Epilogue Part 2, here we go! Our very last full out chapter of The Secret of Katrian Hope *tear (of happiness)*
Gracelynn Frost was pretty simple, really.
If one ignored the fact that she lived in a large manor in Arendelle, Burgess, could play multiple instruments but was loyally dedicated to her one true love, the violin, and that her parents were Elsa and Jack Frost.
Gracelynn, or Grace to everyone, had a fairly unusual bond with her parents for one so young. At fourteen years of age, she had yet to fight with her parents or even feel remotely angry at them.
They did everything together.
So when Elsa told her daughter that she should consider applying for the Burgess Performing Arts Academy, she was a little overwhelmed.
Sure, she could possibly be in the same school as her parent's friends children, but she had only played with them when they were little. They were practically strangers.
But, nonetheless, Grace obediently packed her violin into the car for the excruciatingly long drive to Corona.
"Don't worry, you'll love it," Elsa told her.
Grace just smiled at her, staring back out the window.
Everything seemed so large here. The buildings were bigger than the ones back home in Arendelle, and everyone was so unfamiliar.
Burgess Performing Arts Academy was a very large school.
Grace just quietly slipped out of the car, grabbing her violin.
Elsa took Jack's hand in one, and Grace's in the other.
Grace was a fairly tall girl, she wasn't towering over everyone but she wasn't of a tiny height, either. She would often ride at the Arendelle stables or be active in some way, so she had quite a lithe and agile figure, even for her age.
"Alright, Grace, let's go in," Jack said reassuringly.
Grace nodded, clutching her violin even closer.
They first stopped at the practice rooms, so Grace could drop off her instrument for the tour.
When they walked out, Grace stopped suddenly and hung in the practice room.
Jack and Elsa exchanged looks, but Jack was the one who stayed to console his daughter.
Grace looked up at her father strode towards her.
She blushed and looked down at her feet.
"Hey," he said.
Grace smiled shyly.
Why did they want her to go here? Was it such a burden for her to stay at home?
"You know, your mother and I went here," he said, looking around. "We played quite a few songs right here in these very practice rooms."
Grace looked around. It was hard to imagine her parents in high school. As it was for all young adolescents. They were her parents, how could they have been anything more than that?
Maybe, Grace assumed, it was only weird because they're so used to them being adults.
"There was a lot of things that happened here. Maybe it'll be the same for you."
"Do you want to get rid of me?" Grace blurted out.
"W-what?" Jack blinked.
Grace blushed and looked away, but her sudden outburst had happened.
"Do you...want to get rid of me? This is a boarding school, so, I guess..."
"Grace, we would never want to get rid of you. We love you so much," Jack said, looking her in the eye. "This school would be so good for you, though. It's far more advanced than anything we could ever teach you."
Jack tickled her stomach, and Grace giggled.
"I know. I just...don't want to leave home."
"You don't have to," Jack immediately said. "We're just here to look. It just might be a fun experience for you."
Grace smiled and nodded.
How silly to think that they would want to get rid of her.
After all, they were the three Frosts. They stuck together.
"Hey, I have something I think you'll want."
Grace stared at him as he pulled something out of his pocket. It was a tiny, silver, and delicate ring with a single, small crystal snowflake.
"What is that?" Grace asked in wonder. It was so beautiful. She gently took it in her hand, fingering it and turning it over.
"That was your mother's. It was a promise ring."
"What's that?" Grace asked, still staring at the ring.
"Well, basically, I gave it to your mother, making a promise. And when that promise came true, she'd take it off. You're a little young to know exactly what that promise was, but I'll say, for you, how about you make a promise for yourself. Promises are important. They're like snowflakes. Each one is different in every way, made every day. But they are delicate and can melt away very easily, so you have to be careful not to break them."
Grace nodded. She slipped the ring on the ring finger of her right hand. It was a little loose but not so much as it would easily slip off. She'd just have to monitor it every now and then and not make any sudden movements with her hand.
"Thank you, Dad. It's beautiful."
"Come on, let's go on that tour," Jack smiled.
Grace smiled lopsidedly, something she could only have gotten from Jack himself. Jack walked off as she hopped down, but before she walked out, she admired the crystal snowflake ring once again. She twisted it around her finger, and when the snowflake came back into view, she stared down at it with her big, cerulean blue eyes.
She suddenly knew exactly what she wanted to promise.
"I promise that we'll always be together," Grace whispered to the ring.
"Grace, you coming?"
"Coming!" She called back, glancing once more at the ring. Then, she dashed out, her platinum white fishtail braid flying over her shoulder.
It was a good thing she went on that tour.
Everything was so amazing. The classrooms, the dorms, the buildings, the teachers, everything. Grace loved every second of it.
She knew that her parents were quite amused with her reactions to things, but she didn't care. Everything was just so incredible!
She couldn't wait to go here, especially since this was the school her very own parents went to.
All to soon, the tour was over, and everyone dispatched to go explore their own personal buildings. Grace was the only one in the group who would be applying as a music major, so the practice rooms were all hers.
She wandered around in the one her violin was stationed at, observing every single detail about the room. No doubt, she wanted this practice room. She looked out at the number to mentally remember it.
Practice room number 7.
Grace suddenly heard laughter from a couple rooms away, and then a muffled piano start to play a semi familiar tune.
She crept out of the practice room, searching for the noise.
She found her parents in the slightly bigger practice room number 5, her mother smiling and playing the piano and her father waiting with a guitar on his knee. The door was wide open so the music could be heard from anywhere in the practice rooms.
When her mother started to sing, Grace almost rolled her eyes, as she couldn't believe that her parents were actually singing this song. But, she had to admit, they could even make a song from the movie Twilight sound absolutely breathtaking.
(Bold+Italics= both)
Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
Watching you stand alone
All of my doubt
Suddenly goes away somehow
That was when Elsa looked up at Jack, smiling. Grace suddenly felt very small hiding behind the corner and watching her parents play. And seeing the look that Elsa gave Jack, and the very same one he returned. Even as a fourteen-year-old child, she could see how much they loved each other, with a burning passion. Jack began to pick along with the main tune, and it sounded beautiful.
One step closer
Someday, Grace wished that she would find someone whom she loved just as much as her parents loved each other.
I have died every day
Waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Jack's guitar seemed to be heard more than her mother's piano, and it was really something. It made Grace glad that her father had taught her to play guitar. Listening to her mother, she was also glad that she had taught her to play the piano as well. But, of course, she loved her violin dearly and it always came first.
Time stand still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this
Grace knew this song well (not that she actually liked the movie, but, this song was still on her iPod playlist), and suddenly had a grand idea. She smiled to herself at how much of a genius she was, and ran back to practice room 7.
She crept back to her parents, her violin ready to play.
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand years
At that moment was when Grace fully snuck herself in the corner and began to play along with them.
They didn't stop the music, but they did stare at her in a bit of a shock.
Grace smiled at them and gave a small wink. They smiled back, laughing to each other through their eyes.
Now, Grace wasn't much of a singer, not that she couldn't, both of her parents were marvelous singers, but she just didn't find it to her taste. So she let them sing and concentrated on playing along.
One step closer
One step closer
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid
I have loved for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Grace once again smiled to herself, momentarily watching her right hand, specifically her fingers, especially a certain finger with a new embellishment to it, flicker across her violin with the bow.
While her parents were singing, she was whispering to her thoughts over and over again; I promise...
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
To this day, Grace still would never know just how much truth those lyrics held for her parents. All she had ever known was the Jack and Elsa who loved each other to the ends of the earth and back, and loved her the same way.
She wouldn't know the Jack and Elsa who had been best friends, then strangers, then frenemies of some sort, then best friends again, which finally rekindled into lovers. That was their tale, and Grace's was only just beginning.
But they were still family, nonetheless. They had a certain bond that would never break or falter. Grace loved her parents, and she knew they loved her. Always.
That was a promise she was going to keep, no matter what.
Okay, so, this one wasn't so much of a tear-shaker, (although I'm sure there are some of you out there *wink wink*), kinda short too, but I felt like this was just as emotional. I was smiling as I was writing, no joke.
So, one announce that ***YOU SHOULD REALLY READ THIS***: so, there is one final thing that I will be posting, the final A/N. You should really, really read it, trust me when I say that. And, if you don't want to, then at least skip to the bottom part, I have a couple presents for you all:)
Okay, review time!
CupcakeMonkey567: Well, I guess we don't really know. That was an out-of-story experience that I did not include/don't feel like creating. Lol, but thank you. IKR?!
Sure Snowflake: Haha, I thought that was a clever and dramatic way of saying that they got married, I loved that little ending there!
PurpleElephants: That's fine, although I do appreciate the review, it means a lot to me. Thank you for reading my stories, I love it that you do! And, uh, Grace, how did you get on the roof?
Grace; I'll never tell!
P.N.4700; *glares* Well, good luck with that, I sincerely apologize for any damage she causes. Hopefully she'll be a little less rowdy when I officially start her story either tomorrow or the next day, depending on when feel like writing the final A/N.
Falcon88: muahaha, I had the same reactions to my other story, The Guardians, believe it or not. And ikr? I love Anna/Elsa relationship. Except for Elsanna. Like, what the heck? (No offense to the manager of my community) And if there are Elsanna readers out there, you're dead to me. Jk, not really, I still love you for reading my story, but quick question, what exactly are you doing here reading a Jelsa story? And meh, it would be nice to, but it like I said, it wasn't as emotional as the last one. Oh, and the like-a-novel thing, I, personally, thought that it was one of those really cheesy moments where everybody loves because they're just too cheesy but, okay.
Trapid: I'm sorry, but, please don't kill me, except for the final A/N, this was officially the last chapter of The Secret of Katrian Hope! *braces self* please don't kill me! And if you do feel like knife throwing my friend/OC, Grace, here would be a lovely substitute.
Grace; excuse me?!
P.N.4700; well, you're the one with training!
Grace; eh, good point. I will save you this time just because you are about to start my story.
disneyobsessionist: yeah, that was because the A/N I posted for 39, if any of you reviewed on that then it wouldn't allow you to review for the new 39 I posted, sorry about that... But thank you so much! This, personally was one of my favorite songs chosen, I think that it was one of those songs that fit them perfectly.
Hey, again, if you want to give me a little questionare I would be more than obliged to follow through with it in the final A/N so ask away! They can be completely random ones, as long as they aren't too personal or inappropriate, but most of my audience are around my age so I don't think I'll have to worry about that...
Okay, see you again in this story ONE MORE TIME *tear!* and remember, do read the A/N, it actually is vital to the story! (Well, at least my presents are...)
