Nurse Jackson was not originally what people would call the "Scary Bitch". Once upon a time, she was a bright eyed, smiling young nurse who believed that with a little hard work, anyone could be cured.

She started her way in Oceana Hospital in the pediatrics section where kids came in for check-ups and the like. Then became an ER nurse. It was a steady climb into the Extended Stay wards. People liked her for her cheerful bedside manner and her always bubbly nature, but every nurse knew that it wasn't going to last.

Every nurse and doctor in the Extended Stay ward was going to have one patient who they would grow attached to. Usually, there wouldn't be just one, but this patient would be different. This patient wouldn't make it. It was a rite of passage, fate's way of saying that you can't save everyone. It's what made them work harder.

Eve Porter was a fifteen year old girl with long, blonde hair and big, brown eyes which were the only thing "big" about her. She was Nurse Jackson's first anorexic patient and was therefore intriguing to the young nurse.

As time went on, Eve and Nurse Jackson got closer and closer. Nurse Jackson found out about how Eve's mom and dad has died when she was very young and thus had to move in with her grandparents. It didn't take a genius to find out that the family wasn't close since Nurse Jackson hadn't seen even a hair of them except for the day Eve was dropped off. The young girl wasn't sure how exactly she developed the disorder and was actually very uncomfortable talking about it. The doctors assigned Nurse Jackson as Eve's full time nurse and everyone was very pleased with Eve's progress.

Two months passed and Eve had gained enough weight that she was trusted to not have to be tube fed all her meals. More months passed and, despite the oddity of Eve never actually looking like she gained weight, it showed that she was gaining weight on the scales.

However, one morning, Nurse Jackson went into work and everyone was frantic, congregated around Eve's room.

In a panic, Nurse Jackson rushed to the door to see what was happening to the young patient only to see her on a respirator and doctors try to revive her. After three shocks, the head doctor called it.

Everyone told her that it was not her fault, anorexic patients were tricky. Her head even blamed it on himself, saying he should have known she wasn't experienced enough. Anorexia never wanted to be eliminated.

When there was a clean out of Eve's things, it was discovered that Eve had bean bags filled with sand that weighed a pound each. Most likely, she would stuff them in her pockets before her weigh-ins. There were also dozens upon dozens of water bottles that most likely she would guzzle down to add water weight.

So years later, when Nurse Jackson was told by Brittany, a young nurse who reminded Nurse Jackson of her young self, that Emma had gained a pound, she was very skeptical. Emma desperately wanted to go to some Yale expedition, but didn't want to gain the weight.

"You do know Emma's not Eve, right?" Dr McAndrew asked.

"Yeah," Nurse Jackson sighed. "That's the problem. At least then we'd know how she "gained" weight."

"Yeah," Dr McAndrew sighed, closing the folder he was looking at. "That's the problem."

"Wha-Then what is the problem?" Nurse Jackson demanded.

Dr McAndrew shook his head, "I'm just saying that you need to lighten up. Be the hugging parent."

"And as I said earlier," Nurse Jackson glared, "Starving monkeys die."
