Missing a Family Member: Chapter One : Previously

'You have got to fucking kidding me!' Harry's mouth dropped open and his eyes became wide in shock as he heard for the first time the voice use profanity. Usually they were berating him for using it.

"BOY! Hurry up and get going on your chores. Ungrateful brat…" Harry's aunt groused at him, but Harry was still in shock over what the voice had said.

'I shall tell you before you take your rest tonight young Harry Potter.' The voice said sounding rather resigned before their presence disappeared from his mind.

'Tonight indeed,' Harry thought before he started onto his chores.

Missing a Family Member: Chapter Two

As Harry went through the mechanics of completing his chores he contemplated what the voice told him earlier.

He supposed that yes he was happy to meet the voice in person finally. He knew it was stupid of him to be so trusting but he couldn't help it. The voice had always been there it seemed to him.

He summed it up to that yes while it was stupid it also felt right. It sometimes seemed as if there were a bond between them that sometimes existed between magical twins like Fred and George Weasley.

He gave a small sigh as he headed out to the garden to weed, then he would be done for the day which gave him a small smile.

The smile though was soon extinguished though when he thought back to when he was talking to the voice. The voice had seemed almost worried when they had told him that they would be joining him at Hogwarts for his finale year.

Harry frowned thoughtfully as he tried to puzzle out what might have worried them so. Especially with how urgent they had seemed when they kept getting interrupted by him and his aunt.

Harry gave a small grimace of guilt when he realized he must have seemed so very rude just shoving whatever had been so important to the voice aside.

With a rather rueful sigh Harry turned back to his chores realizing he was getting no where with trying to puzzle this out and he would just have to wait until tonight.

'To tonight,' Harry thought rather sarcastically.

--

"Go to bed boy your distracting Dudley from his program on the telly," Harry's uncle Vernon ordered as if he were some sort of Lord.

"Yes uncle Vernon," Harry replied as turned to leave the kitchen and dutifully climbed the stairs to his bedroom.

Harry walked over the threshold of his room and slowly closed the door, as if shutting out the rest of the world. With a delicate sigh he sprawled across his bed to await the voice.

'Harry?'

'Voice I'm so sorry about earlier! I was rude just cutting you off like that when you obviously had something important to tell me.'

'Tis all right, I don't mind. Now listen and listen closely.'

'Alright you have my absolute attention.'

'Your father as an only child was thought to have no other relatives of his generation. So no one outside of the family would have thought there was another that would be near his age.'

'Wait, I'm confused what does my father have to do with all of this?' Harry thought with a frown.

'In a way nothing but yet also everything, so hush while I finish.' The voice said with only a slight bit of irritation. 'As I was saying no one thought there was any other of the Potters that was of his generation. How wrong they were.

'Now your father had his mother, his father, an aunt and an uncle. This was when he was just graduating out of Hogwarts and easily common knowledge. But what not many knew was that his Aunt Cassandra and Uncle Jonathan had a young child, a daughter, by the name of Rosaline Marie Potter. Many only knew her as Marie the child Lord Potter and his wife looked after.

Are you still with me?'

'Yes I believe so. That would make my father and Rosaline cousins, right?'

'Correct.'

'Thing thing I don't understand is what do my deceased relatives have to do with anything?'

'Yes I suppose you would think them all dead after all there is even an article in the daily prophet speaking of their deaths at the hands of the Dark Lord. You see young Mr. Potter what no one knows but I and soon to be you is that the Lord and Lady Potter had made plans for their young daughter to go to school in the United States of America.'

'Wait, are you saying my…second… cousin is possibly alive? Hold on! How would you even know that?'

'Yes I suppose that is what I am saying.' The voice said with a small little chuckle.

'Please, oh please don't tell me your joking I don't think I could take that. To be able to know one of my family members, but why didn't the Headmaster tell me about the possibility of one them still being alive?'

'Ah now here's the punch line. Lady Potter was a slytherin who married into the lions den,' The voices' laugh sounded rather cynical after that statement Harry thought before the voice went on.

'So let's just say she didn't want some old fool meddling in her little girl's life. Lord Potter held no fondness for Dumbledore but he also held no animosity toward him so he agreed with his wife to keep their only child away from the world around the young and easily influenced girl.'

'Oh. What's wrong with Dumbledore? He's a good man; after all he has looked after me and has gotten me out of this horrible place.' Harry said confusion filling his minds' voice.

'Hmm let me see if giving you an example of his "goodness" will help you understand the Lord and Lady's position better. As you and I both know Dumbledore is a powerful wizard there is no dispute there, even from me. Which means he must be talented at mind arts like occlumency and leglimency?'

'I guess that's true,' Harry responded still not understanding where this conversation was going and starting to think he might not once he found out where it was going.

'You know that leglimency is where the caster can invade a persons mind and fairly much see anything he wants to. So in your first year and in your fourth year your defense against the dark arts teachers weren't exactly up to standards. Now where they?

'Doesn't that make you question whether or not he went into their minds because I can most assuredly say he was in yours. When someone invades another's mind they leave behind something. His magical signature left a sort of magical residue all peoples do after invading another's mind. There are also other leftovers, if you will, from your potions master, Professor Severus Snape, and the Dark Lord Voldemort when they had been in your mind.'

'Oh, well either I'm in shock and unable to react or I kind of expected it. Though as much as I wish it were the former I more inclined to believe it was the latter.'

'Yes unfortunate how harsh the truth can be,' the voice said as if attempting to be humble.

'Agreed, actually something just came to me though it's rather of topic at the moment.'

'And what is that young one?'

'I never asked you for your name and the one time I did you brushed it off and I haven't asked since.'

'Hmm, well I had a reason to never tell you my name. So, it's nice to finally meet you Mr. Harry James Potter, my name is Rosaline Marie Potter but most people just call me Marie.'

'WHAT?'
