Part 6: Fear and Frost
Chapter 20: Reunion
Date: February 13th 2043
The stench of charred scales and flesh filled the room. Sapphire and crimson liquid swirled together; mixing into a purplish color that melted in with the rain that poured into the room from the ceiling like a waterfall, flooding the floor with water that measured a foot deep. The blast of thunder, the snarls of a reptile, the roar of raging fires, the grumble of shifting earth, and the battle cries of five men all rang through the night, only to be drowned out by the rain that pounded heavily on the ground.
Another gigantic section fell from the ceiling, crashing down loudly into the water, and fiercely shook the ground. The shock made me loose my footing, and I slipped into the bloody water. I struggled to my feet, using my swords to hold me up.
Fear dove once more at me, and I struggled to bring up Frost Bite to deflect her swinging claw. The man dressed in black jumped in front on me and drove his glowing blade into the ground. A pillar of pure marble shot up and pierced through Fear's hand. The dragon screeched a horrible noise. She flapped her mighty wings and pushed with her free feet, desperately trying to get away.
I took this chance and ran forward, dragging my blades in the marble submerged in water. I jumped in the air, using the remains of my wings to gain extra height. When I reached the highest I could stand, I fell. I shouted out as I dragged my blades into Fear's head. My blades went in until their handles were the only things sticking out.
Fear gave a fierce shriek and tossed her head around. I jumped from her swinging head to the ground and watched in awe as her skin left of Frost Bite turned to pure ice, and anything to the right of Guilty Blade turned pure black. The side of Fear that was covered in ice started to crack, and the darkened side bubbled.
The men in ninja uniforms walked up and next to me, awe in their eyes, though the one in blue had a face that showed more disgust than anything.
Another shriek racked my head, and pain followed. I fell to my knees, and caught myself before I fully slammed into the ground. I shook violently as the ninja in red helped me up, still watching our enemy.
As quick as a flash, Fear exploded.
Ice chunks flew everywhere, and black liquid splashed into the blood filled water at our feet.
I blinked twice before I realized what happened. I smiled faintly, and stood straight. I breathed heavily and noticed a trickle of blood come from a cut on my forehead. I had a burn on my left leg too, but I wasn't focused on that.
I looked to each of the men's eyes, and noticed their elements in their irises.
"You saved me. Why?" I asked softly.
"Well you are technically our nephew. Zane and Lloyd were our 'brothers' after all." The one in blue said with a smirk. "I'm Jay Walker, the Ninja of Lightning."
"I'm Kai Flamey, Ninja of Fire." The one in red said as he patted my shoulder.
"And I'm Cole Brookstone, the Ninja of Earth." The one in black finished and shook my hand.
"You're a good swordsman." Kai observed, staring at my swords that had landed in the water. Fear's blue blood clung to them, despite the water that tried to wash it off.
"Thank you… I noticed that you have a sword as well."
"Oh, this?" He held up the golden handled sword with the strange glowing blade. A sudden burst of fire enveloped the sword, and quickly went out.
"Yeah. It's cool how you can make it burst into lames like that." I said as I got a closer look at the ruby eyes in the dragon's head.
"Well, your swords can either freeze or make something turn into a black, bubbling ooze. That's got to be something." Cole stated as he leaned on his sword.
I looked over to my blades, and walked to them. I sighed and picked them up, staring at Frost Bite. It froze Fear… I didn't know that it could do that.
Where was Zane? I hadn't seen him since….
Something loud crashed behind us. We all whirled at the same speed and stared in awe at a huge pure white orb that had risen from the water. The orb shimmered and I noticed something within it.
A pair of glowing sapphire eyes.
I gasped in horror, as the orb seemed to smirk.
"You thought that you had gotten rid of me, boy. But I will never stop hunting you! I will not stop until you are finished!"
The orb burst into a large white snake. The snake had Fear's evil sapphire eyes. Her tail curved into a hooked spike. She was gigantic, and looked as though she could eat anything.
"I-Is that…?" Kai started, unable to finish.
"T-The Great Devourer." Cole finished, staring in horror at the snake.
Fear narrowed her eyes and raised her tail like a scorpion. She gave a mighty hiss and jabbed it down to the ninja.
"We are so hooped!" Jay screamed as they all rolled away from the spike. "The only reason we beat it last time was the itty bitty weak spot on the top of his head, and that required ALL of the golden weapons! Which do not exist anymore!"
"No, but our elemental blades are stronger than our golden weapons! Besides, this isn't even the Devourer, it is Fear." Kai said as he evaded another attack from the giant white snake.
I watched as Fear targeted the others, ignoring me. This was my chance.
I ran forward, and repeated what I did for Fear's dragon form, using my wings for extra height. I came down, ready to finish her new form as quick as possible.
Something suddenly slammed into my waist. Something with multiple, tiny thorns.
I was thrown into the farthest wall, and fell to the ground with a splash. I stood once again, and softly placed a hand over my waist, leaning on the wall. I hesitated, but looked to my new wound.
Just as I had thought, multiple little scars had been inflicted on my right side. There were about seven of them, and they were all the size of my pinkie tip. I winced and forced myself to walk forward. I watched the ninja in awe.
Other than a slash in their uniforms they seemed untouched. No doubt it helped they were trained in the art of Spinjitzu. But I had trained all my life, while they had nearly forty years maybe.
I heard a shout and gasped as Cole slammed right next to me into the wall, cracking it. Kai did the same on my left side, and Jay slammed into me. We all slumped to the ground, and watched as Fear slithered over to us, a triumphant smile on her face. She opened her mouth and dove to us.
"Do-not-harm-my-family!" Came a voice filled with pure anger. In the blink of an eye Fear was thrown back into the far wall, nearly crashing through it.
We all stared in awe at the man standing before us.
His coat flapped in the wind his attack had created. His jeans were tight from the knee down, yet loose any higher. His boots were more like winter boots with a batch of fur at the top. His whole outfit was snow white, yet his skin was even whiter. His eyes glistened like crystals, and his hair stood straight up, unfazed by the attackers swift movement. He held a golden handled sword with a glowing crystal blade. After his coat settled back at his ankles he turned to us and smiled, setting his blade on his shoulder.
'Uncle Zane!" I shouted with joy. I jumped up and hugged him tightly, and he wrapped his feathery wings around me, enveloping me in the cold air he naturally emitted.
"Hey nephew…. I felt it when you destroyed her dragon form…. I knew you needed me…." Zane looked to the ninja. He smiled, tears in his eyes.
"Z-Za…." Kai started.
"I-Is it… really… you…" Cole choked out.
"Zane…." Jay simply said, awestruck at the sight of his brother.
They all had tears in their eyes, and I could tell by their faces that they thought they were dead. Why else would they see their believed-to-be-dead brother?
The three stood and hugged their brother tightly. Everyone smiled, tears falling into the water below.
A sudden roar filled the air, and we all swiftly turned to see Fear lunging at us, her mouth open wide. I gasped and jumped over to the others, pushing all of them away from the giant snake's mouth.
Zane's PoV
I watched as Fear got closer. A few seconds later I felt something push me to the side. I splashed into the water next to my brothers and looked up to see Frost standing in Fear's path.
He was a deer in headlights….
He gasped with wide eyes. Seconds later, Fear's head slammed into the ground. She closed her mouth and quickly lifted her head.
"FROST!" I screamed in horror.
Fear smiled, revealing that her sapphire teeth were now covered with crimson blood. The red liquid and water dripped from her chin.
I breathed heavily, staring with wide eyes at the red fluid that dripped into the water below.
Kai, Cole and Jay shot up, and ran forward with their elemental blades. Fear hissed angrily and swiped her tail across the water, drenching me.
I stood slowly.
My hands shook, as did my shoulders. My eyes were squeezed shut, and my teeth tightly clenched. I lightly flapped my wings, hovering slightly.
A cold feeling started at my toes, and slowly went up my legs. The feeling branched to my arms and to my fingertips. The water at my feet froze. Soon the whole ground was nothing but ice.
I gave a snarl and snapped open my eyes.
They glowed a brightly white.
My wings vanished, but I stayed hovering. My swords blade flashed as I burst to Fear with frightening speed. I gave a long battle cry as I raised my sword over my head.
I gave one long slash down to my feet. It may have been one quick swipe, but it was enough.
The evil snake hissed in agony from the cut in her stomach I made. Fear swung her head around, slamming it into a few walls before it crashed into the ground right next to me twice. I drove my sword into her eye before she pulled up. She managed one last hiss before she turned into a million orbs of light.
I gasped at what was in the center.
Frost seemed to hover in the air, his clothes waving in wind that I did not feel. His eyes were closed, and his mouth slightly parted. His wings were crumbled and crisp, useless. He had a nasty burn on his chest, and a slash on his upper arm, along with one at his waist.
He lowered slowly until he was softly laid on the ground.
He remained motionless in the water.
"Frost…?" I uttered. "Frost!"
I ran to him, throwing my sword next to me as I knelt above him. I placed a hand on his shoulder and picked his head up from the water.
"Frost! Frost wake up!" I desperately shouted.
I heard the sound of splashing water as my brothers ran up to me, crowding around my nephew and me. I felt Kai's hot hand on my shoulder.
"Zane? Is he…?"
I frantically grasped Frost's wrist and tried to check for a pulse.
"Enough!" A voice screeched. We all turned quickly to see a woman standing at the far wall.
She was very skinny with pale skin. Her eyes were bright sapphires, and she had a long forked tongue colored bright blue. Her long hair, colored white, spiked down her back to her knees. She wore a white jacket that covered half of her torso, and a long sleeved shirt beneath of the same color. Her white jeans were tucked into her silver boots.
She X-ed her arms over her chest and closed her eyes. A bright light flashed, and she suddenly had pure white wings just as Fear had. She held a long, skinny sword in her hand that had one sapphire and one ruby engraved in the blade.
"I will not be beat by a simple angel!" She screamed as she flapped her wings. She burst towards us at lightning speed.
Cole flicked his sword to the ground, and up. A huge pillar of marble shot up to block Fear, and she burst right through it with a loud crash. Jay pointed his sword to the sky, and with a loud crack lightning bolted from the sky, hitting the dragon-girl. She flew on, unfazed. Kai shot a fireball at her, and she easily swept in aside with her arm. I shot a jet of ice at her, trying to freeze her solid, however she took a deep breath, and fire flowed from her mouth, melting my stream.
My brothers rolled away as Fear neared us. I remained where I was, kneeling protectively in front of Frost. I narrowed my eyes as Fear raised her sword.
I blocked her blow with my blade, and a huge wave of water crashed into us from her previous flight. Sparks flew form our swords, and I had to charge mine with my elemental powers to stand a chance against her. I clenched my teeth and my hands started to shake.
Crack!
My eyes widened in horror as my sword splintered into four pieces.
Fear laughed as her blade shot down to my head.
"No!" A voice screamed, and Fear was forced into the far wall with a loud crash.
A young man stood in front of me.
He had bright blue eyes, and his white hair and spiked over his right eye. Two long icy horns exited from his head where his ears should have been, pointing to his back. He had two long fangs and a forked tongue. He wore a pale blue long sleeved shirt underneath a white jacket that only covered his upper chest. The jacket was designed with pale blue flames. His pant legs were designed just like his jacket, and he wore baby blue boots boots. His gloves were white with pale blue fingers. He had two long tails. The tail on the left had a long black blade at the end, and the tail on the right had a long crystal blade. He had light blue scales, and whatever skin he had left was pure white.
"F-Frost…?"
I want to ask now so that I know if I have to do some sort of planning. Do you guys want me to tell Asuna's story of when she was an angel and how she met Lloyd? If so, tell me and you can put up a few ideas if you wish. Thank you! :)
