Chapter 28
Pretty Little Lovers Untamed
Chapter 28
Emily got up and left before any of the others. She needed time and space to think and waking up in Hanna's arms made her incredibly weak. And so she scooted out of the blonde's tired embrace and quietly got her things together. It wasn't even nine in the morning yet but Emily was awake. She crept downstairs and said a quick goodbye to Ms. Marin, before carrying her things to her car. She had given Aria a ride, but she was sure one of the other's would make sure she got home so she didn't worry about it.
Mrs. Fields was standing in the kitchen pouring a big cup of coffee when Emily came inside.
"Goodmorning Hun," she said, "I didn't expect you home so early. How was the sleepover?"
The brunette teenager shrugged. "It was alright. We watched some movies and then went to bed. Everyone was exhausted." Emily had especially been exhausted, though the sleep had done nothing to alleviate that. She knew that she wouldn't get any proper rest until she was able to make a decision regarding Hanna and Alison. But at the moment, she had no idea what she would do. Laying with Hanna the night before had been amazing, but it wasn't that easy. It never was that easy. Not when Alison was involved.
"Well, there's plenty of coffee in the pot. And donuts on the dry-bar. If you want me to cook you up some eggs then I could do that too, of course."
"It's okay," Emily gave her mother a tired smiled. "I'll have a donut or two and some coffee in a bit. I'm just gonna head up and shower and then get dressed. I feel a little groggy still and I hope the water can wake me up."
Her mother nodded at her and sipped her coffee. "Sounds like a good plan, Dear. Do you have plans with the girls today?"
"No. I don't think so. I think I'll use today for "me time"."
"Sounds lovely."
Emily took the stairs slowly and then dropped her things on the bed. It was when she was yawning, her hand over her mouth, that she noticed the piece of paper laying casually on her pillow and her heart started to race. Her hands shook as she reached for the paper. She knew who it was from and what it would say and she honestly wasn't ready. But she took a deep breath and opened it anyway.
Em,
You've had your fun. Or should I say, you've had Hanna. But it's time to stop with the games and the playing. Time's up. Meet me at the kissing rock at 8 for your decision. Me or her. Make your choice.
See you then,
Ali
Emily let out the breath she'd been holding onto and listened to it hiss into the empty room. She felt like sleeping for days, but she knew that that would solve absolutely nothing. She had to make her choice as Ali had said. She had to decide which girl she wanted more. Or which girl she wanted at all. She had to decide if losing one forever was worth having a chance with the other one. And honestly she didn't know how to make such a decision.
The sat down on her bed and tried to calm down. She felt like she was spiraling and since she was unable to let go of one thing to hold onto the other, she almost felt as if she was being torn in two pieces. She leaned back on her arms and stared straight ahead, trying to get control of herself. But it was a bad idea. Instantly, her gaze focused on the pictures of herself with Hanna that she had hanging on the wall. And the countless trinkets and things that Hanna had bought her or left at her house. Her eyes clouded with tears and Emily sniffled uncontrollable until the dam broke and tears ran down her cheeks and dripped from her chin. She imagined picking Alison and having to get rid of all of those things. It made her feel like her world was ending.
