Danaya's POV:

There was smoke everywhere, and I could barely see a thing. Coughs began to erupt from my mouth as I tried to shout Alisa's and Pello's names. "Alisa! –cough- Pello! –cough cough-" I started off.

"I have Mish Alisa. Wee are by the window. Smash it, yesh?" Pello asked.

"Yes!" I shouted as I tried to feel around for anything while keeping my eyes closed. I felt my sword and grabbed it while I made my way upstairs and finally got to Pello and Alisa, who were in the process of smashing the window. When they got out, I jumped out after them as we landed in a small grass patch in the middle of two large rocks. Once my sight returned to normal and it wasn't blurry, I noticed how wrecked the airship was. *Oh boy…* Alisa and Pello found Iyana, Taehyr, and Sargent struggling to get out. Uncle Rhys and Xanxus were also coming out from another side of the airship.

"Is everyone okay?" Uncle Rhys asked as he went over to his two daughters. "What in Spira happened?" All of us grouped up and made sure everyone was all right.

Iyana tried to explain, "Some blindass fiend hit us right where the engines were! We were nearing Calm Lands too, so I tried to land the smoothest way possible."

"Smoothest?" Taehyr and Alisa grumbled. I rubbed the side of my head and almost stumbled over from the dizziness I was experiencing.

I smiled, "It's all right, you guys! Iyana, let's call over Uncle and he can-"

"NO! NOT THAT NUTJOB! HE'S GOING TO RUIN MY BABY!" Iyana rejected and crossed her arms into an X.

Uncle Rhys reasoned, "He's the closest mechanic we know. Last time I saw him, he was staying at Bevelle to help fix the malfunctioning machina underground." Iyana gave her father a look. Uncle Rhys rolled his eyes and called Uncle anyways. The rest of us kind of just stood around and waited until Uncle came to fix up the Cascade. I sat on top of a rock and motioned Alisa to sit next to me. I played with her hair still in its ponytail, braiding it to pass the time.

Moments later, Uncle came rushing over with his mechanic team as they started to work on the airship. "Take about one or two days! We see you later!" Uncle pushed us away so he can begin working.

"Wait, we won't have an airship for two days? What are we supposed to use to transport?" Taehyr asked. Xanxus put a hand on her shoulder.

"The old way, we walk, and maybe a hover since we're at the Calm Lands," Xanxus answered.

I heard Iyana yell, "Uncle! You better not mess up with my baby or I will kick your ass to the Farplane!" I shot Iyana a look, and she simply stuck her tongue out at me. Everyone looked at me for the signal to go.

I shrugged my shoulder and raised my eyebrows, "Calm Lands, it is. Let's go!" We all made our way into the always-festive Calm Lands. As usual, people were bustling around playing Lupine Dash or racing chocobos. A lot of money-hungry people were in line to exchange their credits. The Calm Lands was definitely busier than usual. In a split second, Alisa and Taehyr ran off together to the Chocobo Ranch, where Uncle Clasko was. Uncle Rhys and Sargent instantly went in line to check their credits and start playing. The rest of us split up, and I decided to just wander around. I smiled as my mind flashed back to the memory of Vidina and me on a chocobo when the group went to the Calm Lands three years ago.

It was slowly nearing dusk as everyone continued to enjoy themselves in the Calm Lands. I was occupying myself by playing a little bit of Sky Slots. At night, the wings of the wasps would glow brightly. It was amazing, actually. During the night time, the Calm Lands was lit by thousands of wasp wings and lanterns. When it neared late in the night, the amount of people would decrease. However, some people decide to camp out under the stars and sleep on the Calm Lands itself. Not many people do this due to the remaining few fiends (some even harmless) lurking around. Eventually, the group had gathered around near a campfire Uncle Rhys had made. We were located in between the entrance to Mt. Gagazet and Uncle Clasko's ranch, but more towards the ranch.

"Come on, guys! Let's go back to the airship and sleep near there, so I can keep an eye out on Uncle. Who knows what he's doing to my baby right now," Iyana suspected as she narrowed her eyes.

Taehyr laughed at her sister, "Don't worry. His crew was inspecting every inch of the airship when I stopped by earlier. They were fixing it up real well."

Right away, Alisa and I shouted, "Let's camp out here!" The two of us stared at each other, giggling at the coincidence. The guys nodded along, agreeing with the idea. Taehyr shrugged, showing her agreement. However, it took a little bit of begging to Iyana to sleep outside. After a while, she gave up and nodded her head.

"Sarge and I will go rent a hover to go to the airship and come back with some sleeping supplies, as well as some food to cook," Uncle Rhys explained as he dragged Sargent along. In the meantime, the rest of us sat around and talked. I glanced at Xanxus, who was sitting alone and staring at his pistols. A light bulb went off in my head as I smiled and tried to talk to Analise.

*Analise, you there?* I questioned.

*Yes, Danaya. What's up?*

*Wanna come out? Xanxus looks lonely* I knew Analise knew what I had in mind. She chuckled.

*All right, but not for such a long time. It's going to tire you out* Analise warned.

"It's okay!" I shouted out loud. Everyone stared at me because of my outburst, but I just simply stood up and lifted up my sword to the night sky. I whispered Analise's name and summoned her forward. A beam of light struck the ground and Analise appeared before it. Without a word, she walked towards us and patted my head. Iyana was going to speak to Analise, but I held Iyana back. She understood my intentions when she saw Analise walk over to Xanxus and sit by him. Xanxus looked at me and I flashed him a wink. He smiled and began talking to Analise. Feeling a bit lonely myself, I stalked off from the others and took out my communicator.

"Hello?" a sleepy voice spoke from the communicator. Vidina was lying shirtless on his bed, rubbing his eyes. I giggled.

"Did I wake you? Sorry," I muttered. At the sound of my voice, Vidina's eye shot open, and he sat up straight.

"What's up?" Vidina asked me. I laughed.

"Nothing much, we're all sleeping at the Calm Lands while we get the airship fixed because Iyana crashed it," I explained. Vidina's eyebrows furrowed.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah…I'm fine….I miss you,"

"I miss you too, Danaya."

"I have to go, I'll talk to you later," I said, feeling the tears build up in my eyes.

"Bye, stay safe!" Vidina called out as he kissed the communicator. I hung up and headed back to the others, where they were already setting up some tarps and cooking food over the campfire. I sat down near the campfire and gazed at the burning embers. My eyes focused only on the fire, and I was entranced by the way the flames danced around. This little campfire made me forget about all that has happened. This little campfire made me feel warm inside, like it was my parents telling me to move on for them. After Xanxus finished cooking, we all ate some warm soup and told stories until we fell asleep. I remember staring up at the night sky and lying down next to my sister.

I was woken up by someone shouting, "What the fuck?" I felt someone pushing me, trying to wake me up. I opened my eyes and blinked a few times to find Mirage and a man a few feet away preparing food at the crack of dawn. Mirage and the man were just silently cooking their food, and then they glanced at us. Everyone else was instantly alert, grabbing their weapons. When I reached to grab mine, Uncle Rhys stopped me.

"Wait," Uncle Rhys commanded. Everyone slowly put down their defensive stance, and Mirage and the man walked over to us. The man was very tall and had very dark, tanned skin. He looked pretty young, but a little older than Xanxus. He had snow-white short hair and looked well-built. This man was wearing a navy blue sleeveless hoodie with tight maroon pants. His tan combat boots were intimidating, as well as his twin longswords and greatsword strapped to his back. He was staring me down, and it made me feel uncomfortable. Noticing it, Xanxus placed me behind him. However, I had moved back in front of Xanxus, letting him know I was okay. Mirage noticed everyone staring at the new companion she had.

"I see you've taken interest in my bodyguard. His name is Makero. I guess your mother, if she were me, would have called him a guardian of some sort. Just like your father," Mirage explained. I flinched, the mention of my parents bringing me close to home. Sargent moved to strike Mirage, but the bodyguard Makero swiftly moved in front of Mirage and blocked the strike. He pushed Sargent back, making Sargent skid across the land and almost knock into Taehyr. Instead of Uncle Rhys speaking out, I decided to talk.

I sneered, "Why the hell are you here? What do you want from us?" There was so much malice in my voice that nobody could tell it was me speaking. Mirage didn't seem affected by my tone of voice as she walked towards me and placed a hand on my shoulder. I stiffened up, and I could see Uncle Rhys drawing his sword forward. She moved her head in towards my ear.

Mirage whispered, "The question is, what do you want from us?" She pulled back and stepped away from us. Her voice ran shivers down my back as I stared at her frighteningly, wondering what she meant. Sargent growled, becoming impatient to what was going to happen next.

"Enough of this crap, both of you, whoever the hell you guys are, don't belong here!" Sargent shouted as he aimed straight for Mirage.

"Sargent!" Iyana called out, but it was too late. Before Sargent could do anything, Mirage placed her hand forward and held her palm out. We heard a ring, and Sargent was lifted into the air. Sargent was being choked, but Mirage wasn't physically touching him. Sargent was kicking his feet in the air, trying to get out of Mirage's hold. "Stop!" Iyana cried out. With a flick of her wrist, Mirage released her hold on Sargent and made him fall to the ground. Iyana and Taehyr ran over to Sargent while the rest of us charged towards Makero and Mirage. They gave us the signal to fight, so we took out our weapons and fought. Alisa and I charged towards Mirage, while Uncle Rhys, Taehyr, and Xanxus took on Makero. Iyana stayed with Sargent, making sure he was all right.

Alisa drew her sword and swung it at Mirage, who dodged the incoming attack. While Mirage dodged the attack, I cast Firaga on her. She didn't seem fazed by the attacks we dealt. Alisa ran towards Mirage head-on with her sword while I ran around from the back and aimed at Mirage's back side. Alisa struck Mirage while I jumped up and gathered energy in my sword. "Energy Rain!" I shouted and threw down the energy balls building up in my sword. Alisa had backed away as I prepared my sword. The lights blinded me as I dropped down and shielded my eyes. When I opened them, Mirage was standing in the same place, untouched. I bit my lip and gave Alisa a stare. She nodded and ran for Mirage straight again.

I took a quick glance at the others, seeing them struggle against Makero. Taehyr was lying on the ground trying to recover, while Uncle Rhys and Xanxus attacked from different angles. Mirage sighed, "How persistent you all are. Enough of this. Makero!" In a flash, I heard the wind whistle and felt quick movement. All of us were on the ground in pain. Uncle Rhys was knocked out on the ground, Sargent and Xanxus had multiple cuts and bruises, Iyana had a large gash on her right arm, Taehyr had two gashes on both of her legs, and Alisa was heavily bruised. I, on the other hand, got slashed on my stomach. While holding my stomach, I lifted my head up and groaned. My eyes were slowly closing, so I struggled to keep them open.

"U-uncle Rhys…" I whispered. Makero was walking towards Uncle Rhys, Mirage following him. *Danaya…why didn't you summon me?* Analise scolded. *What are they going to do to him?* I thought, panicking on the inside. "UNCLE RHYS!" I shouted, "DON'T! PLEASE!" Hearing their dad's name, Taehyr's and Iyana's heads shot up. I watched as Mirage waved her hand in the air, thus creating a portal. Makero hoisted Uncle Rhys up and over.

"DAD! NO!" Taehyr shrieked. Alisa crawled over to her and tried to hold Taehyr back. Alisa began to heal Taehyr's injuries, also going over to me.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HIM? LET HIM GO!" Iyana demanded, trying to scramble up and get to her father. I tried to get up, but the slash on my stomach burned so much, that I couldn't bear the pain. I didn't have enough time to grab a Potion as Makero jumped into the portal with Uncle Rhys over his shoulders. "DAD!" Iyana cried out, the agonizing pain of her father being taken away overpowering the actual pain of her injuries. Sargent stumbled over and embraced her.

"DADDY!" Taehyr called out like a little girl. "DADDY!" Tears were streaming down her cheeks. None of us noticed Xanxus rushing towards Mirage, his guns pointed to her chest.

"Where the hell did you take Rhys? Bring him back," Xanxus ordered. Mirage smirked, not fazed by the guns at all.

Mirage answered, "Simple. He doesn't live up to what an Elemental Guardian is supposed to be. I can understand Alisa because she's new at all of this. However, Rhys, what he has done is unacceptable. Now, move aside." Mirage's eyes glowed white, and Xanxus was thrown back, almost landing into Sargent.

"Give him back!" I shouted, struggling to get up. I looked up at Mirage with fierce eyes, showing her I wanted Uncle Rhys back. I glanced at Iyana and Taehyr, tears rushing down both of their faces. Mirage gave me a small, fake smile and shook her head.

Mirage replied, "You'll never be able to understand." She stepped into her portal, it closing after she went in. And just like that, Uncle Rhys was out of her hands.

"DAD!" Iyana and Taehyr called out, their weeps coming out like when Alisa and I had lost our parents. I cried, too, knowing that we wouldn't be getting Uncle Rhys back anytime soon. *What're they going to do to him?* Analise asked the dreaded question. I didn't answer her, as we both had no idea what was going to happen.
