I'm sorry I haven't updated in so long, It's taken me ages to get back into writing. I promise to try harder!

Smithers sat in the hotel room after Alex left and thought of every scenario Alex could run into. He just desperately hoped he had prepared the boy properly. After only a minute of waiting the door opened again. Smithers stood in the middle of the room and watched as James Bond walked in.

"You know," James said, "it's incredibly disconcerting thinking of you as a slim young man while looking at you."

"Well at least we now know which of us is more productive and creative." Smithers answered. The side of his mouth flicked upwards.

"What? Did you come up with the fat suit in your pyjamas?*" Bond asked raising an eyebrow.

"The sketches are in my side draw with the coffee stain from my morning cup of tea if you want to check." Smithers answered. It was James' turn to smirk now.

"Shall we get to work then?" James asked as he walked over to his side of the room. Smithers reverted back to his jolly fat man facade.

"Of course!" Smithers exclaimed rubbing his hands together in delight. He reached then reached down to his bag and pulled out a packet of cigarettes. James sent him a quizzical look.

"It might have passed you by but I don't smoke." James said. Smithers raised an eyebrow so, "... much" he added on.

"This box of contains 10 cigarettes. Five are real; I really suggest not smoking the other five. The other five contain gunpowder in them. They are wrapped in non-flammable material that looks like normal tobacco paper. Three of the ones with the red strip around the base are like bullets. Light the cigarette at the end you would normally light and then aim it at the person you want... disposed of. The ones with the blue strips create a controlled explosion, great for escapes. Aim it in the direction you need and it will cause a diversion. It will take 30 seconds to activate after being lit." Smithers handed James the box and he inspected them both by touch and smell.

"And the gray strips are the real cigarettes?" James questioned.

"Yes, it is to avoid suspicion." Smithers confirmed. He then reached into his bag and pulled out was an iPhone.

"You know I prefer Sony or Nokia, Q!" James said in mock outrage.

"I know, I know but to keep up appearances you have the shiny new expensive gear which people get for looks more than productivity. It's also easier to fiddle with the apps on this." Smithers defended. "I know you prefer to listen close up so I've given you the itouch not an iPod."

James gave Smithers a questioning look before guessing that that was what he gave Alex.

"The apps you need to be aware of are camera, City Mapper, Kindle and Facetime." Smithers continued. "Camera will take pictures which will automatically be sent back to '6. City Mapper sends an EMP wave. If you tap on the information section on the app and then disable the locations setting then it will send an EMP wave disabling cameras within fifty metres of your phone."

"Wouldn't someone notice if all the cameras turned off in a particular area?" James questioned. Smithers fought hard to hide his smile. Alex had asked the same question. They were more alike than either would like to admit.

"It sort of freezes the cameras. Just make sure no one is walking past at that particular point." Smithers explained. "Kindle was a stroke of genius if I do say so myself. Plug in the iTouch into any computer and go onto the Kindle app. Tap download and all the files instantly come back to the computers at headquarters so that we can decipher them. When we're done you'll get an email saying 'purchase confirmed'. What you can then read is the report of what we've found on the computer and the files themselves."

James took the phone and allowed his expression to show how impressed he was.

"Finally there is FaceTime. This is your back up basically. You have Alex's number favourite on the phone, all other numbers are bogus and can be tracked to random people. If called an agent will answer to keep up appearances. You have three options when you decide to call Alex. They are Answer, Decline and Find. If you need back up then phone Alex on this app. If he agrees with the need to get back up then he will press accept. We will then receive a distress signal from you. If he declines then I'm afraid you're on your own. If you call him and he presses find then he can track you and assist you." Smithers was grinning at his genius again.

Bond frowned. He was thinking of how incredibly unlikely it was that he was going to call Alex. He didn't need help from a teenager!

"We have bugged it with a tracking device so we can find you when we need to." Smithers added in. James then pocketed the phone and looked up.

"Well, I must say this is better than just a gun and a tracker." James said in an off handed manner.

"Oh I'm not done yet dear boy!" Smithers cried before rummaging through his bag again.

Smithers then pulled out a shiny, expensive looking analogue watch and what looked like a role of tape used for blisters.

"The watch detects radiation. I thought it was important for some reason. I want to make sure you're prepared for everything. The watch also works like a normal watch. You can adjust the time, set an alarm and there's even a light. As for the tape, it reacts with saliva. If you were to wrap a bit around a wooden or metal lock and then spit on it, it would start breaking down the lock so that you could either easily snap it or you could just wait for the tape to corrode it completely." Smithers explained.

James inspected the watch before slipping it on his wrist. He would establish what the different knobs and dials were for later. James then put the tape into his MI6 issued bag. Finally, Smithers brought out his prize and joy.

"Once again you have a Walther PPK pistol which only recognises your hand print." Smithers finished before handing the gun over. It felt so comfortable in his hand.

James thanked Smithers before turning back to his bag and inspecting his new gadgets. Smithers started walking towards the door. He clasped the door knob before stopping and turning back.

"James, do me one favour." James looked up. Smithers had a serious facial expression that looked almost sad. With a small nod Smithers continued, "Promise me you'll look after Alex. I don't care how good he is he is still just a boy. He needs to be a child every now and then."

James was taken aback by how earnestly Smithers was speaking.

"And don't let your ego get in the way, let him help you. Work together and help each other, you'll need to do that to get through this mission." Smithers finished. James mouth went dry. He said the only thing he could say at that moment.

"I promise."

With that, Smithers opened the door and just before he left he called.

"I want those gadgets back when you're finished" and he shut the door. James let out a small smile. Although he looked different, he still sounded like the same old Q.
