Missing a Family Member : Chapter Four : Previously

"How is Mika serving Mistress?" A house elf asked them. It was small as all house elf's where and it was dressed in a simple and plain white dress. It then looked up its large eyes where an odd shade of purple that he had never seen on a house elf before but he figured it must be possible seeing as the house elf here had purple eyes. He then turned his attention back to Marie who was looking at the elf with a thoughtful expression.

"You know Harry many people underestimate a house elf's magic," she said as if it explained all. "Mika I would like for you to transport Mr. Potter and I to room number eleven at the Leaky Cauldron. Can you do that for me?"

"Oh yes mistress, Mika is happy to serve mistress. Please grab Mika's hands mistress and Mr. Potter and hold tight," as they both grabbed hold they popped silently out of Number 4 Privet Drive and into room number eleven in the Leaky Cauldron.

Missing a Family Member : Chapter Five

Harry sat on the ground currently stunned from the sudden jump from his aunt and uncles house to room number eleven at the Leaky Cauldron. As his mind caught up with his body he gave a soft groan because of the pain that filled his posterior from when he fallen after letting go of the house elf's hand when they hand reappeared. He looked up from his position on the ground to see his cousin, Marie, walking towards the only window in the room.

She was unlocking and sliding it open for some reason he didn't understand so he asked rather bluntly, "What the hell are you doing someone could see us?!"

She gave him a disapproving glare for the undignified way he had questioned her and the profanity he used once again when she had told him repeatedly that to use such words was to show you were common and were not educated as a proper person should be. With her glare fading from her delicate yet aristocratic features she sighed and answered his question, "I am opening it for your owl so she may enter and we will not need to worry about letting her in or her arriving when we are unavailable.

"As for people seeing us though the window, it is highly unlikely. I have taken the liberty of places charms to prevent such things and there were already existing charms in place as it is so no need for worry of being discovered."

Harry frowned in thought realizing that made perfect sense and he felt rather stupid for not realizing it earlier. He stood from his position on the ground and turned around to survey the room. It was an average sized room containing two twin beds with calming blue comforters and off white sheets. There was a dresser on the opposite side of the wall containing the beds and just a few feet from the dresser on the same wall was a door that he supposed led to a bathroom. In all it was a simple yet comfortable room.

"Do you approve little one?" A curious and soft voice asked in his ear. Harry gasped startled as he spun around to face his cousin who stood a few feet from him. She wore an amused expression while his face showed shock and embarrassment.

"It's nice. I like it." She gave him a gentle smile at his response. Feeling happy and content that he approved of her choose in their living space.

"Then I am glad," with another smile she turned from him and walked over to were the house elf still stood bowed at the waist awaiting the next command from its mistress.

"Mika I would have you do something for me. You see Mr. Potter and I cannot stay her for that long and I need my… once intended place of residence to be cleaned and proper for occupants to live in it. I would like you to gather the rest of your kind in my service and move their and make it habitable for myself and Mr. Potter. Can you do this?"

The house elf's eyes were wide with disbelief and then they began to tear up as the elf replied, "Of course Mika can do these things mistress asks of her. She is honored that the great mistress would ask such a thing of a lowly house elf such as Mika to have such an honor. Mika is getting on its now she is. Goodbye and good day, Lady Mistress and Mr. Potter, good days to you always." Then with a little flick of the wrist the house elf was gone with out the signature pop of house elves which confused Harry but he didn't dwell on it long before he turned to Marie his mouth opening to question her.

"Now Harry is it a good idea to question your rescuer?" Marie asked a mock serious expression on her face as she gave him a gentle glare.

"No, but-"

"Ah, no buts now mister, to speak about them is considered very inappropriate, I shall explain in due time but not now so please be patient little one." She turned away from him once more and headed to the dresser and began to dig through its contents intent on finding something while Harry headed to one of the beds to sit and watch her as she rooted around in what must be her possessions in the dresser.

Marie gave a soft victorious laugh as she pulled out, a large bundle of black fabric, what she had been looking for in the dresser for nearly ten minutes as Harry watched from one of the twin beds which he had sprawled across as Maries search had passed from a few minutes into 5 minutes.

"What is that for?" He asked her as she shook the fabric out revealing what appeared to be a large onyx silk cloak, that despite the flimsy material looked rather sturdy, with a hood that would pull over the wears face coving everything but the bottom half of the face.

"This is to hide me so that way when I take you shopping for proper cloths I shall not be questioned and, the highly impossible, recognized," she replied to him as she swung the cloak around her slim shoulders before turning to him with a mischievous grin. She then threw the hood over her head and her mouth became a thin serious line instead of the sly smirk. "What are you looking at commoner?" She said to him with a curl to her lips and a slight drawl to her words.

"Merlin you sound like a female Malfoy!" Harry blurted out in astonishment.

With a little titter Marie gave a smile and said, "That's the idea Harry dear. I don't want anyone to know who I am while we are out so you shall refer to me with a shortened version of my first name, Rose. Is that clear? Good. Now lets head out shopping," and with that said she made the only skin visible on her, her mouth, into a cold line once more before turning and walking out of the room expecting that Harry would follow her.

As they emerged into the hallway Marie whispered to him, "Stay close I don't want to lose you out in one of the alleys now do I." He gave a nod and a whispered yes and followed close behind her down the hallway and stairs then out the door to the entrance way to Diagon ally. Pulling out a long, thin, onyx wand she tapped the correct bricks and then slipped the wand safely away as the bricks parted into the archway so as to allow them entrance into the hustle and bustle of the busy ally way.

Enter, stranger, but take heed

Of what awaits the sin of greed,

For those who take, but do not earn,

Must pay most dearly in their turn.

So if you seek beneath our floors

A treasure that was never yours,

Thief, you have been warned, beware

Of finding more than treasure there.

"Ah goblins poetry, so very morbid and sadistic yet flowing and beautiful in its own weird way, wouldn't you say so little one?"

"I suppose," Harry replied giving her an odd look as he followed her into Gringotts, wizarding bank, but turned to eye the goblin guards who seemed to be smirking at his cousins' odd comment or compliment about their warning carved into the wall.

"Come, come Harry things to do and yet so little time to do them," she said as she gracefully and confidently walked up to a goblin sitting behind a desk and filling out papers.

"Yes?" The goblin said in a nasty nasally voice.

"Good day to you sir goblin, I am here to withdraw some money from my vault and to receive some land deeds. My young cousin would also like to make a withdrawal."

"Name, key, and blood sample good patron of Gringotts," the goblin said a sneer covering his wrinkled flesh and his eyes burning with a malicious light.

"But of course sir goblin," Marie replied sincerely, "could we continue this transaction though in a private office. It would be much appreciated." With a nod at her request the little goblin hopped off his stool and to the ground. "This way please," he said and turning led them to one of many doors in the large marble hall.

He gave a sharp rap on the door with his knuckles and stepped back to look once more on the two cousins. "You may enter Ragnok shall help you with anything you need," and with that he spun away back to his desk and pile of papers.

"Hmm, yes well let's go little one," Marie said as she opened the door and confidently walked in to the room. "You must Ragnok? Good. Harry be a dear and shut the door behind you. Now, Ragnok I am here to discuss my accounts and properties. I hope they have been kept in order these pass twelve years."

"It would help Madame," sneered Ragnok at the witch, "if I were to know who I am speaking so I may know which vaults and properties you are referring to."

"Oh of course how forgetful of me, well let's get on with it," she said stepping up to the desk Ragnok was seated behind.

Ragnok reached for one of the drawers and pulled out what looked to be an ornate ceremonial dagger and a simple, somewhat yellowed, piece of parchment. Setting the parchment on the desk he waved Marie forward and held out the dagger to her. Plucking out the beautiful dagger from the goblins hand as if would contaminate her she pricked her finger and let a single drop hit the parchment. Handing the dagger back to the goblin she stepped backwards and stood once more next to Harry who stood in the middle of the room watching the proceeding with curious eyes.

Slowly the drop of blood curled outward and started twisting in loopy, old world, writing.

A look of shock had come across the goblins face as he stared down at the parchment where Marie's assets lay out before them in a neat list. Harry supposed his face must look extremely like the gobbling who had yet to come out of shock. Snapping his jaw shut and turning to look at Marie who had a rather smug look on her face, at least the part you could see, was watching both the goblin and young wizard.

"Well," the goblin said uncomfortably clearing his throat as he looked anywhere but at the two humans in his office. "If you will follow me Lady Potter and guest I shall escort you to a goblin that will take you to what ever fault you need to go to." Turning from them he started across the room and was out the doors into the large white marble hall with the young man and woman closely following him.

"Harkson will take you down to your vaults. Thank you for using Gringotts as your banking service. Goodbye and good day." With that all said Ragnok turned and went back to his office leaving the two of them with this new goblin who was watching them with small black beady eyes.

"Follow me," he said turning away and heading for the doors that would lead them to the tunnel in which they would take a cart down to their vaults. As they got in the cart behind the goblin he continued speaking, "Vault number?"

"Vault two please," Marie replied pleasantly.

The goblins head shot up his once small eyes wide in astonishment. "Yes of course," he mumbled out. "Don't lean over the side, wouldn't want you to fall off now would we," he said nastily in an attempt to get back his surly demeanor and rid them of the idea that he had displayed any other emotion.

Harry climbed into the black mine cart after the goblin Marie right behind him. As he sat there the wind whipping his hair around his face he looked at Marie who hood had remind up even in the wind created from their high velocity. As he watched her mouth slowly faded from its harsh scowl to a small serene smile. With a sudden jerk the cart stopped.

"Vault two," the goblin toned out hopping from the cart followed by the two Potters.

Harry stood behind Marie as she gazed up at the large doors with a roman two (II) written on the front. Marie stepped up to the doors and from within her cloak pulled out her wand. She ran it across her palm drawing forth some blood which pooled in her hand before the cut closed. He watched as she pressed her bloodied hand to the door and then stepped back.

The blood crept across the surface of the vault filling into the number so it shown the sickly red of her blood. With a groan and loud creak the doors slowly swung open letting out a large amount of dust flow out.

"Oh Merlin, is that a…"
