Oh my gosh it's been almost a month! I can not say how sorry I am! I have been extremely busy lately with swimming and school… But here is chapter 12!
*Annabeth's PoV*
Everything hurts. Why does everything hurt? Why can't I move? Ow my head is on fire. It even hurts to think. What is going on! What happened? I can barely breath. I feel like I'm breathing in sandpaper. Why is this happening. Where is Percy?
*Percy PoV*
After having that very enlightening talk with my father I ran straight to the Aphrodite Cabin. Lacey was the only culprit that made sense. She had motive, opportunity, and a grudge to settle. All very dangerous components for an Aphrodite kid to have. I didn't even bother with protocol when I reached the cabin.
"LACEY!" I barged right into the cabin, scaring half the kids. One girl turned around so fast her lipstick smeared from her lips to her temple. I looked around furious, determined to find the girl that may have poisoned Annabeth.
"Percy! Look what you made me do! Now I have to start all over again," The girl with the lipstick smear said. Issy, I think, was her name.
"I'm looking for Lacey. Where is she."
"Right here sweety," Lacey sashayed out of her closet wearing a gold and white summer dress that complemented her nicely.
"Where is the antidote."
"What antidote?"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about. Annabeth is poisoned and you are the only one who would want to hurt her."
"Well you keep that girl in very high standards don't you. Come outside with me Percy. Lets get out of this stuffy cabin." She started to walk out of the cabin and I had no other choice but to follow her.
"Stop playing games. Where is the antidote."
"Why do you care Percy. I'm doing you a favor." Her cute demeanor had changed to one of pure hatred. "She wasn't good enough for you. I'm just doing you a favor."
"That's not for you to decide! Everyone will find out about this. How crazy you are. You are truly insane. Now . ."
"If you must know I smashed it. Can have the little blonde beauty making it through can I. So now we can be together." All the blood drained from my face. She must be lying. She has to be.
"You have to be lying. You have to be." She didn't answer me, just gave me a knowing look. Before I could grill her more an Apollo kid run up to me from behind.
"Percy! Percy, Annabeth needs you. NOW!" He didn't need to say more. I sprinted to the direction of the infirmary.
*Annabeth's PoV*
I woke up the feeling of the sun on my face and sand under my back. I was lying out on the beach with a loose t-shirt over my favorite gold and black bikini on. Well this isn't camp. Before I could think more of it I saw the most handsome boy jogging out of the ocean. He was tall, muscular, and had a deep tan, basically the guy you would peg as the king of high school. It took me a few moments before I realized that guy was Percy. When had he grown from the awkward, small, lanky twelve years old to this hotness? Dang.
"Hey beautiful," Percy grabbed a soda out of the cooler next to us. When did the cooler get there?
"Hey, how's the water."
"Amazing. Met some dolphins. One asked if we wanted to go to the movies later, but I said I was pretty busy at the moment. Besides I would hate for my girlfriend to get jealous."
"Jealous huh? Me? What?"
"Hmm so if I go back and tell the dolphin yes you won't have a problem with it?" The smile on his face was replaced with a sexy smirk that made my heart start to go crazy.
"You tell that fish that if she tries to hit on you again, I'll turn her into sushi," with that I laced one arm around the back of his neck and started to pull him into a kiss. Before we touched though I reached around him to grab a sandwich that was on the other side of him. I then pulled back, placed the sandwich on my lap. I looked over to see a look of bewilderment cross his face, which was actually pretty funny.
"Now, now no need for threats of violence," He removed the sandwich from my lap and placed his hands on either side of me. "And didn't your mother ever tell you it wasn't nice to tease people?" He was leaning over me now, slowly pushing me further and further back. As hard as I tried I couldn't take my eyes away from his messy black hair and captivating green eyes.
"No, she just taught me different strategies to help me get what I want," I was fully on my back now, him leaning over me. Not touching me, but close enough to where I could feel the heat radiating off of him.
"So Wise Girl what is it you want," He was so close now I could feel his hot breath on my lips.
"You have to much seaweed in you brain if you really don't know." With that he pressed his lips against mine. I started to lift my hands, the need to touch him growing, but I realized my wrists were trapped in his hands. As a natural first instinct, I tried to pull away and free my hands while still kissing my boyfriend, but it was hard to focus on anything but kissing him. I was still struggling when I felt him laugh against my mouth.
"Calm down a little," He said pulling up a bit. We were both breathing hard, and I was still trying to free my hands. Percy was much stronger than I was though, and he showed no signs of letting go.
"You know I hate being restrained," I said looking up at him. I put a pouty face, which didn't do much more than make him laugh harder.
"You know you're cute when you get mad."
"Not really sure if that's a compliment."
"Don't worry, it is." Dang this boy is cute. For some reason though the temperature seemed to spike up a few degrees.
"Is it getting hotter to you?" I asked. Something wasn't right.
"No, it's just you," Percy started to kiss me again, but something wasn't right. The next thing I knew the waves started to pick up and so did the temperature. It had to be over a hundred degrees out here. Black clouds were rolling in, and lightning started to flash over the sky. I hadn't seen skies this black since Zeus discovered his lightning bolt was missing.
"Percy what's going on? We need to get out of here. Somewhere safe," I tried to get up, but Percy was still holding me down.
"It's ok, we're fine!" He had to yell over the roar of thunder and lightning. The heavens opened up then and released a downpour of rain.
"Percy we have to go NOW!" I used all of my strength to push him off of me and started running up the beach. I didn't get far before the scene in front of me changed. I was standing in the throne room of the Olympians during the last battle of the second Titan War. I saw Luke and Percy in front of me engaged in battle. The only two boys I have ever loved, and I knew in my heart one was going to die. They looked like two gods twisting and lunging in a fatal dance. Every time a blow landed on Luke, my heart clenched. It's not Luke, it's not him. Even with his now golden eyes and powerful aura it still looked like Luke. A monster engaged me from behind and I killed it easily. I heard a scream from my right and looked over to see Luke on the ground, Percy above him holding my dagger. Luke said something to him, something so quiet I couldn't hear. A pained look settled on Percy's face as he handed Luke my dagger. The same one Luke gave to me years ago. The same one that held a broken promise to a little seven year old girl. I couldn't tell what Luke was doing until it was to late. The dagger sunk into Luke's arm like it would with butter, and through Luke Kronos screamed a scream worthy enough of a Titan. It took a second for time to catch up to me, but when it did I wasn't strong enough to stand. As I started to sink to my knees I felt strong arms go around me and lift me up. Percy had caught me. Like he always had. He was whispering something in my ear that I really couldn't understand. I'm sorry Annabeth. I'm so sorry. That's when the tears came. That's when the scene changed once again.
*Percy's PoV*
I raced into the infirmary to see Annabeth thrashing on the bed with a few Apollo campers trying to hold her down.
"What's wrong with her!" I run over and grab her arm, which one of the younger campers had tried unsuccessfully to restrain. I couldn't help but notice how the veins in her arm were turning a sickly shade of green. That green was slowly but surely lacing it's way up her arm.
"She's having hallucinations as result from the poison! We don't know how to stop them!" at that moment Chiron burst though the door to see what all the commotion was about. Then he said the two words that struck fear into my heart.
"It's happening."
"What's happening!" I asked frantically while trying to hold the only girl I loved down.
"The poison. It's spreading to fast. Hallucinations are part of the later stage. The poison creates hallucinations of the darkest, scariest moments of her life. It takes a happy memory and changes it into her worst nightmare. Sometimes they are so vivid they are like the past come to present. She is literally reliving the most fearful moments of her life."
"How can we make them stop! We have to make them stop!" I was growing desperate.
"She needs the antidote within three days or she will be dead."
"Slight problem. Lacey smashed the antidote."
"What!" Chiron looked incredulous.
"Yeah she admitted it to me right before I was called here," A feeling of helplessness settled over me.
"There is only one other cure that I can remember, but it is far to dangerous to consider," For once all of Chiron's years seemed to settle on him at once.
"What is it! I will do anything."
"My boy. It isn't dangerous for you. Just for her. Only one other demigod has successfully survived the other cure. If she wants to live and no antidote can be found then Annabeth must look upon her mothers True Form."
"The one that burns us if we even glance at it? You have to be joking."
"I would never joke at a time like this. If she looks at her mother's True Form it will burn away the poison inside of her. But the reason you will burn if you look upon the True Form of a god is because it is their pure essence, their soul you might say. Demigods get lost in it. They have no anchor I guess you could say. Without the antidote she will die. This is her only chance."
"She is strong enough you know. You can do this." I reached down and squeezed Annabeth's hand. It was hot and sweaty, but I could still feel a pulse. She is strong enough. She has to be.
