As Sheldon wheeled the luggage trolley towards the exit of the terminal, he wondered just how he was going to explain the fact that he had fathered children four years ago to his extended family.

Amy was walking behind him, tightly clasping the hands of both twins, who seemed to have had their energy absorbed from them throughout the flight.

As they approached the final doors to arrivals he wondered who was going to be there. Usually when he visited, it was only Missy who came to pick him up and drove him home.

Before walking past the doors he turned to look back at Amy. She nodded to him and he walked out.

As he looked around he saw Missy. She walked towards him, a grin plastered on her face.

"Hiya Shelly," she smiled, eagerly looking behind him at Amy.

"Hello Missy," Sheldon replied.

He moved out of the way of the other passengers exiting and stopped, standing aside for Missy to see them.

She looked at Amy and at the young children either side of her. Her mouth opened and closed as if she wanted to speak but was lost for words.

"Hello Missy," Amy spoke.

"Oh Amy," Missy said, her voice breaking.

She looked at Sheldon, her eyes desperately holding back tears.

She looked at him almost thankfully, as if she had been waiting for this moment her entire life, but wasn't sure whether it would ever come.

"Missy, this is Marie and Tyler," Sheldon introduced.

She crouched down to look at the children.

"Marie, Tyler, this is your aunt Missy," he finished.

Missy was left almost gasping for air, she whimpered a quiet, "Hi,"

The twins looked up at their mother and then at Missy, "Hello aunt Missy," they said.

Marie, being the more curious one, stepped forward and softly touched a curl of brown hair framing her aunt's face.

"You're very pretty,"

Missy couldn't hold back any longer and tears began streaming down her face.

Marie looked alarmed at Sheldon. She didn't know why Missy was now sad.

She quickly wrapped her arms around her and patted her back.

"Don't cry, I can sing you Soft Kitty if you like," she said.

Missy hugged the young girl tightly, taking a deep breath and pulling back to look at her.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Marie," she said.

Tyler walked over and also touched Missy's hair.

"It's really soft,"

Missy laughed softly, "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Tyler,"

Tyler smiled a lopsided smile she had seen throughout her infancy and she immediately knew that although she had just met the twins, she already loved them more than she ever thought she would.

She looked up at Sheldon and Amy who were now stood next to each other, looking at the events unfolding.

She stood as the twins moved back to hold their parents' hand. Missy moved towards Amy and hugged her tightly.

Amy was taken off guard but hugged Missy back regardless.

"It's so wonderful to meet you, Amy, although I feel this has been long overdue," her Texas twang rang in Amy's ear and all she could do was smile and say, "I agree, it's lovely to meet you too,"

She then moved her eyes to Sheldon, who was stood on her right, next to Amy.

"Come here, Shelly," she hugged her brother tightly, "I didn't expect to say this so soon, but," she paused, "Congratulations, you're a dad,"

Sheldon hugged his sister with his free hand, for the first time in his life, genuinely.

"Thank you Missy," he could feel three pairs of eyes on them and pulled away. He looked at his sister and saw that she was crying again.

She smiled at him and said, "Well, let's get going, mom can't wait to meet you,"

As the car drove past the familiar neighbourhood, Sheldon couldn't help but have flashbacks.

The cat scanner, the death ray, the FBI. All these things had happened to him long before he left for college and now he was back, but instead of this visit being like all the others, the Christmases, the birthdays, it wasn't.

He was returning with two people who were half his.

Missy pulled out the key from the ignition causing the roar of the engine to halt, bringing him out of his reverie.

Amy started to unbuckle the twins and Sheldon stepped out, walking to the trunk of the car to take out the bags.

It was then that she appeared.

Mee-Maw.

She walked out to the front porch and smiled warmly at him. He looked at her the same way he did every time he visited. A look of pure love and admiration.

He walked over to her as she opened her arms beckoning him over.

"Is that handsome man my Shelly?" she laughed.

He hugged her tightly, his tall frame bending to accommodate the short woman.

"Hi Mee-Maw," he replied.

As she pulled back, she held him at arms length. "Have you grown taller?" she paused as if really contemplating this, "Soon this poor old woman will have to use a ladder just to talk to you," she laughed.

Sheldon grinned at her, "Don't worry Mee-Maw, my last growth spurt was in the late summer when I was 17," he paused, "I assure you that since the height scare of '09 where I accidentally put Leonard's shirt on, I've been tracking any changes weekly,"

She smiled warmly at him.

"Four wheel bags are efficient,"

Sheldon heard from behind him and turned to see the twins standing with Amy next to their luggage, Missy was smiling at the looks exchanged by the couple.

"Mee-Maw, this is Amy," he said walking as the trio walked towards them.

"Oh, Amy what a pleasure to finally meet you," she spoke with a warm Texan twang, "It's great to finally put a face to the never ending things Shelly has told me about you,"

Amy smiled, "It's great to meet you too," she turned to look at a blushing Sheldon.

Mee-Maw looked down at the children stood in front of them.

"Oh, you look just like your parents," Mee-Maw said, looking up at Amy and Sheldon who smiled proudly.

"Children, this is my grandmother and your great-grandmother, Mee-Maw," Sheldon introduced.

"Hi Mee-Maw," Tyler spoke, followed by a long yawn.

"Hello," Marie spoke after her brother.

"Oh well aren't you the cutest things!" Mee-Maw smiled.

"They seem to be a bit tired from the flight," Amy said.

"Poor things," Mee-Maw spoke.

It wasn't long before Mary came running out, frantically wiping her hands on the apron she wore.

"Shelly!" she hugged him tightly, "Oh, I've missed you,"

"Hi mom," he said, patting her back softly.

She pulled back, "Now where's Amy and my grand-babies?"

She looked at the two young children watching the scene unfold.

"Oh aren't they just..." she placed a hand over her mouth, tears beginning to form in her eyes.

"Mom, this is Marie and this is Tyler," Sheldon spoke, "Marie, Tyler, this is your grandma,"

"Hi grandma!" the twins said in unison. They had been excited to meet their extended family.

Both Tyler and Marie hugged Mary as if they had also been waiting for this moment their entire short life.
