Chapter 36

James's Prov

"Go," I told Harry watching as Severus and a few others took him into the castle, the beast ahead of me snarled before lunging, I knew Were speed and dodged, the beast collided with a soldier claws tearing his face, snapping the jaw with one powerful squeeze before throwing the body down and howling, its brute eyes watching me. From the corner of my eye I saw the Grim, Sirius race forward throwing himself into it, his teeth latching onto his right paw.

Remus was half a second behind snapping at the other, the giant Were yelped using its power to throw them both back, they landed harshly but got back up snarling. In the meantime I turned into my stag; a soldier swiftly stepped forward and tied a knife to my antlers. My soldiers shot arrows at the beast to keep it from going after Sirius and Remus before they could rise when I took off my powerful legs carrying me to the Were, antlers lowered I hit it, it howled and yelped as the silver dagger and my own antler pierced it, Sirius was at the Were's left and Remus on its back, both snapping and snarling. Pulling away Remus gave a final snap and tore the Were's throat out in a gush of vile blood and stained grey fur.

We shifted back when pounding feet were heard; servants were fleeing the castle led by a blond boy.

"King James," he asked sword rising.

I felt I knew him immediately "princess Draconis?"

"Yes, help them," the Princess waved the servants and they came to us, medics who had followed after the main battle was finished came to tend them, one approached the boy who held up the sword, his body language read Harry, he was telling the truth. This was the boy we had come for.

"Come Princess," I urged looking into his wandering eyes.

"Harry?" he asked tiredly.

I opened my mouth to respond when he took off into the castle "knights, to me!" I followed the princess into the castle; there was a trail of bodies and blood, thankfully none Harry's.

The throne room's doors were shut sealed by magic as a cackling was heard inside followed by steel.

Harry's Prov

I swung, our swords clashed and I stumbled back from his powerful blow, he was now on the ground as we circled each other, my eyes were trained on him, the corner of my eye I saw Severus go for Draco, a blast of magic from Voldemort blasted him back violently.

"NO!" I screamed thrusting my sword forward, he blocked it with a swing of his as we parried back and forth. We were evenly matched.

"Give up Potter," hissed Voldemort "can't you see your love has as well. Oh Draco, say hello."

He simply whimpered pulling back from the vile voice, my heart broke. My Draco so pained, then my eye caught Severus lying limp along the wall, my Draco would have cried out for Severus… "That's not Draco."

His smirking features marred into a sneer as he motioned throwing a spell, I dodged running forward.

Voldemort threw his hands up and a terrible shattering sound erupted, my ears filled with the sound of millions of tiny glass shards being thrown my way like a nasty cloud.

I threw up a shield charm, a few shards piercing through. My face and outstretched hands stung as it hit me and I toppled to the ground.

"Not so wonderful after all prince," he taunted moving forward swiftly sword poised for a final strike.

I waited, gripping my sword tightly in my pained hand, and slipped a dagger from my boot. He struck down and I countered. Sword on dagger as I plunged my sword deep into his chest, an inhuman roar erupted from him as his skin pealed way like paper in a fire until there was nothing left but my sword.

I raced over to the white silk bundle "you killed it," the voice was not Draco's; I grabbed the front of his robe eliciting a whimper.

"Where is he?" I growled.

"He escaped, I don't know where he is," the boy who looked so much like him sobbed.

A sound erupted from Snape and I dragged the boy to his side not wanting him out of my eye line, "Severus you alright?"

"I'll live, knocked me out," the man looked a bit embarrassed. Behind me the other guards stood watch over the boy, I went to Ron who lay near the doors holding Fred and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"He died a hero," I spoke softly watching Ron nod.

"He, he always said he would one day," Ron replied sadly "he cared for you like a brother."

"Am I cared for him the same," I replied knowing nothing I could ever do would take the grief of losing him.

The doors behind me creaked and I lunged for my sword, grasping it tightly I stood poised with my guards, even Severus stiffly stood to see my father and the rest of the royal guard standing there, with Draco.

"Draco!" I cried out.

"Harry!" he flew into my arms.

"Oh my Angel, I will never leave you again," kissing him "I love you."

"I love you too," he squeezed me tightly.

"I thought I…," I asked looking into his beautiful grey eyes.

"I know," he replied kissing me this time, I picked him up anew with energy and spun him, his perfect smile upon his lips.
