She stared straight into death.
"Why?"
"It is my duty, my purpose; I was awakened to kill you and your pathetic friends. It is time." He tried to look as cold as he could.
She just stared caringly back.
"Just stand still and close your eyes. I'll try to make this as easy as I can," he said.
He ran forward ready to thrust his Banyru into her heart. He hadn't even gotten close to her before she had her bow ready and aimed. She shot through his arm without a second thought, restraining as much miko power as she could to not fully damage him.
"This is not you Bankotsu, do not listen to Naraku. He will kill you as soon as he is done with you. Join me, you can live!" Her words were heated with pain and anger. She would not give up her soul or his without a fight.
"Your just pouring salt into an open wound," the hole in his arm sealed up thanks to the power of the jewel shard, "It is the end of your time, priestess." He could not bring himself to say her name. He knew she knew that.
She shot another arrow, this time at his Banyru, seeing as he was ready to fight again. It flew far beyond his reach and he was not going to turn his back to the miko. He pulled a dagger hidden in his breastplate and flung forward. She tried to shield herself with her bow but his dagger easily cut through the damaged wood. She surged with power and flung a small shield around herself.
"You can't kill me," he spat.
"You can't kill me," she replied.
Her shield deteriorated and she pushed against him with an arrow in her hand. Her arrow was pointing straight at the jewel shards in him. His dagger too close to her for comfort.
"Bankotsu, I love you." She was not shy. She did not sprout tears. She stared straight into his eyes, death eyes. She kept her chin up.
That's when he plunged the dagger into her leg. Her scream almost killed his heart. Almost.
He was happy he did it though, now she wasn't staring at him with those eyes.
