Yukio clenched his fists as Logan stepped out through the gaping hole in the wall and disappeared down the hall. The idiot was going to get himself killed.

"Class dismissed," he declared, quickly gathering his things.

"Whoa, Yukio, you're not going after him alone, are you?"

"Mephisto left him in my charge."

"Well you're not going alone!" Rin barked, snatching up his own bag and standing beside his brother, tail twitching irritably.

"No, Rin. It's too dangerous. Stay here with the other exwires."

"We're not staying behind either! Like you said, you need a whole team of exorcists to go into Aokigahara," Bon said, crossing his arms.

"Unfortunately, none of you are exorcists. I'll contact a team in the Minamitsuru District en route. Sorry for the sudden dismissal, but I need to go." Without another word, Yukio ran off after Logan.

"This is bullshit," Bon muttered, causing Izumo to roll her eyes.

"No, you're the one full of bullshit. Like a bunch of exwires like us could handle the Suicide Forest. It's foolish to even think that."

Konekomaru nervously twiddled his thumbs, "Still, I'm nervous about Okumura-san going alone with that man."

Rin, who had been surprisingly quiet up to this point, tightened his fists with a grunt, "I don't care what that Four-Eyes says. I'm going too."

"Rin, it's not safe!" Shiemi warned tentatively.

"I don't care! Yukio is always trying to do things on his own, he's too proud to admit he needs help."

"He has a point, though - he is a full fledged exorcist," Shima offered with a shrug.

"Well, if he wants to go alone - whatever. I'm more interested in that guy," Rin huffed.

"Mephisto called him Wolverine..."

"He was a half demon, like me. I'm not going to let him slip away without a fight!" Without waiting for anyone else, Rin bolted after his brother.

Bon sighed, "Here we go again."

Down the hall, Yukio was shifting through his keys.

"And you say one of these will open a door to a shrine on Mt. Fuji?"

"An Asama Shrine dedicated to Mt. Fuji. It's not on the mountain, but it's close enough."

"I thought I had seen it all," Logan muttered in amazement. The world of mutants was strange enough, but apparently that was only the beginning. Here was a whole new world of demons and magic far more bizarre than the one he was familiar with. He was pulled out of his thought by the sudden thud of footsteps pounding down the hallway. As Yukio turned the key in the door, Logan turned to see the mutant kid - Rin - speeding towards them at inhuman speeds.

"Waaaait!" He cried, leaping towards them just as Yukio opened the door. Behind him, the exwire class was struggling to keep up.

Logan braced himself as Rin tackled him through the doorway, both of their bodies slamming onto a wooden floor with a loud bang. Logan heard the sound of other bodies banging into the room, followed by uncomfortable grunts and cries of pain. He groaned and pushed Rin off him, rubbing the back of his head and sitting up.

To his disbelief, Yukio's magic key had worked. They were inside the shrine - outside the window he could see miles of verdant green forest and in the distant the lonely peak of Mt. Fuji.

"Whoa, it really worked," he breathed.

"Damn it, Rin! I told you to stay behind!" Yukio admonished, brushing his long coat off as he got to his feet.

"Didn't feel like it," Rin retorted, completely ignoring the murderous vibes emanating from his brother.

"Suguro-san, Kamiki-san...everyone..." Yukio did a quick survey of the crowd that had tumbled through the door after him. Everyone except Takara had arrived at the shrine.

"Where are we?" Shiemi asked, holding her head.

"Kawaguchi Asama Shrine. In other words, where you will stay while I contact the other exorcists."

"Where is everyone?" Izumo asked, suddenly quieting the argument that had been brewing between the two brothers.

"This place is not very busy, especially during this time of year," Yukio answered, but there was a hint of wariness in his voice.

"But where's the priest, at least?"

Yukio didn't answer, instead he was trying to get a signal on his phone, but to no avail.

"Change of plans. We'll go into town and try to contact them from there. But we are not going into that forest without backup."

Konekomaru raised his hand, "Excuse me, Okumura-sensai. But I think Logan-san left." Sure enough, everyone whipped around, looking for the strange man, but he had vanished.

"Damn! He must be headed for the forest," Yukio struggled to keep his composure. This situation was getting worse by the minute. Why had Mephisto left him in charge? Why hadn't he chosen some other exorcist...unless he had some grand scheme in mind. He had seemed to know more about Logan's situation than he was letting on.

His eyes slid over to Rin, who was peering out into the forest intently, tail flicking back and forth. The Koma sword was slung on his back, as it always was. Had Mephisto intentionally chosen Yukio in order to drag Rin into this? Whatever Mephisto had in mind, Yukio wasn't going to have any part of it. He was going to get Rin and the other exwires safely into town and contact the nearby exorcists, then start the expedition into the forest. He wasn't going to risk anyone's life now to go looking for Logan.

Wherever he was, the clawed man was on his own for now.
