It's no Ocean's Eleven, but here's to "Time Heist".
Again: blatant spoilers for 08x05: "Time Heist" and mild allusions to 08x04: "Listen".
Keep your mind blank!
For the Teller is near…
Don't think about guilt
or be distracted by fear.
Don't think of a thing
(certainly not the heist!),
forget about every stake,
and don't consider your plight.
The last of his species,
the last of his kind,
he can Tell if you're fibbing
by reading your mind.
He'll turn your brains to soup
that leaks from your eyes
if you dare to deceive him,
if you dare feed him lies.
So malicious, he is!
So hateful, so cruel!
To infiltrate his domain
would take an undisputable fool.
(Or four, perhaps?
Are we limited to one?
Might be four times the madness –
if you ask me, I'd run.)
But these four, these fools,
they're braver than I,
and smarter and skilled…
They might just survive.
The cyborg, the human,
the Time Lord, the imposter:
an unlikely group, given,
but somebody must stop her!
Ms. Delphox, the Director,
Karabraxos herself!
She lives like a tyrant,
like a god, so much wealth.
One day, you'll regret!
And be crippled by age;
You'll remember the things
that you wish you could change*…
You'll give him a call,
he who fought such a bout;
you'll beg him for a favour
that's he's already carried out.
The best agents that the cosmos
has to offer, my friends,
are the least likely; you'd think
that they'd clash to their ends:
the hacker, augmented,
though still human, of sorts,
and the amorphous shape-taker,
cell-replicator, of course,
are vital, so crucial,
to do such a deed,
and there's a creature in darkness
that needs to be freed.
Like any good thieves,
there are things that they want:
a heart for the Tin Man, and
some courage worth the plot.
But the greatest reward,
what makes it all count,
is freedom, liberation
escape from despair and from doubt.
The Teller, the Teller,
who breeds fear through the eyes,
the teller's not the last;
those were absolute lies.
Servitude is required.
No, the Teller's not bad;
fear makes us companions,
makes us think we've been had.
Fear of extinction
and loneliness and sorrow,
for to be the last of a race
makes you dread each tomorrow.
The man with two hearts
has saved the day once again,
and she's back in time for a date
with a man who's a 'friend'.
*original (the Doctor to Karabraxos): "You'll be old and full of regret for the things you can't change."
