On my way upstairs I ran into Charles. He stopped me by the arm and had this worried look on his face. "Evs, I need to talk to you."
"Not now Charles I need to get dressed." I told him shaking his grip. He gave me this intense look and I could feel him attempting to get into my mind. "That is rude brother."I said giving him a nasty look as I entered my room.
"I'm sorry! Look I can't help it I don't know what you're thinking and -" He began.
I turned on him quickly, how dare he. "You don't know what I am thinking? Well Charles that's how most people feel. Not everyone can dig information from the minds of others. It is a huge violation of privacy." I growled. I hated how he thought he had a right to be in people's minds. My brother had yet to understand the importance or the reality of keeping one's thoughts to themselves.
Charles held his hands up in surrender. "Yeesh, Evs no need to bite my head off." He was trying and failing to be funny. "I just worry is all."
I took a deep sigh and gave my brother a frustrated look. "Charles I am a big girl, no need to worry about me, after all I have been living on my own, traveling the country for some time now."
He gave me a small and sad smile. "I know, but still how am I supposed to know what's going on in your head if I ca-"
"You ask for starters Charles." I told him exasperated and heading into my room. "Now I really need to get dressed. Erik and I are going to go get some more food, those boys of yours cleaned out my fridge." I pouted at the thought of my empty refrigerator. Never has it gotten to that point before.
"Just be careful around him Evelyn. Erik has a temper."
"And you an ego." I told him heading into my room. I loved my brother, but he couldn't walk into my home and try to control my life. I wouldn't allow it. For too long I have been on my own, and if it came down to it, I didn't need anyone.
Erik and I headed out to town, both of us glad to be free of the others and the constricting walls of the manner. It had become too crowded in the past couple of days.
Erik smiled as we sped through the empty streets on the outskirts of town. He was just as happy as i was. "My brother seems to think I need to be careful around you." I told him with a grin spread across my face.
Erik smirked at the idea. "Oh really? And why would dear Charles say that?"
"Because he has control issues." I said sending my own smirk his way.
Erik laughed at the thought. "Well what to do something he can't control?"
"Always." I was eager to hear what he had in mind.
"Let's go to the near by lake for lunch, and let the animals starve back home." He offered, with almost a hint of nervousness in his voice. . . Almost.
My smile couldn't have gotten wider. "Yes! Now that sounds like a great idea."
"Its settled then." Erik said in his smooth confident and might I add, very sexy voice. "We'll grab some lunch then head to the lake, shopping for the groceries after."
