street and picked up a piece of road. Starfire, Beast Boy, and Cyborg were out searching for the perpetrator while Raven was currently meditating after finding a peculiar aura. She's been gone for a while now, perhaps I should go check on her…
I threw the piece away from me and started pacing, my cape flowing out behind me. It looked so much like Terra's work when she lost control, but the cave collapsed on her! And didn't she learn control from Slade!?
"Robin," I whirled around to see my mentor.
"Batman! What are you doing here!?"
The Dark Knight walked closer to me with his permanent Bat-scowl in place. "I'm here chasing an elusive criminal. While I was trying to apprehend him, a young meta interrupted me and helped him escape."
"If you give us the criminal's profile, the Titans could help you." I tried to talk him into it while knowing he didn't approve of the Titans. "We know this city better than you and can flush him out quicker."
Batman seemed to sigh and held out a manila folder. "You deserve to know…but you won't like it." Narrowing my eyes at him, I snatched the folder from him and opened it to see 3 pictures taken from security cameras.
The first was of a hooded figure fighting with Batgirl. The figure seemed to have been moving with extreme grace and skill. The second photo was of the figure crouching over a girl protectively, this time unhooded but facing away from the camera. The third was a close up of the villain's face.
"Danny," I gasped, knowing it was the same person I'd confronted a mere two hours ago. His messy black hair seemed damp with sweat and his eyes were wide with fear. "What happened!? What did you do to him!?"
"He blew up the Gotham Museum, which was being used as a front for illegal experimentation. He then kidnapped the last living experiment, who is the girl in the second picture." I felt my anger deflate and had to fight a smile; knowing Danny, he probably took the girl in as his little sister. As a child, he was always rescuing hurt animals in an attempt to get our parents to keep one as a pet. "Robin…I don't want you working this case. You have an emotional attachment that will compromise you—"
"He's my brother!" I hissed, careful not to let anyone hear. "He's all alone and confused and thinks I hate him! I can't abandon him just because he's done some bad things!"
"He's a criminal."
"He's a kid! Just a kid who doesn't know anything and thinks the world's out to get him! I'm not going to support that view just because you want me too. I'm going to help him, not damn him."
Batman opened his mouth, but I cut him off. "Bruce…I've seen him. He blames himself for his adoptive parent's death. Hell, he could even blame himself for our birth parent's deaths. He's family. I can't give up on him because if the places were switched, I know he wouldn't give up on me."
He was silent for a moment before answering. "He's not allowed to leave Jump. And if he gets worse and you don't stop him, I'll make sure there will be a cell in Blackgate prison waiting for him." With that, Batman faded back into the shadows and was gone.
The last ever chapter… oh well. The remake of this is called "Brothers of Blood and Bond" and isn't out yet, but look for it!
