Karen: I'M SO SORRY THAT THIS HAS TAKEN SO LONG BUT A LOT OF THOUGHT HAS GONE INTO IT BECAUSE SOME THINGS WILL NEED TO TIE IN TO THE THIRD AND FINAL STORY!
Sarah: ... Calm down, we always tell you to do things at your own pace
Karen: I do! I've just been stressed with college, lots of drawing, lots of gaming that I shouldn't be doing, I should be focusing, working on two other fanfics, one of which is new... GAH!
Cast: CALM DOWN!
Zac: Whilst she's stressing out, just a final word that we hope you've enjoyed this fanfic and we hope you look forward for the last part of this Trilogy, In Trouble Over The Trident. On another final note, Karen doesn't own Mako Mermaids or the characters within it but she does own her extensive list of OC's that appear
Karen: And with that said, here's the Bonus Chapter of how life has been for our friends since the last Chapter!
Chapter 11: Bonus
Three days had passed by quickly for everyone, and they soon found themselves at the Airport once more saying their goodbyes to Nixie and Cam once more. Compared to the first time, everyone seemed happier. It felt a little weird because Zac had seen them off at Mako, with his new ears and white left eye, he didn't really want to go out anywhere. Ivan also decided that he was going to go back too, after suddenly leaving without warning to his wife.
"Well, it's not really goodbye is it?" Sirena asked.
"Nope. Still gonna come over every two Sundays and see you all," Nixie replied, giving her friend a long hug. Afterwards, she moved onto Lyla.
The two stood silently in front of each other, before breaking out into smiles and hugs.
"You'd better keep that promise to them, or I'm gonna hold it over you for a long time," Lyla warned.
"I'll try my best," Nixie laughed as she let go of Lyla. "If for some reason I can't make it, I'll call Rita."
Lyla smiled before giving Sirena a comforting hug, David joining in. She knew Sirena was still going to miss Nixie a lot, even if she was still coming every 2 weeks.
"Oh that reminds me, David," she began as she turned around. "Take good care of Sirena for me. You do anything to hurt or upset her and I'll hurt you."
David gave her a weak smile back and nodded. "Don't worry, she'll be fine," he replied as he took Sirena in for yet another hug.
"We've not exactly been big buddies but I'll miss you David," Cam said as he held his hand out, David shaking it firmly in return.
"I'll miss you too Cam. I mean, none of us will see you for again for a very long time," David replied.
Nixie moved down the line to Evie and gave her a brief hug. "We've not been the best of friends either but for some reason I will miss you Evie."
"Thank you Nixie," Evie replied, feeling rather happy on the inside. Boy was she glad that she never made an enemy of Nixie.
"You take care of yourself Nixie," Isis spoke up from behind Evie.
"I'll be fine. I've got Cam after all. You guys take care of yourself going home too," Nixie replied, giving Rita, Tetrus, Aria, Felicity, Ben, Isis and Tanya brief hugs too. Cam was just following down the line with hand shakes and occasional hugs.
Nixie stopped when she got to Bill and Nick. "I don't really know what to say except thanks for all your help with the recent events."
Both men held their hands out for Nixie to shake, Nixie giving them a shake in return. "You don't have to thanks us at all Nixie," Bill replied.
"Just don't go getting into any other trouble like this again," Nick joked.
"All passenger boarding flight A34J927 to California, please head to gate 31 for immediate boarding."
"Well that's deja-vu all over again," Cam pointed out as he grabbed his bags. "Looks like we're off now."
Ivan and Nixie grabbed their bags too and followed Cam. As she was walking, Nixie turned around and gave a last wave to her friends, everyone waving back to her.
- Now on board the flight -
They were about half-way there, and Ivan decided he was finally going to tell his wife the truth.
"Nixie, Cam, I need you both to understand something. When we land and get back to our new home, you two and me, are going to tell Lillianna the truth."
"Huh? The truth?" Cam asked a little confused.
"I mean telling her about what happened, why we left, and what we are," Ivan replied, his tone of voice being serious.
"You really think it'll be wise to tell mum that you're over 1,000 years old and that Nixie's a fish-chick?" Cam asked whispering to him.
Nixie immediately gave him a hard punch to the shoulder, but then smiled at him as he rubbed it. "What did I say about calling me that?"
"What else did you expect me to say, I can't say the m-word on a plane," Cam replied.
"You were whispering, would it have mattered?" Nixie argued.
"Both of you stop it!" Ivan ordered, trying to keep his voice down. "We're telling Lillianna exactly what Cam said, and that's final. We can't keep lying to her forever."
- After landing and getting back to their new home -
After placing the bags in the lounge, Lillianna sat down, Ivan and Nixie ready to tell her the truth.
"You might not believe it at first Lilly, but the reason we left, is- is because-" Ivan couldn't find it in him to finish his sentence, so Nixie stepped in for him with all the bluntness she could give.
"Ivan's 1,066 years old after having a strange crystal implanted into his heart and he'll never age past about 30. He was part of a organisation called the IMH who hunted down mermaids. I'm a mermaid and once some of my friends were exposed to the entire of Australia, he rebelled and helped us in killing two men who were trying to destroy the world using an old-ancient evil spirit known as Eradia. The reason I left is because of finding a place full of dead mermaids, and Ivan left because he came to try and help us out obviously. There, that's the truth."
Lillianna, Cam and Ivan stood their mouths wide open at Nixie.
"What? Ivan said to tell the truth and there it is," Nixie said, eventually taking residence on a nearby sofa next to Cam.
"Ivan," Lillianna eventually spoke. "It took you long enough to come out with the truth."
"Huh?" You- you knew all along!?" Ivan asked in disbelief and shock.
Lillianna let out a small laugh and told her husband everything. "Don't think I've never seen that tattoo on your back before. I know who they are because I used to go out with one as a teen, but then he died. As for you Nixie, you should really be more careful when taking a bath."
Nixie began blushing, not realising she forgot to close the door one time. "Sorry."
"No need to apologise. I was genuinely wondering how long it would take for the two of you to fess up. I see Cam clearly knew about it, or else he would look more shocked than that," Lillianna pointed out.
Ivan suddenly pulled Lillianna off of her chair and into a hug with her. "Thank you Lilly. Thank you for understanding and taking that so well.
"It's fine," she replied as she hugged back. "It's perfectly fine."
Cam reached round and pulled Nixie into a cuddle with her.
"See, isn't it nice to not have to keep secrets in the family?" Cam asked her.
"Yeah, it's just about perfect."
- At the HMC -
Even though Cam and Nixie were now gone, everyone, including Zac, turned up to see Aquata be named the new leader of the HMC.
"By the power given to us by our Goddess Aquarius, Aquata is now named the new leader of the HMC. May she forever help us in our victories that help keep our kind safe." As she stood their, basking in the glory of all the claps and cheers, and long white fluffy cloak was clasped together and left to trail onto the floor.
Once the cheering had stopped, Aquata spoke up. "I'd just like to thank all of you here for putting me in command and of course for putting Maya as second-in-command. I'm sure Seiger would have wanted us all to keep going after his death, and that's what we plan to do. We'll keep working hard to keep our kind safe from the evils that would try to harm and expose us."
Another roar of cheers broke out, Aquata quickly silencing them. "Before we finish though, I'd like to award a few special medals to Aria, Felicity, Isis and Tanya. We won't be seeing you again for a long time, but we thank you for all the work you've done for us over the recent events. You'll always be welcomed back as members of the HMC."
The four of them walked up front to claim their medals for Aquata, and then went back to their friends.
"I'm not done though. I've got a few more to give out. You all know of the honour medals that enhance a mermaids powers, only given to the finest and strongest of us. I'd like to award them to Sirena, Lyla and David, and one for Nixie when you next see her."
Everyone within the HMC gave out massive cheers to the three as they collected their medals that were hung on short coral necklaces.
"Still not done though. There is one final medal, one that is higher than an honour medal. You know, the prestigious HMC Cross that you can only earn for going through amazing feats and intense challenges." The HMC Cross is like the medal of honour, but harder to get and has stronger enhancements.
Before she could even finish, the crowd parted to the sides, leaving a walkway for Zac.
"Zac Blakely, for defeating Rick and Lucien, saving the world and surviving the odds of living once more, I Aquata, third of my name and 79th leader of the HMC, present you with the HMC Cross."
The crowd let out even larger cheers than before as Zac walked up to Aquata. He stopped when he got right in front of her.
"You know, I don't think I'll ever get used to being this up close to you," Aquata joked as she placed the golden coral necklace around his neck.
Zac just smiled at her, knowing exactly what she meant. Aquata was never quite used to merman, and being close to Zac was a strange feeling for her.
- Later on that evening, down at the beach -
The time had finally come for Aria, Felicity, Ben, Isis and Tanya to leave for their respective homes and new destinations. Because it was quite late, only Zac, Evie, David and Sirena were there to see them off. Lyla and Tetrus hadn't been seen ever since they left the IMH.
"I know it's only been under a month, but it's been a pleasure meeting you all," Isis said as she went around giving everyone hugs goodbye.
"It's been a pleasure fighting with you all too," Isis said as she held her hand out to Zac. "We should meet up in the future and fight each other, I'm rather intrigued to see if I can beat this Overdrive of yours."
Zac shook her hand, replying, "I'll be waiting for that day then, for a very long time."
After Sarah and Felicity had finished their hugs, that just left Ben.
"I know I've only been back in this world for four days, and I know that I haven't gotten to know you all much, but I feel like I'm going to miss you the most Zac. Without you, I might not have been brought back to life."
Zac suddenly lowered his head, which worried Ben.
"Listen I'm sorry! I didn't mean to bring up your grandad and all that- and- oh god, I feel like I'm making worse!" Ben ranted, stressing out.
Zac patted him on the head to shut him up. "It's fine Ben. Just don't do what I did and waste your life, you'll lose those important if you do. So take good care of Sarah and Felicity for us."
Ben stood there shocked, his open mouth turning into a huge smile. "I will!"
With those final words, the five of them dove into the Ocean. They all shot up and turned around to give one more wave goodbye to their friends. Zac stopped for a moment to stare directly at Ben. Entering the Ocean, had changed him. His ears had changed, including diamondisation, and whereas Zac's left eye was that incredible light blue shade, it was the same for Ben except it was his right eye.
Catching Ben's attention, he pointed to his own ears, Ben instinctively touching his own to find out they were exactly like's Zac's own. "For those who go through death and come out the other side alive," Ben whispered to himself.
"Is everything okay?" Sarah asked as she noticed his odd staring. Turning to look at him, here eyes widened when she saw his ears. "Diamondisation." She launched into a hug with him, dragging him under the waves. Felicity rolled her eyes and began heading off herself, giving one last wave before she disappeared into the distance, Tanya and Isis soon following.
"So, has anyone actually seen Lyla?" Sirena spoke up.
"She wasn't with us for the medal ceremony either," Evie realised. "Did you see her this morning before it happened?"
"No," Sirena replied. "I didn't realise it at the time."
After thinking on it for a while, Zac thought he might have just worked it out. "Didn't she say that her and Tetrus were going to Italy together?"
Realisation hit everyone. "Does this mean she's already left? If so, why wouldn't she say goodbye?" Sirena asked herself. Lyla had been such a good friend to her, eventually, and for her to just leave without saying anything...
"Whatever reason she left suddenly for, we can only hope she'll be okay," Evie said, looking out over the Ocean as the moonlight danced on the waves.
- Very early in the morning of this day -
"Lyla and Tetrus stood on the shore line hand in hand. They'd both gotten up very early for one reason.
"Are you sure you want to just leave like this?" Tetrus asked rather concerned. Their plan was to leave around the same time that everyone else was going to later on.
"I'm sure. I don't want to say goodbye to them, it'll be too painful. Saying goodbye to Zac once was hard enough, and saying goodbye to him and my, friends, once more is just too hard," she explained, looking away from him.
He giggled slightly. "I never pictured you as the kind of person who couldn't say goodbye. You seemed fine at the Airport saying goodbye to Nixie."
"Yeah well that's because I'd already done it once before! It wasn't that difficult." She took a deep breath and looked back up at him. "Also, I would feel regretful if I saw their faces, knowing that they wouldn't see me again for a very long time. I just want to leave without any regrets, and this is the best way possible."
"I see, that's okay, I understand," Tetrus replied as he brought her into a hug. "If that's what you want, then we'll leave now." Letting go of the hug, they both held hands as they ran into the Ocean, most likely never to be seen again.
Lyla thought that she'd gone completely unnoticed by all of her friends. But she failed. Rita had woken up after hearing the front door open and close, and went to check on the girls. She discovered that Lyla wasn't there, and instead of trying to find her on ground, she headed up to her roof to see if she could spot her.
Looking out to the shores, she was Lyla hand in hand with Tetrus, the man she'd now fallen in love with, and was moving to Italy with. When she saw them dive in, it was then clear that Lyla wasn't planning on saying goodbye like she'd first intended to.
"Great," Rita said sighing. "One less person in my life."
"But you've gained one more," a voice replied. Turning around, Rita saw the last person she though she'd ever see.
"Calypso? Is that, really you?" Rita asked in shock. Calypso had been her greatest friend before she was outcast of her pod, one she used to train with and also steal vital information with. She didn't get those files on mermen powers without help. She had luscious long chocolate coloured hair than ran down almost towards her knees, even with several braids in her hair. Her eyes were pretty much the same colour as her hair. She was wearing a white vest top, blue skirt, and white sandals.
"Been a long time hasn't it?" She asked back, smiling. Rita ran up to her and gave her a long and deep hug.
"How long have you had legs?" Rita asked, that being the only thing she could think about.
"Let's see... about three weeks. I've been searching for you. I'd heard news from some sea friends that they'd seen you around, so I headed to land to find you."
As nice as the reunion was, Rita had to ask one vital question. "How did you get into my house anyway!?"
"Mermaids have back doors they can't lock. I'd seen you yesterday coming home, but I was a little too afraid at the time to speak to you. When I found that entrance and saw the grotto, I knew it just had to be your house. You always were one for collecting treasures."
The two friends shared a brief giggle. "Now, I have a favour to ask of you," Calypso began. "I don't really have anywhere to live... would you mind if I stayed with you, for a while? Not even a while, but, a long time?"
Rita thought her life on land was pretty good. She had a great job, and then new friends that came into her life and now her best friend was finally joining her. "It would be my greatest honour to have you stay with me!"
They shared another hug before they were interrupted by a grumbling noise. "Oops, I forgot that I haven't eaten yet."
"Why don't you come down for some breakfast with me? I've got some lobster," Rita said enticingly.
You could almost see the drool coming out of Calypso's mouth when it was mentioned. "It's like you knew I was coming."
- The next morning -
All that was left now, was for Zac's parents to move. With their household cut down to just them, they decided they wanted to move out. They were going to get a house in Victoria, but they were outbid at the last moment. Luckily, Bill phoned them to say that a house where they lived in Melbourne, and after looking it over, they bought the property.
"That's everything," Zac said as he carted the last box into the moving van. Bill had sent over a specific moving company that could help them move the stuff free of charge, call it a favour since Zac and Evie did help save his wife.
Zac's mother couldn't help but start tearing up. "I know saying goodbye once to you was bad enough, but again..."
Zac brought her into a hug. "It's okay. I'll come visit you when I can. You know, if I'm not out on a mission or anything."
His mother dried the tears from her eyes and handed Zac a slip of paper. "It's got the instructions on how to get to where we live, for when you do feel like visiting us. If you get lost or anything, just call us or Bill and we'll come find you."
Zac giggled. "You think I'd get lost?"
"Well considering that one time you got us totally lost two years ago on our father-son-camping-trip then yes," Rob joked.
"Hey know, it had been a long day and I didn't realise I had the map upside down. You didn't even realise it when you read it," Zac pointed out.
Rob gave Zac his goodbye hug as well. "You take good care of Evie and your pod. They're all very special to you. Also, don't go dying again, I don't think you can be brought back to life a second time now."
"Don't worry, I'll be more careful from now on." He gave his dad one more hug and waved goodbye with Evie as the van and their car pulled away and drove off into the distance.
"What do we do now? Go back to Mako?" Evie asked.
"We do, because I've got a little surprise for you," Zac replied, grinning.
They dove off into the canal and headed for Mako Island. After drying up on the shore, Zac began leading her to the heart of the Island. When they were close to their surprise, Zac stopped her. "I'm going to need you to close your eyes."
Evie obliged and closed them, letting Zac lead her to wherever they were going. A few minutes later, he stopped and went behind her, putting his hands over her eyes. "You can open them now."
As she did, he took his hands away, Evie gob smacked at the sight now before her. The centre of the island used to be nothing but jungle, but now it was all cleared down, leaving an open space in the middle. In that space, now stood a wooden house, about the size of a three-bedroom house with two floors.
She smiled wildly at Zac and ran inside of it, amazed at how well done it was. It looked just like a regular house, only it had that ocean touch, treasures and seal life placed throughout the house. What Evie didn't quite get is how they were getting power, as there were lights on.
"Okay, besides asking how on earth you made this place, how did you get electricity to this place!?" Evie blurted out. She was still in shock about it all.
"I had Tanya, Sarah and Felicity help me make this place before they left. It didn't take long with a bit of magic. As for the power." He began leading her down a staircase and opened up the door to what was the basement. Inside this small room, a gigantic ball of electricity sat there, protected by Zac's overdrive. "I had Isis leave us this. This alone will last five years but she said she'd come see us every four years to top it up. Even when she gets reborn, she'll keep the promise, by having others come over to do it instead."
Evie was still in awe about it. They already had their home in the moon pool and the rooms under the silver seals, but this was just the icing on the cake. Their own home directly on the centre of the island.
"I think this is one of the single greatest things you've ever done, thank you," she said as she drew him into a very long kiss.
- On the road to Melbourne -
"Rob?" Tess spoke up
"Yes Tess? Rob replied.
"Don't you feel bad for not telling him?" She asked.
Rob eventually realised what she meant.
"It's for the best that he doesn't find out about it. Moving away will make the secret easier to keep."
- Meanwhile, in yet another unknown location -
"Well well, it seems we have the final piece we need to complete our plans," a voice said.
"Zac Blakely, I think you and I will be meeting each other very soon."
Karen: THAT'S IT! THIS STORY IS FINALLY 100% COMPLETE! I can't believe it took me this long... I kept getting stuck on what to write part way through even though I knew what I wanted!
Zac: At least you're done, and now we can have a break
Karen: HAHAHAHA! Oh you're funny. Those last two sections mean you are so not done yet. I've got one final story to do in this Trilogy, and if you thought that this seemed a little dark, then it's about to get darker. I'm talking characters dying for good, and perhaps not the happy ending you were all hoping for from me. The last two had had consequences, and even this has ended on a somewhat good note, even though Seiger is dead.
Lyla: What about me? I've moved to Italy...
Karen: Don't worry. When the first chapter comes out, it'll say right at the top who's going to reappear for this story and who isn't going to be coming back
*Cast begin wondering if they'll be kept*
Karen: You'll all just have to wait for the first part of In Trouble: Over The Trident to come out won't you?
I don't know how long it'll be before I get the first chapter out. I need a break from this, *trust me, I've been writing two other long stories up to this which I have 20,000 and 14,000 words for respectively* and it's my 18th in 4 days!
I love all of you and thank you for sticking with me so long to see this story end. Of course, this story will be the last one is the Season 1 In Trouble Trilogy. Depending on how season 2 of Mako Mermaids pans out, you might see another set of fanfics from me ;) xxx
