Good lord! it's been over 2 years since I had wrote this.

Korra turned to the voice and saw her friend swimming towards her. Her smile widened. For the past few days she had been so worried. Korra greeted her with a tight hug.

"Oh Jinora, I had been worried sick. Are you alright?"

"I am now, if you stop crushing me," the younger girl laughed. Korra released her apologetically, and began checking her.

"You're not hurt are you?" Korra asked holding the girls' arms. "I know they can be-"

"I did run into some, but I'm fine," She couldn't contain her excitement, "And there's great news too! I-"

Korra was deaf to her excitement because she felt relieved that her friend was okay, but then guilt came over her.

"Jinora," she said, holding her hands and gazing into her brown eyes, "I'm very, truly sorry that this had happened to you because of me. I told you those stories that had made you fall into the wrong hands. Your father is going to kill-"

"Korra, I'm fine," Jinora stressed. "And, don't worry my dad. After all, he hasn't been above like you and me. What does he know,"

Korra raised her eyebrows, " He will because I had endangered one of the last few Airbenders."

"But I'm alright, and I'm back," the girl reassured.

Korra let out a sigh, and smiled. "How was it up there? Apart from being kidnapped and all?"

Jinora squeezed her friends' hands. "Korra, I met Mako,"

Korra's heart stopped.

"W-w-wait. Mako?" she stuttered. She felt warmth rushed into her. "R-really?"

Jinora nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! And he and his brother were the ones who rescued me,"

"But how do you know it's actually him from what I had told you?" Korra didn't want to get her hopes up. "He was so young, and wears a red scarf and-"

"Has weird eyebrows," Jinora finished, grinning, "I know. He still has it,"

Her heart felt like it would burst with joy and happiness. She was beaming from ear to ear. "I can't believe he still has those eyebrows,"

Jinora laughed. "His reaction was funny when I had mentioned it,"

"Tell me more about him. What is he up to now?"

Jinora told her about Mako's heroic deeds on trying to save their kind. She told him how Mako rescued her by giving the highest bid.

"He changed because of you,"

Korra blushed, "Well, he saved my life,"

"You should see him,"

"I would love to if the White Lotus and your dad wouldn't keep me below this….dark hole for years,"

"He doesn't understand us the way he understands the world. And I've seen it. I can vouch for you. Korra, look around you. This grotto is full of your treasures you and I have found and collected- learning and studying humans by their items."

Korra gazed around her ghetto, filled with shiny and rich items. It was true. Ever since she had met Mako, she couldn't stop thinking about him, nor the humans. She had always wondered if there are any other humans who had a pure heart like Mako.

But…

It was pointless.

"The world has changed, Jin," The world had grew more cruel and evil as she got older. "Even so…" she swam to her nearest treasure- an ornament of two people dancing together and touched it, "I still want to know the world out there."

She glanced around her ghetto again. Some sparkled. " I don't see how a world could make such wonderful things….could be bad,"

Look at this stuff, isn't it neat?

Wouldn't you think my collections complete?

Wouldn't you think I'm a girl?

A girl who has, everything?

Korra reached out for a box of jewellery. At one point, she thought she had gone mad collecting of items of humans who had tried to kill her and her people.

Look at this trove,

Treasures untold

How many wonders can one caravan hold

Looking around here

You think

"Sure, she's got everything,"

It wasn't the violence and evil that prevented her from pursuing them. No, it was their knowledge she was interested in. The more she studied, the more she tries to unveil their secrets and answers that had tormented her people for hundreds of years. Did they have any goodness in them before.

But most of all, lost in her discoveries, she wants to go on land again.

I wanna be

where the people are

Perhaps if she were to be among them, she would find answers and understanding what and why humans and mermaids don't live in harmony anymore. As a princess and Avatar, she had to somehow bring harmony into the world.

I wanna see

Wanna see 'em dancing

Walking around on those..

What do you call it?

Oh, Feet.

Eventhough it was just a few minutes, she still remembered the thrill on standing on her two feet. Those wobbly legs that had carried her whole body, and felt the surface underneath her toes. Those stories in those books she had found.. seeing characters walking, running, jumping and dancing.. she wants to do those.

Up where they walk,

Up where they run

Up where they stay all day in the sun

Wandering free

Wish I could be

Part of That World.

Yeah, somewhere she could run free from this captivity. She doesn't know which is worse- living on the land of freedom but humans would hunt her down everyday, or be a prisoner in her own safe world. She would gladly take the first option, but-

"We could explore the world together," Jinora said, smiling. "You and me. We have our legs, no one would notice-,"

Korra's heart sank. "Well, that's the problem,"

The younger girls' smile faltered, "W-what do you mean?" she asked, worrying for the worst.

What would I give,

If I could live out of these waters?

What would I pay

To spend the day warm on the sand?

Korra sighed, and spilled her darkest secret, "After I returned back to the waters, the elders had decided," she glanced at her blue fin, "to remove my ability to change back into a human,"

Out of the sea

Jinora's eyes widened in horror, "No, that can't be,"

Korra looked at her friend with sad eyes. "It's true. I saw them cast a spell on my fin to make it.. permanent,"

Wish I could be

"That's impossible," Jinora trembled, "It goes against our sacred laws…,"

"To keep me safe, they insisted,"

Jinora looked down, and whispered, "In ancient times, mermaids always had a choice,"

"Yeah, " Korra still looked down at her blue fin. She wondered if it were a blessing or a curse. She let out a bitter laugh, "And how would that help me master the four elements? I have to fulfill this prophecy the world depends on, when they won't let me."

"And...," her voice had gone soft, and she felt her cheeks become warm "I wouldn't mind seeing that weird eyebrow kid again,"

Part of your world

"Korra, you do want to see Mako again, right?" Jinora asked.

"Of course I would," the Avatar moped "But it's impossible. I can't go on land..ever again,"

Jinora smiled. "Well, what if he was in the waters instead?"

"What?" This caught Korra's attention. And puzzlement. Her lamentations had immediately vanished "How-?"

"Bolin told me that they are throwing him a birthday party. And they will be celebrating somewhere on the sea. Tonight,"

Korra began to smile. "Why didn't you tell me any sooner?"

Jinora was too excited to answer her question. "We can go see humans on the sea. Good humans who side with Mako and Bolin. We should go now,"

"Well, what are you waiting for? Lead the way,"

Together, the girls swam out of the cove, towards the moonlight.

I know I missed some lyrics, but it was too long, and some didn't fit!

HI! i'm back. During the summer, I work out or swim. Everytime I swam, I imagine myself being a mermaid, and it made me think of this story, and wondered how I could finish this. I still have the storyline and chapter outlines written in my Iphone!

I'm so sorry I haven't written in a long time. I lost interest along the way, and had to concentrate on my studies in college. Last year was hard, and I did want to write, but homework and papers got in the way. Lots of excuses….

Lack of motivation and the lost of inspiration.

Another confession is that one of the guest reviews had made me stop continuing this piece because he/she was so impatient and was very, very rude. That dropped my motivation to zero.

I can assume you all may know what's going to happen in the next chapter *wink*

But there's a twist.

I can't promise you when exactly the next chapter will be up, but some motivation would help with your encouragement :) Also, would you like me to continue, or, has your interest in this story already died long ago?

Let me know, and I promise I won't have hard feelings. I ned to know if this story is worth continuing. Thanks!
