Now, enough grumpy Morgan talk, lets get on with this short chapter-
Chapter 12-
She caught sight of a flash of blue across the room.
"I'm coming after you, Mister Fernandes," she growled, starting through the crowd.
Jellal knew that Erza hadn't meant to send him away but he just couldn't resist using the opportunity to annoy her, so there he was, setting off to explore more of the Mayor's house. His reflection caught his attention out of the corner of his eye and he almost laughed.
The disguise has worn off again has it? He thought with a smile, imagining all the trouble it could cause. He followed a slightly familiar, tall person through a doorway into what seemed to be an empty courtyard.
The person half turned.
"Oh, Sapphi-oh."
The Mayor stopped himself and turned around completely, eyes widening and jaw dropping at the sight of Jellal.
"Sorry," he breathed, "I thought you were Sapphire...you remind me of him actually."
Stepping closer, the Mayor gained a great smile as he added, "But you, wow, you're much better looking than he is!"
Disturbed by the adulation being aimed his way, Jellal moved back and to the side, unintentionally backing up against the wall.
"Yes," continued the Mayor in amazement, moving even closer, "Holy wow, you're attractive. Your hair, your face..."
Unable to stop himself, the man clapped his hands onto Jellal's face, turning it this way and that while Jellal himself was immobile with surprise.
"And this tattoo," went on the Mayor, totally enthralled as he pulled on Jellal's cheek.
Moved by panic now, Jellal tried to push at the other man's shoulder.
Just in time, Erza appeared in the doorway.
Truthfully, for a moment, she did consider just leaving Jellal to fend for himself. However she needed him in one piece. So she determinedly walked over to the pair and clamped her hand on the blue haired man's shoulder, grabbing a fistful of his suit jacket.
"I'm sorry, Mister Mayor," she said firmly, "But this is mine."
"Oh!" the man caught himself and backed away, his hand pressing to his reddening cheek, "Oh, dear me, I don't know what happened! I guess I got carried away!"
He smiled at Erza a little playfully, "If that one's yours, can I have Sapphire?"
Sapphire? Wait, but...oh, that's what I forgot! The disguise must have worn off!
"No," she slowly, "He's mine too."
"Oh," the Mayor sighed in disappointment. Then he grinned and winked, "Oh, I see, well aren't you a lucky lady, Miss Scarlet?"
He paused for a moment, "By the way, where is Sapphire? I thought I saw him around somewhere..."
"Oh, he's around, perhaps you should go and find him?"
The Mayor nodded, "Yes, yes, I think I will do that..."
Erza waited until he left before she leveled Jellal with an intense stare. He shifted uncomfortably, ruffling his hair as he looked at her a little sheepishly.
She surprised him by smirking as she released her hold on him and stepped back.
"Was that enough 'fun' for you, Jellal?" she asked, her tone coated in amusement
He visibly shuddered but found a smile.
"It was certainly interesting..." he remarked, "But I'd rather have fun with you."
"Hmmph," she rolled her eyes before she turned her attention to their pleasant surroundings.
The courtyard was quaint, soothing really with the light scent of blossoms floating around beneath the star speckled, inky sky. She frowned. The only thing that ruined the view was the three statues of the Mayor.
He's rather full of himself, isn't he? She thought with a wry smile.
While Erza was surveying the courtyard, Jellal was deciding that he didn't want his fun to be over so soon. He quite liked the idea of going back into the party and confusing people about who he and Sapphire were.
Like the good old days with Siegrain, he recalled fondly as he began to edge towards the doorway.
Erza turned her head sharply, "Where do you think you're going?"
Without waiting for an answer, she snapped her arm out and grabbed him, pulling him close and delivering one of her infamous knockout punches to his torso. A strangled groan escaped him before he slumped forward onto her.
"Oomf," she wheezed, staggering back a little under his weight, "I'll not let you get into anymore trouble tonight, Jellal."
Slipping her arms around his torso and slinging his arm around her neck, she began to mentally plan out the return trip to the Inn.
Rather conveniently, there was a little gate at the other end of the courtyard which seemed to be a back entrance. It was perfect really, this way they wouldn't have to go through the crowd again.
Taking a deep breath, Erza started forward, dragging Jellal with her across the pavement. Only a few steps into their journey, the toe of her shoe caught on a loose tile. Twisting awkwardly as they fell, she landed rather hard, the air rushing out of her lungs. She groaned a little and lifted her head, noting that the landing had been rather soft for Jellal...seeing as he had fallen on her.
Blushing, she roughly shoved him away and got to her feet, dusting herself off before and heaved the man up. Because he was nothing but dead weight at this point, she decided she would just have to carry him a different way.
She all but gave him a piggyback ride. It was a slow, very long walk for poor Erza.
Of course, upon arrival back at the Inn, Mr Davden wanted to hear all about the party. One look from Erza dissuaded him however and she hefted Jellal up the stairs. He seemed to grumble a little, making her think that perhaps he was starting to wake up. But even if he was, he was probably going to wake up in pain, and not just because of the blow that knocked him out.
"Sorry, Jellal," she muttered after hearing the thud that accompanied his head hitting the door-frame as she entered their room.
He groaned and she had to ignore the tingle that shot through her at the sound. She moved them over to the bed and awkwardly sat him on its edge, shuffling limbs and detangling herself from him. He started to slip forwards and sideways and so she grabbed his shoulders to stop him.
His head of blue hair drooped forward, hanging loosely. She watched him carefully and then let go off him, sure that he would be able to hold himself upright. Apparently he couldn't. He toppled forward, tackling her to the floor., his face pressing into her stomach. Which of course was when he woke up.
What the-
He forced his eyes open and squinted for a moment, trying to get his bearings with as little movement as possible. His head throbbed dully and he wondered why. More than that however, he wondered what the soft thing he was lying on was. He moved his hand, feeling around and coming into contact with something just above his head that was round and rather large.
His muddled mind couldn't comprehend what it was, though as he lightly squeezed it, he thought it was kind of familiar...
Suddenly a fistful of his hair was grabbed and he was jerked painfully upwards, coming face to face with Erza.
Oh shit.
Oh shit indeed.
His body registered the position they were in faster than his mind did and it reacted swiftly, heating and hardening. His startled eyes flicked down to her chest, which he was still groping.
Immediately letting go as his face burned red, Jellal was about to stutter an apology while he tried to scramble to his hands and knees so she wouldn't feel any evidence of his desire for her. Erza's own face was tinted with embarrassment and...something else, but for the moment she only noticed one thing. Jellal's panic. She grabbed the back of his neck to stop him moving away.
"Jellal," she said, her voice soft but her tone firm.
He kept his eyes from hers a moment longer but then gave in, just in time to see a small smile play on her lips.
"It seems as if you're back to normal."
He frowned at her, "Normal?"
Before she could even get a frown of her own at his confusion, a third voice spoke up.
"Well, this is cosy."
The eyes of both Jellal and Erza shot to the source of the familiar voice, their mouths falling open slightly in surprise.
"Siegrain?" they asked in disbelief.
"That's right," the other blue haired man purred, smirking at them, "I'm here."
"No, that's impossible," Erza insisted.
"Unbelievable..." whispered Jellal.
AN: Short chapter because it moves things along and also i didn't want to come empty handed with that grumpy AN at the start.
