Percy Jackson and the Quest to Save the gods
Start of Something New
Percy's POV
We all stared at the girl, who's name was Audria Oceanus, with our mouths shaped like O's.
My dad, Poseidon, had sired another kid? He has already gotten in a lot of trouble with me. I can't wait to see what Zues will do now.
Like I said before, she had sea green eyes patterned like a turtles back, with long, black hair, and she didn't have freckles. Like me, I had all those things, except the turtle eyes. Cade, my friend from the Athena cabin, will get a kick out of this.
"Your father is Poseidon?" Asked Chiron.
"Yes." She said, looking like she was becoming more comfortable with us staring at her. "I was living in Alabama, but my mom, step-dad, step-sister, and I moved to New York yesterday. I was attacked by a HUGE hellhound. I know hellhounds are already huge, but that thing was 5 times bigger than a regular hellhound."
"Hades probably found out. The same happened with you, too, Percy." Chiron said, nodding to me.
"Yes, I know how that feels." I said, thinking back on my first year at Camp Half-Blood.
"And... you are?" Audria asked, looking at me.
"Oh!" I said, blushing slightly. I forgot not everyone knows who I am sometimes. "I'm Percy Jackson, also a child of Poseidon."
Her face broke out in a massive smile.
"So, I'm not alone?" She said, looking at me with heartbreakingly sad, puppy dog eyes.
"No," I said, firmly, but softly. "You are not alone. I'm here, and so are all the other half-bloods that are like you and me. We're all a family here."
She took a breath and nodded, showing she understood.
I knew how she felt, that she has finally found someone to relate to. It feels good to know that there's someone else out there like you.
"Percy, Annabeth, go on to your cabins. We will talk in the morning." Chiron told us.
I told Audria that I would see her in the morning, and that she needed to rest, and then Annabeth and I went to our cabins.
The next morning I woke up and looked at my clock beside my bed. It read 7:15. Breakfast is in 15 minutes. Perfect timing.
I got out of bed, took a shower, and threw some clothes on. I was curious to see how Audria was this morning.
I walked to the pavilion and sat down at my table, alone, and wondered where Audria was.
I saw Annabeth as soon as she saw me and she waved. I winked and smiled, causing her to blush, which made me smile even more.
Chiron came in with Audria, and I thought, Man, this will be an interesting breakfast.
"Listen up campers," Chiron began. "We have a new camper. Her name is Audria Oceanus. She is a daughter of Poseidon." If the new camper part didn't get their attention, then that sure did.
"What's up with her last name? Oceanus is a Titan." Asked a guy from the Hermes cabin.
Audria spoke up. "When I was born, my father, Poseidon, and Oceanus were best friends. Oceanus didn't like the war going on between the gods and the Titans. He was on our side, more or less." She looked uneasily at Chiron, who then beckoned her to continue. "When I was born, he gave me a gift, which to this day I still don't know what that gift is. My father told me that Oceanus' gift is a 'power gift'. Oceanus watched me grow up along with my father. They came to my softball and basketball games whenever they could stow away from Olympus. Oceanus was always there for me. He was like a second father to me. But then Zeus grew angry that Poseidon and Oceanus were such close friends and had gone to see me so much, so he threw Oceanus into the 'Titan Jail,' as my father told me. I haven't seen him since." Audria said, then looked down, pained.
"Percy, Annabeth. I will need both of you in the Big House after breakfast is adjourned." Chiron said firmly. He looked at me, then at Annabeth. We both nodded and continued with breakfast.
When breakfast was over, Annabeth and I went to the Big House. Chiron and Audria had left half way through breakfast and was already there.
"Sit down, both of you." Chiron told us.
We did as told and the meeting began.
"Audria has told us the news. The gods, yes, all the gods, have been captured by the Titans. We don't know how. But you, Percy, have a quest in your hands. Do you accept it?" Chiron asked me.
I was stunned by the news of the gods being captured, but I cleared my throat and told him I accepted the quest. I've had a quest before, but this was about saving ALL of the gods. My first quest to find the lightning thief in the Underworld was a piece of cake compared to this.
"Well, you know the drill." He nodded to the stairs, signaling me to go speak with the Oracle.
I walked up the stairs and to the attic door and it opened without me pushing it. Spooky, I thought. Must be the wind.
I slowly walked in the room, looking all around. I noticed the table that had several different items on it, but then I saw a flicker of light come from my right and I turned to see what it was. The Oracle was ready for me. I walked up to her old, skeletal self and she opened her mouth to speak.
I am the spirit of Delphi, speaker of the prophecies of Phoebus Apollo, slayer of the mighty python. Approach, seeker, and ask.
I took one more step towards her and asked, "How do I save the gods?"
If the Oracle can smile, she just did.
Four shall go where the gods suffer
Don't get held back by the blocker
You will need to be very careful
You might be blameful
Love will be tested
You wouldn't want it ended
Play it right and you'll come back with victory
Or your quest will turn out badly
I was speechless and frozen. I couldn't even think, but somehow I was able to walk back down the stairs. When I saw Annabeth it was like being awoken from a dream.
"Well?" Chiron asked.
"Four shall go where the gods suffer. Don't get held back by the blocker. Be very careful. You might be blameful. Love will be tested. You wouldn't want it ended. Play it right and you'll come back with victory. Or your quest will turn our badly." I said.
Annabeth was thinking, as always.
"So, obviously, four people are going." Annabeth said.
"Yes, what people are going Percy?" Chrion asked.
"Um… Annabeth, Audria, Cade, and me." I said with satisfaction.
"I'll do it!" Said Annabeth.
"Me too!" Said Audria. Well, now time for Cade to answer.
I told them I had to go speak with Cade, and I left the Big House.
I found Cade at archery practice.
"Hey." I said, walking up to Cade.
"Hey, dude." He said, wiping a bead of sweat off his forehead. "What's up?"
I swallowed a little bit of my nerves back. "Ahh, nothing much. Just a quest that I want you to attend."
He stopped shooting and looked at me with his big, grey eyes, incredibly similar to Annabeth's. "A quest? Me? Go on a quest?"
He wasn't acting nervous, he was acting like it was his birthday and his parents just bought him a brand new car. He was even jumping up and down and everything.
"Well, yeah!" He said, after he stopped jumping like a three year old on Christmas morning.
"Good. Annabeth, Audria, and me and you leave in the morning."
"Audria?" He asked, confused.
"Yeah." I said, whispering this next part. "She's my half sister. We will fill you in later, Cade. I'm sure you two will be best friends before you know it." I said, smiling about the last part.
I wanted my sister to have good friends like I did. Not like a Luke, but like a Cade. I'm sure he'll protect her when I'm not there to. He's a good person like that.
I walked back to the Big House to find Annabeth and Audria talking like there's no tomorrow.
"Hey guys, Cade said he'll go. He's also looking forward to meeting the new child of Poseidon, too." I said, looking at Audria, who was staring at the canvas on the wall.
Something made her come back to reality, however, because she jumped and said, "Oh, that's me! My bad, I have the attention span of a squirrel." Audria said.
"S'kay, I do, too. Things get boring for me easily." I said. The whole truth though. It's really hard to pay attention. You know, easier said than done. I love that saying.
"Looks like the both of you will get along just fine." Chiron said, smiling at the both of us. "Show her the Poseidon cabin, Percy, and then have Cade show her around camp afterwards."
We left the Big House and I showed my new half-sister our home. She loved it, but said she'll have to get clothes and bathroom necessities. I told her that I would take care of all that for her. She smiled at me and gave me a short, sweet hug.
'Thank you, Percy." She said, and I could tell we would have an amazing relationship from that moment on.
Cade came to the cabin and asked if Audria was ready to see the rest of the camp, and I told her to go on. I followed close by to see how they were together, and to make sure no one said anything really mean to her, even though I was sure no one would. Although, you never know what the Ares kids are going to say.
Cade and Audria seemed to get along really well, especially for a Daughter of Poseidon and a Son of Athena. Like I said before, they'll be best friends in no time.
We had dinner in the mess hall, and Audria sat with me at the Poseidon table. It was nice to have someone to talk to. I got kind of bored sometimes.
After dinner, we all went to our cabins. We all needed the sleep. We had a big day tomorrow; our quest was beginning.
