It was Tuesday and the day Bernadette was returning with Howard from Washington.

Everyone was sat around Penny and Leonard's living room waiting for the horn of the car carrying two of their best friends.

"So you guys are going to Texas?" Leonard said, sitting next to Penny, "That's great, I mean for the twins,"

Amy nodded, "Yes, the twins are very excited to meet their grandma," she briefly looked at Sheldon.

Things hadn't been 'normal' with them the last couple of days. Amy's feelings for Sheldon were intensifying and Sheldon wasn't sure what he was feeling for her.

"So," Penny said, "Ames let's get the twins, Bernadette just texted me, she says they're like ten minutes away," Amy nodded and followed her out of the living room and upstairs to the playroom.

"Sheldon, how are things between you and Amy?" Leonard asked, obviously sensing the awkwardness.

Sheldon shifted, "I'm not sure, Leonard," he began, "I'm beginning to feel something very strong for her,"

Leonard's eyes softened, "Do you love her?"

Sheldon narrowed his eyes and looked down, did he love Amy?

Leonard looked at his best friend, he already knew the answer but he knew Sheldon had to come to his own conclusion.

"I believe I do," he finally replied.

Just then Penny walked in, carrying Ryan and Amy following behind, hand in hand with Marie and Tyler.

Tyler ran straight to Leonard, "Uncle Leonard remember two months ago when I asked you who Aunty Bernie and uncle Howard were?" he asked.

Leonard nodded, all eyes in the room were of Tyler.

"Could you tell me again please?" he asked smiling widely.

"Aww," Penny cooed as Leonard chuckled. She bent down to place Ryan into his swing.

"They will be here soon and you can–" he was interrupted by the horn of a car outside.

Everyone stood up and Marie ran to hold Amy's hand, Tyler holding onto Leonard.

Penny walked to open the door and flung herself at Bernadette.

"Bernie!"

Penny hugged her friend tightly as Bernadette did too. Penny started to cry as she pulled back.

"Amy," Bernadette said, hugging her friend. Amy squeezed Bernadette, her friend who had been there regardless.

As they pulled back, Penny spoke, "Come in, come in guys, there's no way we'll all fit in the hall,"

As the group of friends moved to the living room, they were all able to greet each other properly.

Leonard hugged Bernadette, then Howard, "It's great to have you back," he smiled.

"And who's this little one?" Howard asked as he looked at the infant now in Penny's arms.

"He's Ryan," Leonard beamed. Bernadette smiled at the young child unconsciously rubbing her bump.

Bernadette then moved her attention to the other four people the room, they were all stood together behind Penny and Leonard and it tugged at her heart how much they looked like a family. How it should have been from the very beginning.

Howard moved to give Sheldon a hearty handshake, "Congratulations Sheldon, for everything," he said looking down at the twins.

Sheldon nodded, "Thank you Howard," he paused, "For everything,"

Howard moved to hug Amy tightly, "I'm glad you're ok, Amy," he said into her ear.

As they pulled back Amy replied, "Thank you Howard and congratulations," she said mentioning Howard's new father-to-be status.

Bernadette approached Sheldon, "Come here," she said opening her arms to hug him.

She wrapped her arms tightly around him as she felt him lightly tap her back.

Howard waited for Bernadette to pull back before asking Amy, "Marie and Tyler?"

Amy nodded and looked down at the children standing together, Marie holding Amy's hand.

"Hi guys," Howard said, kneeling in front of them.

Tyler spoke up first, "Hello," Marie took her brother's cue, "Hello,"

Howard and Bernadette smiled at each other. It seemed like only yesterday that they were babysitting two month old babies.

Amy wheeled the double buggy into their apartment.

"Are you sure this is alright?" Amy asked.

Howard and Bernadette had offered to babysit Marie and Tyler for the weekend so that Amy could go to this neurobiology conference in Santa Barbara.

At first Amy had been hesitant because the twins were only two months old, but Howard and Bernadette insisted, then Penny insisted that she should go and take some time for herself.

Bernadette nodded, "Yes, of course Amy, you just go to the science conference in peace and have fun,"

Howard added, "Yeah, plus this is great practice for us,"

Amy smiled at Bernadette's face.

"In the bag there's clothes, formula, nappies, wipes and a schedule with all their feeding and nap times," Amy said.

"Don't worry Ames everything will be fine," Bernadette said.

Amy nodded and said bye to Howard and Bernadette before approaching the buggy, she stroked each baby's cheek before quickly leaving the apartment.

"So," Howard said, "What should we do now?"

Bernadette moved to take the bag off the buggy and look inside. She took out the schedule and checked the time.

"Well, here it says that we have to feed them at half past ten," she said, "In about twenty minutes,"

Howard nodded, he was still stood in front of the buggy before he began to squirm, "Can I take one?" he asked.

Bernadette smiled at his eagerness, "Sure Howie,"

Slowly Howard took out Marie from the buggy, holding her perfectly.

She began to squirm and Howard held his breath, but instead of crying Marie just yawned a huge toothless yawn.

"Oh," Bernadette cooed, "Should I take Tyler?"

Howard nodded, but didn't even look up, he was completely entrapped by the baby in his arms.

Bernadette was nervous but she wanted to do this for Howard, she was going to try.

She picked up Tyler just like Howard had and both moved to sit on the sofa.

"They're so adorable," Bernadette said.

"Yeah," Howard replied, then he suddenly became quiet, still looking at Marie, "Do you think Sheldon would have returned?" he said after a while.

The question caught Bernadette off guard, "Howie," she sighed.

She shifted in her seat, careful to not move Tyler too much.

In the end, she answered,"I don't think so,"

Howard looked over at her, "He was always an ass but I don't think he would have stayed there," he paused, "I think he would have returned,"

Bernadette smiled, Howard was the last guy she expected to have faith in Sheldon.

Later that day, they were reading the notes Amy had left for them and discovered that the buggy came apart to create a bassinet for the babies to sleep in, also, Amy had brought the white pad for the changing table so they could change them there.

They had already fed the twins and placed them down for their nap.

Howard sat on the sofa, Bernadette leaning against his arm.

"If this is what it's like to be a mom, I could get used to it,"

Bernadette smiled at Marie and Tyler, since that first time they looked after them, they felt a strong connection with the twins. It tore them apart to have to leave their group of friends but they were finally back, plus one.

"Is there a baby in your tummy?" Marie asked pointing at Bernadette's bump.

Howard looked at Bernadette with a grin, "Yep," she answered, smiling.

Amy smiled at Sheldon, everyone was caught up in the moment, Leonard kissed Penny who was lovingly smiling at Ryan.

"Is it a girl or a boy?" Tyler asked.

"We don't know," Howard said, grabbing Bernadette's hand, "We want it to be a surprise,"

Marie's eyes widened, "But how will you know what clothes to buy?"

Bernadette and Howard smiled at her, "You sure are the perfect copy of your dad, huh?"

Sheldon smiled at Marie, the girl smiling widely, "I am?"

"Aw," Penny smiled at her delight.

Once the couple got settled in Penny and Leonard's guest room which they were going to be staying in until they could get all their things shipped to their new house, the group sat down for dinner.

"So Amy, Penny tells me you're thinking of going back to work?" Bernadette said, lifting a forkful of food into her mouth.

Amy nodded, "Yes, the twins are almost old enough to start school and so not only will I have more free time on my hands but there will be the fees, so I decided that it is the best time,"

Bernadette nodded as Sheldon looked at Amy, they hadn't discussed how he would help with the twins financially, but there was little doubt he would be willing to pay for what was necessary and what wasn't.

This brought an uncomfortable silence between them, Amy had mentioned to Sheldon that she may move to Massachusetts, something which would complicate things very much.

Penny spoke up before the tension became unbearable, "So Bernadette, you're how many months along?"

Howard grinned as Bernadette said, "Five months,"

"Aw," Penny said, "we'll have to organise a baby shower soon,"

Bernadette smiled as Leonard spoke, "So Howard, have you spoken with Raj at all?"

Howard's face saddened, he was always the most torn up after Raj returned to India.

"Umm, no not since Sheldon's ceremony," he said motioning to the Nobel laureate.

"By the way, he said congratulations and that he always knew you had it in you," Howard said.

Sheldon replied almost surprised, "Well, tell him thank you,"

A sad silence befell the group, they all knew very well that Raj was an integral part of the group, each one of them were.

Penny spoke again, "Sheldon, you haven't spoken much, tell Howard and Bernadette about your time in Switzerland, your trip to Texas, etc," she said looking at the twins.

Marie and Tyler were sat in front of Penny, Howard and Bernadette with Amy in the middle. At each end of the table was Sheldon and Leonard.

"Well, I don't think there's much to tell about Switzerland," he said, "It's clear I was researching the properties and behaviour of scalar particles under under the laws of string theory,"

Penny rolled her eyes, "Well did you see the city at all?"

"Why on earth would I take time out of my pre-revised schedule to visit tedious 'landmarks' infested with international pathogens commonly known as people?" he asked, Amy smiled.

Penny glared at him, "Final try," she said to Leonard through gritted teeth.

"So Marie, Tyler and Amy are going with you to Texas, right?" she asked, "Discuss,"

"Oh I bet Mrs Cooper is so excited to meet the twins," Bernadette said.

Sheldon nodded, "She is, she called me today to ask what their cake flavour preference is,"

"Mine is blueberry," Marie grinned, "And Ty loves pecan pie,"

Tyler nodded, his cheeks full of food.

"She also called to ask me their shoe size, " Sheldon continued.

"You're going on Friday, right?" Howard asked.

"Yes," Sheldon replied as Amy nodded and the twins giggled excitedly.

"Well, I'm sure you'll have a great time," Leonard said.
