A/N: Hello my dearest readers! Here's finally a new chapter for 'Your Last'! Yaih! So sorry for the long wait, I hope you think has been worth it!
And can I just say something? After having seen the final of TO, I have a feeling that the writers, has read this fanfiction and has stolen one of my plot twists... And SPOILER! I mean, Esther coming back in the body of a teenage girl...? Yes, I came up with that twist long before TO final. I do believe it says published January 23, just saying... Anyway, I dont mind, I just hope the writers take full advanges of this twist, as I intend to do and doesn't kill it off too soon and ruins it.
Disclaimer: I don't own TO or TVD, but I do feel I somehow have some owner rights to the 'teenage witch Esther twist'...
But, enough talk from me, let's get on with the story... Enjoy!
"Halloo, anyone here!?"
Elijah groaned and turned in bed, as the unfamiliar voice shouted again, disturbing his much needed sleep. The others were out asking around, trying to figure out the location of his brother and Miss Forbes. Elijah had wanted to join them, but Lucia had practically pinned him to the bed, insisting that he got some sleep or at least tried to. Elijah had managed to dose off when he was so rudely woken. He moaned annoyed and stumbled out of bed, in his slacks and tank, ready to rib the heart out of whoever dared to pester the original vampire.
"What!?" Elijah howled, still groggy from the light sleep, as he ripped open the door to the landing. He was immediately met with an equally annoyed face, staring up at him from the yard. Dark brown eyes glared at him as the unknown female slowly walked up the stairs towards Elijah.
"Don't you 'what' me mister!" the woman shot back rudely and pointed a finger at the older vampire, "I don't know who you are, but I've travelled for 20 hours, without resting and worried sick because I haven't been able to reach my friend. I'm tired, hungry, I have a major headache, I'm seriously pissed and just about ready to kill something! I want answers - now!" Elijah blinked a few times, taken aback by the straightforward ness of the dark blond stranger. She spoke in a strange accent, which was a little familiar to him, but not something he had come across in centuries. Not since he'd travelled Europe with his family.
Quickly regaining his composure, Elijah ran a hand through his messy hair, squinted his eyes at the woman and took a few threatening steps forward.
"How dare you?! Do you have any idea who I am or where you are?" Elijah retorted feeling his anger rising rapidly because of this stranger, "you come into my city, my house, pulling me out of my bed and starts barking orders, you should show a little respect." The woman huffed.
"I don't give a rat's ass who you are," she snarled through gritted teeth and took a few steps forward, coming up to stand, only inches from the original, "I'm here to find my friend and make sure she's okay and I don't care who I have to threaten or kill to make that happen…"
Elijah let out a light chuckle and shook his head.
"You really have no idea, do you little girl?" he said amused. The woman gave Elijah a menacing look, which he returned defiantly. However, their starring contest, were soon cut short by a phone demanding attention. Elijah closed his eyes and let out a breath he had been holding back. Without another word to the intruding female, he turned away from her and walked back to his bedroom, to get his phone. Taking note of the caller ID, the original picked up the phone.
"Chief, what can I do for you?" The hologram of the, slightly chubby police chief, rose from Elijah's phone. He fidgeted as he looked at the original vampire nervously. Despite their close work relations, the heads of the humans would always fear the vampires, just a little.
"I thought I should let you know that someone came in earlier," the chief said, his voice shaking, "and asked about a missing vampire. None of us knew how to handle this person, who seemed rather threatening, so we send her to you... Sorry..." Elijah glance towards the door, to where the unknown female had followed him and now stood, leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed and looked to be chewing a gum with a mischievous smirk on her pale face. Her eyes turned dark red as she blew a bubble with the gum, which lasted a few seconds before it burst. Elijah exhaled tiredly and pinched his nose turning his attention away from her.
"Yeah, I've encountered her," he told the chief, "I'll take care of it, don't worry about it."
The chief of police sighed relieved and thanked Elijah before hanging up.
"You went to the police and asked about a missing vampire?!" The original drawled and turned his attention back to the woman, "New Orleans may be known for its supernatural activity, but as far as tourist and locals know, it's just stories and we'd like to keep it that way and not cause a mass hysteria."
Elijah was really getting tired of these ignorant young vampires; they became more and more careless. The more humans knowing about vampires, werewolves or witches, for that matter, it increased the chances of hunters arising, which would cause a great mess in the supernatural community. The woman pushed herself off the doorframe and walked into the room, keeping her eyes at him. She didn't let on the slightest emotion or hint of remorse.
"I don't really give a fuck," she said nonchalantly, walking up to Elijah with long strides, "I already told you: I'm here to make sure my friend is okay and I don't care who I have to treathen or kill to do so." Her eyes locked with Elijah's and a second later, a knowing smirk grew on her red lips.
"I may be a lot younger than you," she said, her voice just above a whisper, "but I can still make it hurt, even on an original like yourself, Mr. Elijah Mikaelson..." Elijah squinted his eyes at the mentioning of his name, but he held the gaze.
"Who are you? Do I know you?" He asked in wonder, when he found himself unable to read the woman. Usually he would quickly be able to do this, but when it came to the stranger before him, the original came out shorthanded. He knew, she had to be a vampire, but there was something else too. And her confidence, it didn't just come from being ignorant. The woman's smirk grew, as she still held Elijah's glance and she moved in closer.
"I'm someone who's patience is running thin," the woman whispered, in the originals ear, "and you really, do not wanna push my buttons. So tell me, Elijah, where's Caroline Forbes?"
Elijah felt involuntary shivers when her breath glazed his cold skin. The shivers were closely followed, by an angry heat rising, from this woman's antics. Really, who did she think she was? He had only just met her and she was already making the original want do rip her heart out. Elijah wondered why he hadn't done so already. It had been a long time since he'd felt this annoyed with anyone and yet was unable to act on it, for some reason. Elijah took a small step back.
"You're here for Miss Forbes?" he asked, trying very hard to remain calm and hold his composure. The woman lifted her arms and gave him a look, indicating that it should have been obvious. Elijah was about to comment on her rude gesture, when they both heard several steps and voices. Elijah send the younger vampire one last glare before he left the room to get, hopefully good news from his family and friends. Marcel, Stefan, Rebekah and Lucia stepped through the gates to the yard, giving each other reports on their findings or lack thereof.
"Any luck?" Elijah asked them hopefully, as he descended the stairs, meeting them in the yard. The four of them seemed to shake their heads at the same time. Elijah sighed, driving a hand through his hair and was about to speak when the unknown vampire flashed pass him to Rebekah and Lucia, who both stopped dead in their tracks, when the stranger suddenly appeared in front of them.
"Finally!" the woman exclaimed and pulled the two youngest Mikaelson's into a hug, "some fellow female intelligence!" Both Rebekah and Lucia stared at the woman perplexed as she let them go.
"Could you please tell this nuttjob," The stranger said and pointed at Elijah, who slowly approached them with a very tense look on his face, "to grow a pair and tell me what's going on with my friend." The two female originals looked at each other before Rebekah spoke.
"I don't know who you are," she said in a tone that started out threatening, as she looked at the stranger, "but I like you!" she finished with a big grin and lay a friendly arm around the woman's shoulder, "so, about that friend of yours…"
Before either Sasha or Caroline could react, Klaus had flashed towards them and pinned Sasha against the stonewall.
"Who are you and what're you doing with Caroline!" Klaus roared, his eyes turning yellow as he tighten the fists around her pale neck.
"I, I'd love to, tell you, but, but it's kinda hard" Sasha said in between short breaths, "when, when you're squeezing my... throat..."
"Klaus...?" A weak hoarse voice asked behind them, made Klaus loosen his grip a little and at the sight of Caroline on the ground, he let go completely and whooshed to her side.
"Caroline..." He whispered touching gently, afraid that she could break further at the slightest touch. He noticed the bite on her neck. The bastard Tyler had not been lying when he confessed biting her and from the looks of it, Caroline was in the last stage of the poisoning, next was death. Klaus didn't think twice as he bit his own wrist and held Caroline gently. As soon as Caroline felt the warm blood on her lips, she regained a little energy and sucked at the wrist greedy.
Sasha stared at the two. The way he gently held her, caressing her as she sucked his blood. She was surprised and relieved when Caroline slowly regained her complexion. Sasha had been terrified for her friend, when she saw the bite. She knew what a werewolf bite did to a vampire. Sasha had seen it one too many times and as far as she knew, the only way to be cured was an old, very complex and powerful ritual. It could only be done by a powerful witch and took long many painful hours. Sasha had never dreamed that it could be cured by a little blood from this guy. Had Caroline called him Klaus? Sasha crooked her head and studied the man holding her friend. So, this was the infamous Klaus Mikaelson, the first and original half vampire, half werewolf, whom Caroline had told her so much about. Sasha could see the appeal. He was quite handsome with his Northern European features, but in Sasha's opinion all men was the same; lying and cheating bastards, who only had one thing in mind and held no honour or regard for others. Almost 150 years of experience had taught her this.
Caroline moaned as Klaus' warm blood filled her mouth and ran throughout her body, reliving the pain from every cell. Caroline held on tighter to his wrist and bit deeper, as she felt every tissue weaving back together, closing the broken flesh. She didn't know how long or how much she had been drinking, when she finally felt strong enough to think straight. Caroline withdrew her fangs, but held on to the wrist, lingering just above the wounds as they closed up. She kissed them gently before letting go completely and looked up at Klaus. He moved closer to her and where only inches away when they both heard the sound of running feet getting closer. Klaus closed his eyes and sighed before moving away from the blond and stood up.
"It sounds like the rescue team is finally here," he said and held out his hand for Caroline. She gave him a small smile and took it gratefully. However, the moment she stood up, Caroline was tackled by a frantic Sasha.
"Oh my God!" She exclaimed, throwing her arms around Caroline, pulling her into a hug, "you're okay?! How can you be okay?! What just happened?! How did he...?! Oh my God, this is a miracle! I thought for sure that you... That bite would have... Thank God you're okay!" Sasha rambled as she held on to her friend. Caroline chuckled and returned the hug with a smile.
"I'm okay," she whispered, "I'm really okay and I don't know how you did it, but thank you for finding me..."
In the next moment Elijah, Lucia, Rebekah and Stefan appeared in the dim hall. Elijah sighed relieved and walked up to his brother, giving him gentle pad on the shoulder.
Klaus gave him a nod, indicating that he was okay.
Stepping out of the underground halls, Klaus and Caroline found a dozen bodies lying around in a bloody mess. Witches and wolves with ripped out hearts and broken necks. Klaus scanned the bodies and cursed under his breath. There was no Tyler or Hazel among the dead. Klaus and Caroline may be free for now, but it was far from over, more like, it was just getting started...
