Sorry for not updating in such a long time. I promise to make it up to those of you following this story. Please enjoy the new chapter.
I awoke not too long ago do to a phone call sent from my manager. He said he'll be here around seven, so it gave me a chance to take a nice shower and change into my outfit for the day. A white silk long-sleeved buttoned-up shirt with some of the buttons being undone near the top, revealing my collarbone. I wore a new pair of black fitted jeans that I bought over a month ago along with a pair of formal shoes to match the elegant yet casual theme.
My glasses hung on the bridge of my nose as I sat on the couch inside the living room reading through a different novel from the author Kopi Utatane. It's true that me and this author use to work close together, but that fact didn't make sense if we've never seen each other face-to-face. The last thing I heard from him was a line he said in an interview.
That exact line was, `It is true that I was close to the author of Mr. Improvement, but even I myself do not know what happened to him or what caused his absence. He doesn't reply to neither my or his managers e-mail. ... Hopefully he won't turn into one of those authors who creates a masterpiece without finishing it for the sake of his readers. I hate those "Type" of authors.´ I recalled word for word.
Shoving a bookmark in one of the pages, I heard a soft knock come from the door along with a loud one following behind. "The hell?" I mumbled beneath my breath as I sat my book off to the side.
Soon as I walked up to the door I quickly undid the lock and slowly turned the knob. Once the door was fully open, there stood my manager, Ted Kasane, along with a shorter male with snow-white hair. Both had a grin plastered on their faces as they stared at me.
Before I could even say anything they shoved both me and themselves inside my house.
"You've done it, Gakupo!" Ted yelled as he held up one of the copies of the book. "Soon as we notified the bookstores in Japan about delivering your new volume the news spread faster than wildfire! It so much as hit the media by surprise. Now your fans are stumbling there ways to the bookstores!" The pink-head practically skipped in a circle as he sat the bag full of copies on my coffee table. He took a second to pause what he was doing and pointed to the other male that came with him. "That also reminds me. Soon as Kopi Utatane got the news from one of my coworker, he decided that he wanted to come over with me. So Gakupo, this is Kopi. Though his actual name is Piko Utatane." The white-head bowed graciously before me.
I was honestly lost for words. I would never have thought to see Kopi in person. That and him being so short. It made me want to question if he's actually thirty.
"I thought my ears were deceiving me once Kiyoteru told me you released a whole novel in just one day. That was until I ran to the print room to see the staff already making copies of it!" He then grabbed my hand and shook it. "You had all of us worried after disappearing like that! Hell, we so much as thought you died from writer's-block!" We all laughed from the small pun he made at the end.
Adjusting my glasses I then crossed my arms and said, "Well if you read the book then you'll know why I disappeared. That's all I can really say except for also saying that it's a pleasure to finally meet you in person. We should hang out more often, Piko." I smiled back at the guy.
"We should be seeing each other again in about a month or so. The Ai-Novel awards is coming up quite soon, and I'm pretty sure you'll be nominated within the week. I only say this because I'm already on page twenty-four of your book, and I'm already falling madly in love with each word I read." Piko paused for a moment as his aqua eyes wandered off to the copies on the coffee table. "... This have to be your best novel so far-. Who's that?" Both him and Ted wandered their eyes off towards the kitchen.
It was then that I turned to see Yuma pouring coffee into one of the mugs. He wore a simple green sweater with a pink buttoned up shirt underneath. I could tell because the collar showed. Most likely because the sweater was a V-neck. A pair of black jeans hugged his legs tightly as he wore a simple pair of green Vans as his choice of shoes. ... He practically dressed as a hipster.
I couldn't help but crack a small smile. Something told me he came downstairs long ago ever since the two knocked on the door.
"This is my guest, Yuma. I'm supposed to be going with him to his work in about fifteen minutes from now." I quickly checked my watch as I walked over towards the door to take my car keys off the wall. "It was nice speaking in person with you, Piko. As much as I don't want to go to that award ceremony, I know I'll be dragged unwillingly by Ted." I lastly said to the two as I held the door open for them to leave, along with me and Yuma.
Ted quickly turned and said, "You bet your sweet ass I will! Missing that ceremony is crucial on your behalf. I can't afford you to play `Let's ditch´."
Soon as he was done talking I glanced back to see Yuma walking over. I laid my hand on his shoulder to pause him from walking any further.
Leaning down so that my mouth was close to his ear, I whispered, "Don't forget to get your new book. You might want to read during your break today." I chuckled a little once I felt his body tense up a bit. But that didn't get to me as much as how his face turned red in just a few seconds.
He quickly sprinted over towards the coffee table and rummaged through the bag to pull out one of the copies. "Wah! Th-This is too awesome to imagine having!" He half squealed in delight as he hugged the novel to his chest. "Thank you very much, Gakupo-San." He then shyly bowed to me Before walking out the door with me.
`He's such a cat. I wonder if he has an owner?´
