Chapter 9: Dance Practice

Jack spun Wendy across the dance floor, who was laughing her head off about something Jack just told her.

"Seriously! She really did that!" Jack exclaimed.

"Oh my," Wendy wiped some tears away. "She REALLY said that?"

"And I was dumb enough to accept her challenge. Of course, in the name of Thor, she won by eating 12 pies and me with only 10."

Wendy let out a snort and Madame Elamore shoot them a glare from far away.

By the pillar, Jack could see Patrick nursing his bare toes sitting on a wooden chair with Thorgil. His toes were two-times the normal size, (the color could rival his bright red hair) from the cold and the painful times Thorgil had 'accidentally' step on him. Thorgil just sat beside him casually drinking some cider.

"Thorgil and Patrick! If I don't see you two dancing on this dance floor this second you are going to get in serious trouble!" Lady Elamore barked.

"Yes, ma'am." They both chorused Patrick jammed his shoe back on and hurried onto the dance floor.

Thorgil smiling a little and Patrick whimpering. He could see Patrick's face scrunching up while Thorgil step on his toes, again. If Patrick's face could be a little less painful, Jack might have thought the situation was hilarious.

Jack smiled when he saw Thorgil quite enjoying herself pulling Patrick everywhere she go (even though the males are suppose to lead) bumping into the other groups and stepping on toes (mostly Patrick's). She caught sight of him staring at her and stuck her tongue out. Twisting her face into a sneer. Typical Thorgil.

At the middle of the dance floor, he could see Pattie and Brad dancing to the music. Pattie was blabbing something enthusiastically while Brad was smiling unsurely while twirling her around. Every once in a while he would flash a dazzling smile at the other girl around the room making them sigh and nearly melting into their partner's arms.

Even when Brad wasn't looking, the female apprentices are still staring longingly at Brad and Pattie spinning around the dance floor.

Suddenly, Thorgil had a devilish look on her face as she lead Patrick twisting and turning through the sea of people until she was just about five feet away from Pattie and Brad. She twirled herself and Patrick toward them, slicing through them like an knife through an apple cutting them from their rhythm.

"GAHH!" Brad screamed. Just about every girl in the room left their partners and ran to his aid. Pattie, instead, ran over to Patrick and Thorgil now in a tangled pile on the floor.

"Are you okay?" Pattie asked in concern.

"Yeah I'm fine," Patrick grumbled felling onto the floor once more after detangling him self.

"Me too," Thorgil said.

If Jack hadn't known Thorgil, he would have thought of this as an accident. But the look on her face says likewise. The bell rang and every body zoomed out of the room.

"LUNCH!" Thorgil cried, pulling Pattie out of the classroom with her.

Jack walked up to Patrick who seemed to be limping and helped him pick up his stuff.

"Thanks," Patrick said smiling sheepishly. "No problem. So, tell me about your dance with miss shield maiden?" Jack asked grinning.

His only grin widen after hearing Patrick groan at his question.

"It was AWFUL. I NEVER want to dance EVER again. And I'm so young though! Giving up on something at such a young age," Patrick said shooking his head.

"Come on, it's not that bad," Jack tried.

"You're right. The fact Thorgil bumped into Pattie and Brad on purpose makes it all better. Did you saw his face?! He looked so ashamed when he walked out of the classroom!"
