AN. Hey everyone! Im back again! I was going to wait longer and leave you all hanging but I just couldn't wait! I'm so excited for writing this chapter! I hope you like it! :-)

Valkyrie's POV

Hours after being locked in the cell a huge man comes in. I kiss Jonathan's forehead and whisper in his ear, "I love you so much, sweetheart." The man grabs me and leads me to the door. Jonathan just sits there, staring at the wall. I'm led out and down the hall. I hear two voices, one belonging to Serpine and the other belonging to Skulduggery. I feel tears fill my eyes and I gulp. This is it. The man drags me as I hesitate and I see Skulduggery chained to the wall. He's shirtless and has cuts and bruises all over his chest. As I walk in his head snaps up and his beautiful green eyes land on me. They widen and he struggles against the chains, "Valkyrie! No! Serpine leave her out of this!" I give him a watery smile. The man, not too gently, sits me down and ties me to an old wooden chair. I see tears form in Skulduggery's eyes. He says through his teeth as he grits them, "Serpine. If you touch her I will make your death slow and painful. Let. Her. Go." Serpine chuckles and walks over to me.

"So what are you going to do if I do thus?" He runs his finger over my cheek and down my neck. I glare at him and turn my head away. Skulduggery snarls and struggles once again. Serpine ignores Skulduggery's attempt of escape and takes out a knife. He slices across my arm and I scream. Skulduggery calls my name and Serpine laughs and he slices my arm again. Once again I scream. This goes on for a while until my arms are covered in cuts deep and shallow, short and long. Serpine steps back smirking, "This is getting boring. How about something different this time?" He takes off his gloves, revealing his red hand. Skulduggery starts struggling and screaming frantically.

"NO! NOT THAT! PLEASE!"

Sepine ignores him, points at me and purple tendrils surround me and I'm hit with a wave of pain. I throw my head back and release an ear piercing scream. The pain worsens and does not stop. It gets to the stage were I can't utter a sound. I hear Skulduggery desperately calling to me and pleading and begging Serpine to stop. Suddenly it does stops. I gather enough energy to lift my head as Serpine walks around behind me. I feel something cold against my neck. His knife. I stiffen and Serpine takes a hold of my hair and makes me look at a crying Skulduggery. This is it. Any minute now, I'll be dead.

Serpince laughs, "Any last words pleasant?" I let out a sob and before I know it I'm crying.

Skulduggery chokes out, "I-I love y-you so much. I'm so sorry."

I smile weakly at him, "There's nothing to be sorry for. I love you too Skulduggery. Never forget that." And with that the knife slices across my neck.

I hear Skulduggery scream, "I LOVE YOU!" And everything goes black and I die.

Skulduggery's POV

I cry as I watch her body go limp, lifeless. My Valkyrie, my wife is dead. I call her name over and over until my throat hurts. Suddenly the door opens and none other than my five year old son, Jonathan, walks in. Oh God no. Not him too.

I turn to Serpine and beg, "No please not him! Please! He's only a baby! He has done nothing!"

Serpine smirks, "Done worry I'll make this one quick." I sob as he points at Jonathan. The tendrils wrap around his small body and he screams. I desperately call to him, telling him how sorry I am.

It feels like forever when Serpine finally stops but that's when he presses the knife to his little neck. I sob, "Please no. Please, not my baby boy."

"I'd say I'm sorry but I can't but I'm not and I can. Last words?"

"I'll love you Little-man. You're going to see mammy now. And I'll be there soon. We'll be together soon. Don't be scared okay? I love you so much"

Jonathan smiles despite his obvious pain, "I love you too daddy." And with that, Serpine kills him and I watch his little body falls to the floor, lifeless. My little boy, my baby is dead. My family, the most important people in my life are dead.

As I sob the man that brought Valkyrie releases me and I fall to the ground. I see a knife not far away from it and quickly grab it. I run at Serpine while letting out a roar. Before I can reach him I fall to the ground, paralysed. Serpine kneels beside me and say quietly, "Did you honestly think I'd let you go with a knife right next to you?" He laughs and shakes his head, "They always fall for the poisoned knife."

Pain shoots through my heart and everything goes back.

Valkyrie's POV

I step through the time portal into Gordon's living room and look around smiling. It worked. I'm back. I look down at my bloody nightgown. I notice the Gently is out front and I room up to my room and looking the open door. Skulduggery sits on my on my bed, his back facing me so he doesn't notice me. I see he's holding the picture of him and I that I keep not the bedside table. He stroke my face in the picture, presses his teeth to it as if giving it a kiss and whisper, "Oh Valkyrie. Will I ever she you again? Am I going to lose you again? Please come back." He sounds so broken it hurts.

I run to him and wrap my arms around him, "No you won't ever loose me again," I whisper to him.

He turns and stares for a moment and suddenly he picks me up, hugging me and pins me around. When he stops he sits us on the bed and holds my hand. "So you know?" I know he's referring to me being his wife and mother to his child.

I nod, "Why didn't you tell me?"

He hangs his head, "I was scared that because I'm a skeleton you'd be scared and run away. I'm not the man you met in the past anymore Val."

I lift his head and cup his skull, "I would have been happy. I love you Skulduggery. I've loved you since before I went back in time."

"Really?" He asks hopefully. I nod and lean in and kiss his teeth. We pull apart and he whispers, "I love you too, so much." After a while he asks, "How did you come back? All Time said was to trust him, he never said how you'd get back."

"Well what most people don't know is if you die while in a time that is not your own you immediately go back to your own time alive and well." He nods for a moment.

He hangs his head again and says brokenly, "Its a shame Jonathan couldn't do that."

I smile sadly, "Skulduggery there's some things you need to know..."

He looks up and me and tilts his head questioningly, "What things?"

I smile softly, "Jonathan's alive."

Skulduggery's POV

My baby boy's alive? "What? How? I watched as Serpine tortured and killed him."

She winces, "Well as you know I couldn't tell you were going to die in case it changed the future. The only thing you ever said about your wife and child, Jonathan and I, was the date we died. I couldn't let him die so the day we found out I was pregnant I started planning a way to save him."

"So what was the plan?"

Valkyrie's POV

"well..." and I begin explaining.

Flashback:

It is early in the morning. Tonight is the night Jonathan and I are to die. But I am not going to let that happen. I quickly pack his bags and get his reflection out of the mirror. I make the reflection stay at home and I head to the harbour with Jonathan. We meet Danger and Emerald there who are now moving to America and they are taking Jonathan with them to keep him safe (as I told them about me being from the future and what's going to happen tonight). Unfortunately Lightning escaped some time ago and we haven't heard from him since, so he will not be going with them. I say my goodbyes to Emerald and Danger and hug them both. Then I kneel in front of him and hug him tight. "I love you so much, sweetheart. I'll see you again. Me, you and daddy will be together again.""I love you too mammy," I kiss his forehead and hug him again. We both try not to cry. I stand up and give Emerald two envelopes.

In the one with his name on it , it contains a drawing of me,Skulduggery and Jonathan and a letter saying how much we love him, our good memories and that we didn't want to send him away. In the other with a date on it (11th January 2014), it contains how Skulduggery and I met, how we got married, my time travel, why we had to send him away, EVERYTHING and then I tell him my address so he can come and see us again.I point to the letter with his name on it and say to Emerald and Danger, "Please give this to him when he can read or please read it to him, so he doesn't forget us." I then point to the one with the date on it, "Please do not give this to him until this date. He cannot read it before then." I explain to them how it is the date I will not and come back to my time. Time told me that when you travel in time, the date you leave at is the the date you arrive at, just with different years. For example, today is the 11th January 1615. When I die tonight and go back to my time it will be 11th January 2014. They nod in agreement.

The time comes were they have to leave. I hug them all again and I kiss Jonathan and tell him "I love you" again before they go onto the boat. I watch as they sail away, sobbing...

End of flashback...

I finish and Skulduggery's quiet for a while, "So... he's safe... and alive... and coming here today?" I nod. "But what if I scare him? I'm not a man anymore. I'm not human anymore?" He asks worried.

I hold his hand tightly "You won't. He'll love you all the same. I explained to him that you are a skeleton." I kiss him and he seemed to relax. I smile and pull away, "Now, I have to get ready for when he comes.

I go up and get showered. I then get dressed in black skinny jeans, my boots made by Ghastly and a Guns 'n' Roses T-shirt.

I hear the door bell ring and I race down to see an 18 year old looking versions of Skulduggery from the past, hugging skeleton Skulduggery. Jonathan. My eyes water and I slowly walk forward. At the sound of me approaching they turn and look at me. Jonathan smiles and whisper, "Mam." We run to each other and hug each other tightly. Skulduggery comes over and joins in.

We spend hours catching up. And eating pizza we ordered. After a while I stand up in front of them, "I have good news... I'm pregnant... again."

"WHAT? HOW?" They shout at the same time.

"Skulduggery, do you remember how you came back from war for a week and left again a few days before Serpine took us?"

"Yes... And?"

"Well when we... had sex I got pregnant."

I hear Jonathan mutter an 'Ew.'

I giggle and Skulduggery asks, "But how? You died." I hear the pain in his voice as he says this. I kiss him and explain.

"The same way Jonathan lived even though he was 4 months early. Kenspeckle had a spell so premature babies would live, also if a woman was pregnant and she died the baby would live as long as the mother was brought back within an hour of her death. And that's the spell I used so when I died I'd come back. And now I'm still pregnant!"

I'm picked up, spun around and kissed by Skulduggery. Jonathan hugs me, smiling widely. And then he hands Skulduggery a vile of green powder, "To add to this occasion, dad this is for you. When mam mentioned you were a skeleton, I assumed you might want to be human again. I found a very powerful necromancer ... and there you are!"

Skulduggery looks at it for a while and then hugs us both, "I'll do it."

I smile widely.

Skulduggery's going to be human again!
