Chapter 12

We reached the cave entrance exactly six hours after I had left it.

"Nathan!" I yelled as I skidded to a halt outside the cave entrance, praying that th… that he would answer me. "Elrohir, Nathan! Can you hear me?"

"Anna?" I heard Nathan's voice answer me.

"Nathan, thank God you are alright. How are the others?" I asked my heart racing with joy.

"I pulled out a flashlight and Elladan and Legolas are still out of it, Elrohir was awake when I first woke up but he too fell unconscious a little while ago."

"How long ago did Elrohir fall back unconscious?" I asked.

"About a hour ago… What is the noise?" he asked, hearing the Mirkwood guards pulling stones away.

"Just a few of the Mirkwood guards, who are helping me rescue you." I answered him.

"You went all the way to Mirkwood to get help? Elladan said it would take another day at least!"

"I flew" I answered, just to mess with him.

"What?"

"It is really easy to put together a bike if you know how…"

"Do you know how?"

"Yes as a matter of fact I do."

"So you built yourself a bike to get to Mirkwood?"

"Yes, yes I did."

"Where did you get the parts to make a bicycle?"

"Where did you get a flashlight?"

"Oh right…" Nathan said, his voice trailing off as the last of the stones were rolled away and I was there looking him over to see if he was okay.

"You aren't hurt are you?" I asked.

"No Anna, I am fine. They didn't harm me at all."

We then watched as the two guards checked Legolas, Elladan and Elrohir out and then sat them on three horses they had brought while Nathan and I rode on the last horse.

"What did you do with the bicycle?" Nathan asked me as we rode after the Mirkwood scouts.

"I disassembled it before entering Mirkwood, I probably walked for a mile and a half."

"Okay, I just wanted to make sure that we wouldn't have to answer a bunch a questions if they found it."

I smiled at him over my shoulder, "Of course Nathan, of course."

"Just what do you mean by that?" he asked indignantly.

I laughed, "I'm just messing with you, Nathan. Don't worry."

We rode the rest of the way to Mirkwood in silence, admiring the scenic view. When we arrived at the palace we were greeted by the palace medics who took the twins and Legolas into the healing wing. Nathan and I were taken by two guards to see the king of Mirkwood, Thranduil.

"Where are you taking us?" I asked the guards that were escorting us.

"To see King Thranduil." The guard replied

My heart leapt, partially out of excitement and partially out of fear, we were finally going to see Thranduil, king of Mirkwood.
