Hiccup was declared dead after being carried off by a Night Fury during a dragon attack. Years later, the same dragon reappears - with a rider. Only no one knows that he is Hiccup, who joined the Protectors of the Wing and now watches over the dragons that are hunted and killed by humans.

A Hiccstrid Modern AU. Astrid, stuck in not only one, but two dead-end jobs, trying to get back on track after moving to Berk, sets her kitchen on fire - accidentally, but still more than just once.
