Kiss Me through the Phone

She looked up when she heard her cellphone ring from in the dining room. Carefully she placed the plate she had been washing down.

Now who on earth could that be, she wondered to herself.

Pulling her hands from the dish water before drying them on the drying towel that hung over her shoulder, she quickly made her way over to her phone, picking the device up from the dining room table. A large grin crossed her features when she read the name on the screen before pressing answer and placing the phone to her ear, "Neji!"

His soft chuckle was heard through the receiver at her greeting before he spoke, "TenTen, I take it this wasn't a bad time to call?"

"Not at all," TenTen said taking a seat at the table, her fingers automatically playing with the placement mats that decorated the mahogany wood dining room table. She made a mental note to put those away since she and her children weren't eating at the time. "The children are all tucked in and I was just cleaning up the kitchen." She leaned forward on the table a bit, another smile adorning her features, "How's your trip so far?"

"Stressful," Neji answered with a sigh. "We are making little to no progress on this merger. It is taking far longer than I had originally anticipated."

"Aw," TenTen pouted, her lower lip poking out. She was hoping that her husband would be coming home within the next few days but after hearing that the merger for a project Hyūga Corp. was to be part of was taking far longer than expected, she knew that meant that he wouldn't be home for at least another week, "And I was looking forward to seeing you at home again. The children miss you… I miss you."

She knew that those simple words had brought a smile to her face.

"I miss you all as well," he said softly. "I'll attempt to wrap this up as quickly as possible. I'd rather be home than in this hotel room."

TenTen couldn't help but giggle lightly as she fingered the diamond wedding band and fuchsia diamond engagement ring she had left on the table before she had begun cleaning, "I'm sure our bed is much more comfortable than those beds there at the hotel."

"Hn," he grunted.

She knew that meant yes.

She was silent for a moment, content with just hearing him breathe for a moment before she spoke again, "Good luck Neji. It sounds like you need it."

"Hn," was his response once more.

"I love you," she professed.

"I love you too, TenTen," Neji replied, bringing a small smile to his wife's face.

Another moment of silence passed before TenTen blew a kiss to her husband through the phone. Something she had done in the early years of their relationship whenever he would have leave for long periods of time.

Another chuckle sounded from the man she loved, "It's been a while since you've done that."

"I felt it was necessary," TenTen said before she yawned placing a hand over her mouth to stifle the sound.

"I'll let you go," Neji said, hearing her yawn. "Goodnight, TenTen."

"Goodnight Neji," TenTen said blowing him one last kiss before hanging up the phone.
