DISCLAIMER: I make no money
Sorry I still haven't got back to Julian, not 100% what I'm gonna do with him yet... Meanwhile have a getaway.
'What, how have they found us, did they follow us all the way from the apartment?' asked the Doctor immediately, a moment of panic flashing in his eyes. Adler shook her head.
'No, I've been looking since Baker Street and evidently they aren't the smoothest driver, I would have noticed them. They will have seen either your or my face on one of their security cameras and just turned up.'
'Security cameras? How did they-' suddenly he was cut off as the black car appeared around a corner in front of them and Adler slammed the breaks. Everyone slammed forwards and Sherlock jolted off the seats, landing in a twisted heap with a small groan of protest. The Doctor's seatbelt caught and he whipped backwards. Before they could recover, Adler started reversing the taxi full-speed up the street, slamming them forwards again. The cab spun backwards around a corner, wheels screaming, and came to a halt in a dead-end behind a building.
'Get out' instructed Adler, who was already out and slamming the door behind her. The Doctor wheezed and managed to untangle himself from the seatbelt and stumble out of the cab. Beth slid open the back door and came out now wearing jeans and a T-shirt. She ran around to where Adler was behind the taxi and shoved her bundle of clothes in the boot. Meanwhile Adler was busy switching the license plate to a foreign one from the boot. She stood up and gave the plate a kick for good measure before gesturing to the Doctor.
'Get in the back and get down.' The Doctor didn't think twice and jumped in the back, crouching down next to Sherlock who, after being jerked from his place, was starting to stir. He vaguely tried to straighten himself onto his back, mumbling unintelligibly. Adler jumped into the taxi, stepping over Sherlock and seating herself in the back corner in front of the seats. It was a squeeze but the three of them could just about fit in the tiny floor space of the cab. Beth had taken the driving seat and reversed back onto the street, setting off in the direction they had come. The Doctor tried to keep his balance as they bumped along and Adler pulled up her knees to avoid Sherlock who was now trying to roll himself over. With some effort, he managed to twist his head to the side and half open his eyes.
'Doctor?' he mumbled drowsily. His gaze drifted around the taxi and rested on Irene. Squeezing his eyes shut, he groaned and pushed himself around. Sherlock frowned for a moment, still staring at Adler, before something in his brain clicked and he realised who was sitting next to him.
'You!' he exclaimed, angrily. Immediately he started to push himself onto his elbows. 'What's going on…' he started angrily but the slurred protest quickly trailed off as his strength left again and his arms gave out and he collapsed back onto his back. Sherlock let out a sigh and feebly tried to lift his head, failing. The Doctor leaned towards him.
'Sherlock, it's OK, Irene's helping us. She's taking us somewhere safe so Section 31 can't find us.' Sherlock didn't reply but continued to stare unfocusedly at the Doctor for a moment before his eyes drifted shut again.
'He used up his energy quickly' commented Adler. The Doctor 'mm'ed in agreement and sat back against the door.
'Beth, keep us updated.' Adler called to the front.
'OK, we're back to the lights at the junction…' She peered either side of them and slowly moved the cab as the traffic slowly advanced. 'No sigh of them yet… oh, there they are.' The black car was coming at right angles to them. Beth could see the driver looking around, his eyes always coming back to their taxi.
'He keeps looking at us…' her attention was snapped away for a second as a van next to them honked angrily. She held up her hand in apology and moved towards the front of the queue.
'Well do something to remove their doubt.' Instructed Adler simply. Beth smiled.
'Got it.' With that she flicked on the radio and turned it up before pulling the cab across the traffic, earning several honks. She swung across the orange light and turned down the right turning, scraping along the side of the Section 31 car. They heard the metal screeching and Adler smirked. The driver pressed his horn for several seconds and rolled down his window. Beth looked across with sneer and rolled down the passenger side window, letting the radio music blare. The driver of the black car started shouting to turn it down and give him her insurance details. Beth leaned over so he could see her face and sent back a long stream of shouting in a foreign language. The driver continued to scream at her but she just laughed and turned up the radio even higher as she drove away, sticking two fingers up out of the window for good measure. As they drove away, Adler grinned and got onto the back seats, kneeling up to look out of the tinted back window. The Doctor couldn't help himself and jumped up to look out at the driver's furious face as he drove in the opposite direction.
