A/N : Ok so here is chapter nine of "Another Chance". I know it's been a long time since I've updated. I got side tracked by another story, but also I didn't really know how to end this story. I hope the way I ended it is satisfactory. I really hate the end cause you get attached to a story and once its over its done. I hope you guys do enjoy this chapter though!
The characters are OOC I know but I hope you guys don't mind. As always please read and review, flames are welcome, critiques are greatly appreciated. Also thanks to everyone that has reviewed/followed/ favorite this it really pushes me to write more and I love hearing from the people that read my stories.
Disclaimer: The X-man characters do not belong to me, they belong to Stan Lee, and this fic is just for my enjoyment and hopefully the enjoyment of others also.
With Logan gone and the baby not being his she had packed her little suitcase. She felt wrong living in James's house, he wouldn't be welcoming a grandson from her. She jotted down a quick little note and left it with his staff. She needn't have to worry about Logan now. He might have wanted her before but now that he knew the baby wasn't his she held no meaning to him, she knew that.
She paid the driver and hauled her bag to the door. 'Home sweet home' she said aloud to herself, yet when she stepped in it felt unfamiliar. It felt hollow. She wanted to break down and cry at this situation at how fucked up everything had suddenly become but she didn't, she had done enough crying in the last few hours. She sighed, she needed to talk to Matt. Tell him the news. No matter how she really felt he was the father and he deserved to know.
Ororo sat across from Matt, as he read the DNA test. She watched him as a huge smirk came to his face. "I had it done a few days ago Matt, I just wanted to know."
He nodded, holding the paper tightly in his hand, his smile never leaving his face, "Do you know what this means Emily?" He stood walking to her seat and kneeling in front of her.
"The baby is y…"
"I was right Logan was lying to you." He took her hand, "I told you Emily, he was envious that we were falling for each other, jealous that you were pregnant with my son."
The look in his eyes gave her a weary feeling, yet she smiled trying to put herself in his situation, "Yes well …" she didn't know what to say. She didn't love Matt and she doubt she ever would, but he was the father of her son, she would bring him into this world in a two parent home. Her son was not going to grow up like her, struggling…
"Emily," he hadn't moved from his spot at her feet, he was gazing at her and she didn't like it," Marry me."
Ororo was speechless, she couldn't marry a man she wasn't in love with could she? Yes because no matter what her true feelings were she would not deprive her son of anything. Which included his father.
Matt watched her, "I do have a ring for you I didn't know if I should have brought it. I wasn't sure why you called me." He looked worried, maybe saddened that she hadn't so readily accepted his proposal.
"No it's not that, "She stood, feeling uneasy, "we don't have to get married because I'm pregnant Matt…"
"I want to marry you because I love you Emily."
She gasped her hand going to her mouth, he loved her, words she hadn't heard since her mother passed away. She felt dejected, she didn't love him, far from it. But she could build on his love for her couldn't she? She could make a home for her son right? She nodded slowly, absentmindedly, "yes I'll marry you Matt."
He hugged her then, planting a kiss on her lips. She tried to let herself go and kiss him back but she couldn't her heart wasn't in it.
"Come back to bed." Ororo turned in bed crutching up on her elbow to stare at the muscled back retreating into the bathroom. "Logan." She giggled to herself and laid on her back staring up at the ceiling. Never had she felt so happy, so in love. She glanced at the closed bathroom door. Was this for real? Did she really snag such a wonderful man?
Logan stepped out, naked and just stood there staring at her. Her beauty radiated filling the whole room. He admired her, just lying there naked staring off into nowhere without a worry in the world. This woman was his. This perfect, sexy goddess of a woman was in love with him. Nothing could make this better.
He walked over to the bed sitting next to her, "Ro."
She turned the sheet falling off her, "hmmm?" she said languidly, her body still feeling the after effects of a night of great sex.
"This, me and you, promise its forever."
She sat up and moved closer to him she wrapped her arms around him, his rough beard brushing against her chest, "I promise Logan, I'm yours for as long as you want me." She kissed him and he pulled her on top of him.
Logan sighed sitting up in his cold bed. Why was he dreaming about that now? He stood and sauntered to the bathroom, taking a piss. He hadn't seen Ro in a month. He had walked away from her that night and took a breather. Or so he called it, throwing himself into work to forget about her, forget the only woman he loved was having another man's son.
He went back to bed laying down staring at the ceiling, her face burned into his mind's eye.
~~~~~~ A few days later~~~~~~~
"I think we should wait Matt."
"Why Em? Do you want to worry about moving after the baby is born? I think now would be good, so you can spend more time with our son without having to worry about packing."
Ororo glanced at the folded up boxes in the corner. Everything was moving to fast. She didn't want to move in with Matt, she didn't want to marry him much less but she would have to. "Can't we wait till were actually married?"
"Em," she could hear the frustration in his voice but she didn't want to sell this house. This was her mom's home, the one woman that meant the world to her. All her memories were here she couldn't let it go just like that, "Ok, whatever you want Emily. Did you pick a date yet?"
She shook her head, he had wanted to get married as soon as possible, but she had been putting it off. She was afraid. Afraid she couldn't live the life of an unloved wife, afraid of committing to Matt when she wanted someone else. "After the baby is born Matt." She had a month at most till her due date, she could coerced herself, force herself, steel herself until she was ready to give her life away for her son.
"Ok, I have to go back to work now Em, love you."
"Later matt." She couldn't bring herself to say those two words back.
-2months later-
"Hush my sweet little man" Ororo stared down at her son, it was the middle of the night. She was used to this now the early morning feedings. Actually she liked it, gave her quiet time with her son. She gently took him out of his crib and took a seat in the rocking chair next to it. She held him close to her breast and he latched on easily. She rocked slowly as he drank away, oblivious to what would be happening in a few days.
She would be getting married, a bitter sweet smile spread across her lips. She had refused at first, because she didn't love him but as the time went by she found herself falling for him and more and more forgetting about Logan.
She let her head rest against the hard wood, she hadn't seen him in month's maybe that had been for the best, but out of sight hadn't exactly been out of mind, she thought of him a lot. When she looked at her son she thought of how steadfast he had been about the baby being his, but the DNA test wasn't wrong.
She stood up when he was done feeding and softly rubbed his back. When he began to snore softly she gently laid him down in bed, and went to her room to sleep. In less than a week she would be Mrs. Holder she wasn't as excited as one would be so close to her wedding, but a part of her was dying inside.
When she had told him he wasn't the father he had been pissed but the month that followed it sank in that it just wasn't supposed to be. He needed to let her go, that is until Betty had come to him to talk.
"Mr. Howlett can we talk?"
He nodded and she came into his office standing, she glanced around seeming nervous for whatever reason he wasn't sure. "What do ya need?" he asked gruffly.
"It's about Emily…" she took a seat now her apprehension taking over, "She is getting hitched in a month."
He shrugged, that had nothing to do with him, "so?"
"To Matt… she ..."
"I don't know what ya think I'm gonna do about it, she aint my woman, that baby aint mine she can do whatever the fuck she pleases."
"That's just it…I ...think Matt did something with the test cause Emily said she doesn't remember ever sleeping with him and you kinda have to do it to get preggers right?"
"Maybe she forgot."
"I heard Matt talking to his friend about it too… his friend that works at the hospital…" Betty let that sink in and she could tell he was finally getting it, when he glanced up, staring her dead in the eyes, "I think the results were wrong Logan."
And from that moment he had launched his own investigation, had another test done and finally today he had gotten the results. It had taken him awhile, lots of money and some old fashion begging but he finally had it. He was beyond nervous to open the letter but he sucked it in and ripped it up. His eyes scanned the sheet, a grin spreading across his face. As he had thought the baby was his, whatever had happened that it showed up as Matts had been wrong, and now with this he had what he needed to get her and his baby back.
He knew Ro had had her baby, Ororo had shown him the pictures. He had desperately wanted to go and talk to her but he had been waiting for that one slip of paper, the proof that the baby was his. Now he had what he needed, he would find her and talk to her convince her, that he couldn't go on living without her.
He left his office and sped down the freeway, making his way to her home. She hadn't moved out yet, even though she was marrying Matt. Which proved she didn't want to as Betty had put it. He knocked and heard her soft voice.
He stepped in and was taken aback, she stood dressed in a long white gown, Betty next to her.
"Logan?" She stood staring at him, her blue eyes shining as if she had been crying.
He was dumbstruck despite her puffy eyes, she was beautiful, "'Ro."
"Umm I'll be back Emily." Betty walked out giving Logan a quick thumbs up before she left. Emily was miserable, she didn't want to marry Matt, and anyone that knew her could see that. She was only doing so because she thought it would be the right thing for her baby but it wasn't. "I'll check on Jonathan." She smiled reassuringly to Emily as she walked away.
"Logan why are you here?" She turned her back to him, suddenly feeling exposed in her wedding dress. She picked up a discarded shrug and wrapped it around her shoulders.
"I need to talk to you, it's important."
"There isn't anything to talk about Logan. I'm getting married in a few days. Can't you just leave me alone and let me live my life in peace." She sighed, she had hoped she wouldn't have to see him again, she had already convinced herself that marrying Matt, would be the best for her son, and now he shows up, wanting to talk.
"Ya mean livin' in despair, everyday regretting marrying Matt? I can't let ya do that Darlin'."
"Just stop Logan, I don't need your permission to do anything, I won't be regretting it, as you put it. If I thought at any chance I would I would never go through with it. We aren't kids anymore we, no you have to grow up. Move on with your life, find a girlfriend, have some kids do something because, there won't ever be an us again."
This was hard, but it had to be done, Logan was a good guy, he deserved to be happy, even if she wasn't. She wouldn't ever expect him to give up his life to take care of a kid that wasn't his.
He stepped closer to her, he could see that no amount of talking, no amount of explaining was going to change her mind so he handed her the slip of paper.
Ororo scanned it, then skulked down into the couch her knees turning into jelly. It looked like the DNA test result but this time Logan's name was listed as the father, "Where… where did you get this Logan?"
"Hank did the test himself this time. The one ya got was tampered with." He stood in front of her now "I told you he was mine 'Ro, just didn't wanna believe me."
She continued to stare at the slip, then up to him, "I...I" her lips quivered as tears surfaced. This changed everything, "I'm sorry." What else could she say? He was right, even if she wasn't aware of it she had been fighting him. "…do you want to see him?"
Logan nodded, following her to the back room. In the middle of the small room the crib sat and he hesitantly moved closer to it, and stared down into it, he was wrapped in a blanket his eyes closed. Logan couldn't help but smile.
"You can hold him Logan…" Ororo stood next to him, their eyes meeting. She gently reached into the crib picking him up.
Logan stood stock still as she handed the small bundle to him. He stared down at the baby in amazement, his eyes opening slowly.
"His name Is Johnathan, Johnathan Munroe." She gently brushed his cheek, unsure of how Logan was feeling. He was quiet and she didn't know what to make of it.
"He's beautiful…" Logan's voice was soft, choked up with emotion. "He's mine…"
Ororo watched the two, surprise on her face, Logan's eyes were wet with unshed tears. In all the time she had known him, she had never seen him, cry, never seen such a look on his face. Her heart melted at the sight, and she felt as if maybe everything would be ok. Their eyes met and she smiled.
A faint knock interrupted the moment.
"Emily...um" Betty stood there a nervous look on her beautifully made up face.
"Emily!" Matt pushed past her and into the small nursery. He stopped suddenly noticing the other occupant. He stared from one to the other. "What's he doing here?"
Ororo glanced at Logan, she didn't want a repeat of the last time the two had been in the same room, she was surprised, Logan still seemed calm and collected.
"Getting to know my son." He eyed him daring him to say something.
"I thought we've been over this Emily, Jonathan is mine..."
At the sound of his name, the baby began to cry. "He's probably hungry," she took him sitting in her rocking chair.
Logan pushed matt out the door leaving Betty behind. "Listen here bub, I don't wanna see ya face around here anymore, I know what ya had ya friend do and if ya don't want to rot in prison ya turn yer ass right around and walk out that door."
Matt stared at him a little dumfounded. "You can't prove it!" that slipped and his hand flew to his mouth.
"Actually ya friend ratted ya out to stay outta jail and if ya smart you would leave."
Matt stood there anger clouding his judgment, "whatever I never wanted that freak anyways." His ego was bruised, she wasn't special he could find a dozen of her. That was a lie. He was in love with her... at first there was no emotional tie to her he just wanted to stick it to Logan, be able to say he had the one thing he would never had, but she had changed his mind. She was sweet, soft spoken and so beautiful.
Logan laughed, "In all the world ya aint gonna find another like her, that in its self makes her special now get da fuck out before I gotta do it. Believe me I aint gonna be gentle either." His voice was low, but there was no mistaking the threat it held.
Not another word was said as matt left.
Ororo stepped out a few minutes later closing the door quietly behind her. "He's sleeping, give him an hour or two and he'll be up ready to play." She laughed nervously.
"Aint nowhere else I'd rather be Darlin."
They ended up outside on her back porch, the sun setting. She frowned her gaze directed to some unseen point at the back of her yard. She couldn't even look at him, she had been such a fool so set in believing the worse about him that she couldn't see the truth, "where...where do we go from here Logan?"
He gazed at her, "where do ya want to go?"
She sighed, "I don't know...we can't just act like nothing has happened, that I didn't trust you enough to believe you." She sighed, "It's not as simple as that Logan, we can't just wish for a happy ending and get it."
He stood in front of her, "Do you love me Ro?"
Their eyes met each filled with unvoiced emotions, "I do." She said with confidence, she had for how long, had she ever really got over him?
"Then what else is there?"
"It can't just be me Logan. I don't want it to be like before, I don't want to be stuck inside a one sided love." Her voice cracked and she turned away her eyes misting over.
"With Matt...?"
"No." she took a deep breath, "you Logan. Not once have you ever told me you loved me. Even before I always felt like I wasn't good enough, that any moment you would move on to the next best thing. I've always felt that you stayed with me because I was willing to do whatever you wanted…and now because of Jonathan. I don't… I don't want you to think you have to be with me because I'm the mother of your son..."
"ya couldn't be more wrong Darlin." he stood in front of her, he wasn't good at this, expressing his feelings wasn't his best quality, "I was with you because I wanted you."
She frowned "Want is different than love Logan. For you my body was all you ever desired."
"No," he scowled his hands buried in his pockets, "You were, are the most beautiful woman I've ever met. Besides it's not just your body, you're smart as hell. No matter what I did, I couldn't get ya outta my mind. From the moment I saw you, I wanted to get to know you." He laughed, "ya didn't want that though took plenty of me hounding ya to finally get a date." He shrugged crouching next to her.
"I've always loved ya Ro, I know I was a fool thinking that you could tell without me saying anything. I'm sorry for that 'Ro."
He turned to her, "And now even if Jonathan wasn't in the picture I would still want you. You don't know how hard it was for me when we broke up, aint proud of the things I did to try and get over you and when I finally did, you came right back into my life and it was like a tease of what could have been."
A deep sigh escaped him and he turned away, "Saying goodbye a second time damn near killed me."
She stood wrapping her arms around him. "I'm sorry Logan, I wish I would have been a little wiser then we wouldn't have been apart for so long."
"I was the fool. I should have told ya how I felt I let my ego get in the way…I…"
"Stop Logan, let's move on, I love you Logan. And I don't think anything will change that."
"I love ya too 'Ro," it sounded weird to his ears, but in a good way, "I love you."
Ororo giggled, "For now once a day is enough Logan," She kissed him laying her head on his shoulder.
-Epilogue-
"Daddy…daddy..." his sweet voice rang out of the intercom.
The two laughed as Logan got out of bed, "Wait for me Darlin."
Ororo sat up letting the sheet fall away, her bare chest tantalizing him. "I'll keep it nice and wet for you." She giggled.
He growled deep throwing on a pair of pants his cock throbbing painfully, "Ya little minx." he said kissing her hungrily.
"Dada..."
She laughed again, "You better hurry Logan, you know how he gets."
He nodded, Jonathan almost always awoke in the middle of the night and since he learned the word dad he called for him.
Logan gently picked him up, the small boy giggling in his arms," dada dada..." Logan smiled down at his son as he rocked him.
Ororo sighed, she could hear Logan's soothing whispers. Almost a year had passed and it seemed now everything was quieting down.
She and Logan had gotten married, instead of a huge wedding, they had a small beach ceremony with Betty and James in attendance.
She smiled, as much as Logan had said he hated his father the two had been civil to each other throughout the whole nuptials. Only afterwards when Logan had taken Jonathan for his nap did she have a chance to talk to James.
As it turned out James had been the reason they had broken up in the first place. The girl she had seen Logan with was actually his fiancé.
James had explained the marriage had been in place since the two had been kids to merge their businesses so in the end it would still stay in both families. After meeting her Logan had refused to go with their arranged marriage. Because of that James had refused to allow him into the family business.
Logan had left to make his own fortune so he wouldn't need his father. He had succeeded, building his own empire. Then and only then did he acquire the other company. Danika had gladly handed it over. She had fallen in love with some else and wanted to out of the contract as much as he did.
she sighed, she still didn't think he was over what his father had done, but she knew if he could forgive her then anything was possible.
The door creaked open and she glanced up, Logan had lost his pants somewhere. He stood there naked, his cock at attention a smirk on his lips.
Smoldering desire erupted into a burning flame as she threw the sheet aside, "you've kept me waiting long enough I want you."
She got out of bed her and went to him. He picked her up effortlessly their lips meeting in a passionate kiss.
He pinned her against the wall, positioning his cock at her wetness. His lips captured a nipple sucking softly, he lavished the hard bud with his tongue then bit it gently.
Her legs tightened around his thick waist her back arched, even though she no longer was breastfeeding, her nipples were extra sensitive, each kiss was pure exquisite torture. "Logan don't tease me…" she gasped out, small pleasure shocks running through her body.
He switched nipples sucking it into his mouth, ignoring her soft whimpers, he could feel her juices leaking, coating his cock. Her warmth inviting, he pushed her up harder against the wall entering her in one swift thrust.
She gasped out at the intrusion his cock filling her pushing her walls to the limit, "Ahh…Logan…" his name came out on a hiss of pure pleasure.
He held her in place, letting her get adjusted to him. Her hips began to move on their own their bodies entwined together along with their hearts. She gazed at him through hooded eyes. His eyes were closed soft grunts emanating from him. She kissed him her tongue thrusting into his mouth as his cock did her slit.
"I love you Logan…" the soft whisper mixed with the sounds of their moans.
"love ya too Darlin' "He grunted out his orgasm imminent, "but right now I love how ya grinding ya pussy on me."
Ororo gasped out, his strong hands kneading her ass, he moved them to the bed, her ass in the air. He wasted no time, dragging her hips to his entering her. His movements hurried. He thrusted into her with intensity, her soft moans driving him, he could feel her tightening around him.
"I'm going to cum…" a few thrust later and his seed spilled into her. Their bodies convulsing. He collapsed next to her, hauling her on top of him.
"I aint ever gonna get tired of that."
She giggled, her body feeling heavy she laid languidly against him, "hmm hm me too." Her voice drowsy.
"Logan."
"Hmm?"
"This, me and you, promise its forever."
"I'm yours for as long as ya want me Darlin'."
Soft snores greeted him, and he smiled to himself, settling in next to her, placing a small kiss on her forehead.
A/N: So that's the last chapter of another chance. Hope you guys enjoyed this story.
