Clumsy

TenTen quickly brushed her hair into her signature twin buns, gnawing at her lip as her feet began to run in place. She was late, very late; classes would be starting in twenty minutes. Luckily she only lived seven minutes walking away from her school so she had enough time to grab a granola bar and run out the door.

Quickly tying the second hair tie around the left bun, she bolted out of the bathroom and down the stairs into the kitchen. Picking up a granola bar on that had conveniently been left out on the table for her, she ran to the door, slipping on her shoes and snagging her bag before running out and onto the lawn, pulling the door shut behind her. She set a steady pace towards the school, easily running across the pavement without losing her footing.

Oh man I'm late, she thought as she got nearer to the school, looking down at her wrist watch. She still had eleven minutes. Thank the Gods Mom and Dad decided to live so close to the school. I'd have been screwed if we lived further away.

She ran into the school parking lot and towards the large doors. Pulling them opened, she walked inside, checking her wrist watch noting that she had six minutes to get to class, Yes, time was on my side today.

She headed towards the hall that led to the history classes checking out the photos of the school teams as she went along. Her hand touched the photo of the cross country team, staring at her own smiling face as she stood next to her friends, happy times before school got so hectic.

She chuckled a little before continuing down to her classroom and entering the opened door.

"Ah Ms. TenTen; hello dear," her teacher said giving her a soft smile. "I see you're a bit ruffled, wake up late again?"

TenTen laughed; rubbing the back of her head as she stared out the corner of her eye at the wall, "You can say that. I had to run here if I wanted to make it on time. Thankfully I didn't trip."

"I've always said that you're a bright girl, you just have a hard time getting up in the morning," the teacher said giving a light smile. "Go on and take a seat, the bell is going to be ringing in a few moments. And your classmates will be late if they don't move their asses."

TenTen laughed, shaking her head. She loved her Japanese History teacher. She always kept it real no matter what the circumstances.

Walking over to her seat as the first bell rang, she sat down, pulling her bag off her shoulder and letting it drop on the floor. She reached inside, pulling out her notebook, textbook, and her pen before setting them down on her desk. She let her elbow rest on the desk top; her cheek pressed into the palm of her hand. She whistled softly, drawing little patterns onto the surface of the desk with a finger from her free hand. Then she heard the door open.

Because she was curious, she turned her head and looked towards the door to see a young man dressed in a pair of dark, crisp blue jeans, a freshly pressed white shirt, and crisp white tennis shoes. His long brownish black hair was pulled into a ponytail, the tie resting a few inches above the ends of his hair; his pale eyes peered around the room. TenTen couldn't help it, she kind of perked up when he made his way to the teacher's desk in front of her and began speaking with her in a hushed tone.

Was he a new student?

She hadn't realized that she was leaning a smidge too far to the left until she fumbled and unceremoniously fell out of her seat like the klutz she was. Quickly picking herself up before either of the two people that also occupied the room noticed, she sat back in her desk and hid her face in her arms.

I can't believe I klutz'd out because of a cute guy, TenTen reprimanded herself. Smooth TenTen, very smooth.

"Well welcome to my class, Mr. Hyƫga," her teacher said as she stood from her seat and extended her hand to him, seemingly ignoring the klutz attack her other student had suffered moments prior. "It's a pleasure to have you. Since I do assigned seats and the only seat left open in here is the one next to TenTen there, you can take that one."

"Of course, thank you," he said; his voice smooth and baritone.

TenTen's head shot up when she heard what her teacher said. He was going to be sitting next to her?

She couldn't help the shutter or the little droplet of drool that lingered on her lip before she quickly wiped it away as she watched him weave through the desks to take his seat beside her. My GPA is so going to drop dramatically.

She groaned, letting her head rest on the desk top again. I can already feel it.

Because nothing says I like you like falling out your seat while ogling a hot guy. Honestly, I'd have done the same if I was in TenTen's place LOL. Neji's just too perfect not to ogle.
