You

"Neji," the bun haired college student called to the quiet man that sat by her side on the grass under the stars.
"Hn," he grunted, turning to look at her, brow irked.
"Can I ask you a question," she asked quietly.
"I suppose."
Silence enveloped them for a moment or two before the brunette sighed, eyes looking up at the stars that shown overhead. She bit her bottom lip lightly.
She was trying to find the right words to describe what it was that she wanted to say without completely giving herself away. After a moment, she finally spoke, "How would you react if someone you were close to told you that they were in love with you?"
His brow furrowed as he tried to understand what it was she was telling him.
Was there someone close to her that had admitted to loving her?
He felt himself bristle at the thought before he calmed again to answer her, "I'm not exactly sure what you mean, TenTen… perhaps you should explain a bit more?"
She sighed, knowing that would happen, so much for being inconspicuous.
Clearing her throat, she tried to rephrase what she was trying to say, "Okay think about it like this. If there was someone you knew for a long time and suddenly they told you that they had fallen in love with you, how would you react?"
He glanced over at her, trying to figure out why she was asking him of all people these things. Surely this was a topic one would consider talking to another of the same sex about.
It also didn't help that he felt a little pang of jealousy. If someone had told her that they loved her, his chances would dwindle to nonexistence.
Sighing, he finally answered after a moment, "I'm not sure, to be completely honest. It is not something I have had to deal with nor is it something that I see myself dealing with, ever."
The brunette bit her lip. She should have known that was the reply she would get from him. Of course he had never had to deal with something like that because she never told him how she felt before. And she probably wouldn't be able to tell him now.
"Is there a reason you're asking this TenTen," he asked as he glanced over at her.
She didn't answer him.
"This doesn't seem like a topic you in particular would concern yourself with," he continued after a moment.
Again, TenTen didn't answer immediately, trying to think of something to say that wouldn't lead him to believe that she was asking because she wanted to know how he would feel about it should she say anything...?
It took a few seconds for her to figure something out before she spoke again, "Well, I have a… ah, friend who is going through this situation and she asked me for my opinion. However…" she stopped for a moment to lick her lips and stare up at the stars again, "I didn't know what to tell her so I thought maybe you would have a suggestion?"
She turned to look at the Hyūga, waiting for him to say something.
He had heard the uncertainty in her words, as if even she did not believe what she was saying. However, Neji, being the genius that he is, figured out what it was she was trying to tell him almost instantly. All the signs were there.
"Might I suggest that she simply tell this person how she feels," the Hyūga asked irking a brow.
Again the female licked her lips, still staring up at the sky decorated with shimmering stars and a beautiful, bright moon as she spoke, "She can't. She doesn't know how he feels."
She paused for a moment, trying to gather her thoughts again.
"And…" she continued after a moment, "She's afraid that it will ruin their friendship if she tells him and he doesn't return her feelings."
His brow rose further at this statement.
"But it is also very likely that he does return her feelings tenfold. However," he turned to look up at the night sky as well, "She will never know this if she does not tell him."
She couldn't help the glimmer of hope that shown in her eyes as she turned to look at the Hyūga that sat by her side. Biting her lip, she waited for a moment before asking the question that was on her mind, "What do you think he would say if she did tell him how she felt?"
His eyes remained on the scenery above them, the faintest of smiles on his lips. He had seen the look she gave him from the corner of his eye. He had been right after all, it was her she was talking about. And this "friend" she had been referring to was him, just as he thought.
"I cannot say exactly what this man your friend loves would say since I am not him," he spoke after a moment. "But I can give you a vague idea."
There was a smirk on his lips before he continued.
"He would tell her that no, her feelings are not unrequited, that he actually does love her, just as she loves him," he told her after a moment of gathering his thoughts, "Possibly even more. He would tell her that she is the centre of his thoughts, the object that keeps him sane whenever he felt uneasy, the only woman he could ever possibly love. That she was beautiful. That he adored everything about her that made her who she is."
He then turned to look at her, the corners of his mouth turned upward.
"He would also tell her that, if given the chance, he would show her that every word he said was true," he continued after a brief pause. "At least, that is what I like to believe he would say to her."
The sudden urge to glomp him and kiss him swept over the kunoichi and before she could even stop herself, she had done exactly that, catching the Hyūga off guard as they fell backwards into the grass.
She couldn't help but relish in how soft his lips felt against her own.
She felt him kiss her back after a moment, his hands coming to wrap around her waist, holding her close to him.
She couldn't help but feel so right nestled in his arms, their lips upon each other's.
The white eyed male, completely caught by surprise, fell backward onto the ground beneath her. That was not the reaction he had expected. But that didn't mean he didn't like it.
He responded almost immediately, his kisses feverish, arms wrapping around her waist, pulling her closer and holding her there. It felt so right having her in his arms. And he didn't want to let go.
It wasn't until the need for air became too great that they separated, Neji staring into the brown depths that were the young woman's eyes, a slight smile on his face.
The bun haired ninja returned his smile, burying her nose in the crook of his neck, taking in his scent. She could feel happy tears prick at the edges of her eyes, glad that he had felt the exact same way.
She had been so afraid that he would reject her that she never even thought of the possibility that he might actually love her. For that she chided herself for her foolishness.
"TenTen," the Hyūga called to the girl who was still resting upon him as he grasped her chin gently, making her look up at him. "Will you allow me the chance to prove that the words I spoke are true?"
TenTen stared into his eyes, her breath caught in her throat. She couldn't believe the words she heard him say.
With tears slowly starting their decent from her eyes to her chin, she nodded, giving him a happy smile, "Yes."
"Hn," the Hyūga hummed, offering the slightest of smiles at her answer.

Song: You (Unreleased)
Artist: Chris Brown

It was inspired by an RP a friend of mine and I did over a year ago. I just thought that it fit so well with the song that was chosen at random for my iPod challenge. There are still two others after this.
