Percy Jackson and the Quest to Save the gods
I Do Wish
Percy's POV
I kept thinking about two things that morning. Well, one thing and one person.
One was my dream, and how I was pretty much mauled by three hellhounds. My sword was nowhere to be found in my dream, either. Did that mean I couldn't trust that my sword would always return to my pocket when I lost it?
My right hand subconsciously went to my pocket and I felt my sword, Riptide, and immediately felt a little sense of relief.
Then there's Annabeth.
I thought about her honey blonde hair, and her grey eyes that made me feel so i-
"Mr. Jackson," said my history teacher, Mr. Boutin. He had aparently saw that I wasn't paying attention to his utterly boring class. "Mr. Jackson, read from the top of the page that we're on." He said, smiling. He knew that he had caught me.
I looked down on my desk to see an unopen history book.
Brrriiiiinnnnnggggg!
Saved by the bell, thank gods. I jumped up and ran out the door along with all the other students. As I exited the classroom I felt Mr. Boutin's eyes on my back, making me shiver and walk faster.
It was lunch time and we were having spaghetti. Kids lined up to get their delicious meal while I, on the other hand, sat at an empty table and put my head in my hands, pondering about everything that had happened today and when I would get to see Annabeth again.
All of a sudden I felt a hand collapse on my shoulder. I looked and turned around to see three lunch ladies.
"Ma'am's?" I unnervingly asked.
They started to melt, to transform. It didn't take me long to realize that they were turning into the furies. Of course, I thought to myself. I can never finish a school without something happening.
I ran to the table beside mine and grabbed a hand full of some kid's food and threw it one of the furies. I yelled, "Food fight!" Thankfully, everyone joined in. The other two furies were distracted by all the flying meatballs and noodles, so I made a run for it.
No one followed me as I busted out the doors to Goode and ran to the nearest alley.
I turned the corner and I called Blackjack. In the next minute I could hear his wings flapping above me.
"Hey Blackjack!" I said, grinning at my friend. "I need a quick ride to camp. You don't mind, do you?"
I heard the furies burst out the front doors and yell for me.
Blackjack's eyes widened.
"Hop on, boss!" He said, and I wasted no time mounting him.
We were flying off by the time the furies rounded the corner.
"There!" One of them said. "Get him!"
"Uh, Blackjack," I said, "you might want to go as fast as you can. Unless you want to meet the three furies."
"Oh, no, we are not meeting up with those ugly things!" And we climbed as high as we could into the sky and lost the furies in the clouds.
"Nice going, buddy!" I said, smiling and stroking his mane.
"All in a day's work, boss!"
We flew for about five minutes and then I saw the shoreline of Long Island.
Yes! Almost to camp!
And almost to Annabeth, I thought.
Blackjack let me down besides Thalia's tree and he then went to the stables, but not before telling me I owned him big time.
I walked down the hill toward the Big House. I saw campers playing volleyball in the sand, picking strawberries in the fields, and then I saw a blonde headed girl walking towards me.
Annabeth.
My heart may or may not have stopped a little bit when I first saw her, but she doesn't have to know that.
"Hey, Seaweed Brain!" Annabeth said, smiling from ear to ear.
I had to break free from my thoughts of how beautiful she was to reply to her.
"Hey, Wise girl. How've you been? Miss me?" I said, grinning at her.
She laughed. "Oh, you wish!"
Yes, I thought. Yes I do wish.
