2 weeks later
Sayuri wiped some sweat off her brow as she pulled her sweater over her head, a few locks of hair escaping from her bun in the process.
Remembering that she had to meet Kise after practice, Sayuri hurriedly stuffed her track uniform she had gotten earlier into her sports bag. Throwing it over her shoulder, she headed towards the locker room's door.
"Why is Sayu-chan in such a hurry?" Amaya Meino, the fastest girl on the track team inquired, raising a thin eyebrow. Sayuri stopped momentarily in her tracks.
"No reason."
She slammed the door shut behind her as she exited the locker room, leaving back bewildered teammates. Sayuri suddenly felt guilty and considered going back, apologizing, and being dragged along with the girls to a karaoke of some sort. Her conscience shook its head at the thought.
Whatever, Sayuri shook off her feeling of guilt, I hate apologizing anyways.
Jogging to the gates, Sayuri caught a glimpse of rainbow colored hair and smirked.
At least she didn't even need to bother looking for them. Who else had those crazy hair colors apart from the generation of miracles?
Throughout these last two weeks since she joined Teikou, Sayuri became familiar-ish with each member of the Generation of Miracles. They didn't necessarily like her, but they at least tolerated her, and Sayuri was good with that. Some of them, she didn't really want to get to know better either.
Midorima, for instance, refused to speak or acknowledge her for that matter, due to Sayuri's inability to play ball sports (her hand-eye coordination was horrendous.). The girl didn't really mind though, since the shooter's weird persona creeped her out as well.
Cupping her hands around her mouth, Sayuri hollered towards the chatting group of teenagers.
"Oi, minna!"
6 multicolored heads, including Momoi's, snapped around towards where the sound came from. In other words, 6 intimidating gazes bore onto Sayuri's face, making the latter squirm under the intensity.
Kuroko gave Sayuri a curt nod.
"Konbawa, Shirokawa-san."
Feeling a bit awkward with the over polite manners, Sayuri replied with a "Konbawa" of her own and walked over to Murasakibara.
Munching on some chips as usual, the giant looked down to see Sayuri staring up at him. Bending down, Murasakibara ruffled Sayuri's black hair.
"Ah~, Kawa-chin is still as short as usual." He said, removing his hand from the irritated girl's hair. She shook off the crumbs left on top of her head by the giant's large hand.
Sayuri crossed her arms over her chest, "You know, Murasakibara-kun, people don't magically grow by this much," she made big gestures with her arms, "in just one day."
As an afterthought, she added, "Unless they are you."
Murasakibara just shrugged and dug in a new bag of chips. Sayuri looked around. Everyone was chatting casually in pairs.
Blonde. That baka Kise
Dark blue. Ahomine..
Green. Midorima-kun.
Purple. Murasakibara-kun
Pink. Ah, that must be Momoi-san
Light blue. Must be Kuroko
Sayuri scrunched up her face, confused. All the Generation of Miracles were present. So who were they waiting for? Unconsciously, Sayuri voiced her thoughts out loud.
"Well, Aka-chin said that he would come with us to the convenience store," Murasakibara put a finger to his lips, "Aka-chin always buys me snacks…"
"Who is this 'Aka-chin'?"
"He's our captain." Murasakibara replied in between bites.
I gritted my teeth in frustration, the pieces weren't matching up, "But aren't the Generation of Miracles supposed to be five people? With this 'Aka-chin', it makes six."
"Ah." The giant paused to think, "you were counting Kuro-chin too. He's not really one of us, he's our phant-"
Murasakibara's sentence was left unfinished as light footsteps approached the group, emitting a powerful aura of authority. Catching a glimpse of red hair, Sayuri instantly recognized him as the weirdo from her first day.
"You should learn to pick up what belongs to you, by yourself."
Yeah, him.
Even if she wanted to forget this encounter, to hell she couldn't. Those burning heterochromatic eyes would remain, carved into her head.
"I apologize for making you wait." Akashi's eyes flitted briefly to the black haired girl's, "However, there is someone who shouldn't be here."
The redhead's words pierced through Sayuri like bullets, making fury bubble inside of her. So now he thinks he's Mr. Superior huh? Arrogant, cocky, opinionated, self-important bastard.
Sayuri's amber eyes scanned Akashi up and down, taking in every little detail. She scoffed. And he's short too.
The girl crossed her arms and waited. The redheaded captain cocked and eyebrow at her bashfulness and turned to Kise.
"Ryouta, is this a friend of yours?" Akashi inquired. Two pairs of eyes bore into each other, not counting the dirty looks Sayuri was shooting at the redhead.
"Um, yeah, I guess…" Kise said, reaching over to punch Sayuri on the shoulder. Akashi watched the exchange carefully. I should watch out for her, he thought to himself.
Tired of waiting, Teikou's ace cleared his throat loudly, commanding attention.
"We going or what? I'm hungry!" Aomine whined, grabbing Kuroko in a headlock. Sayuri watched silently as Akashi went into mother-hen mode, prying the two apart.
"Daiki, let go of Tetsuya." Akashi commanded. Hearing no response to his answer, the captain added in a threatening tone, "Daiki, are you disobeying me?"
Aomine quickly let go of the phantom player and apologized repeatedly to his captain. A half-smirk fell upon the redhead's lips.
"Then let's go."
Midorima adjusted his specs and started towards the convenience store, Akashi walking beside him and a whole zoo trailing behind.
Sayuri rummaged through the different popsicles, getting more and more frustrated within the minute. Mango, mango, mango…where is the mango dammit! Mang-
"Is this the one you're looking for?"
The mango Popsicle was suddenly held in front of Sayuri. Her eyes brightened like a child's on Christmas day as she reached for the Popsicle.
"Yes, that's it! How did you-"Sayuri swiveled around. Her smile freezing when she saw that the person who handed her the iced treat was none other than The Akashi himself. In the flesh, "-know…"
Akashi's hetero colored eyes glowered at her as he reached into the freezer. Green tea flavor..?
Akashi opened his mouth to speak, "I always win, and therefore I know everything." His mismatched eyes glared at her with such fervor, it was a wonder she didn't have a hole burnt right through her face yet.
What sort of ridiculous logic is that? Sayuri thought as she tried to steel her sorry ass up and glare back.
Obviously, she failed, but Sayuri thought she should at least get some participation points for at least attempting to stand up to that guy, which everyone knew was humanely impossible for anyone outside the Akashi household (A/N : I mean his mother should be able to kick some ass right?).
Even if you were right, Akashi Seijuro was the type to twist and turn the meaning of your words around in his favor and make sure you were wrong either way. From Kise, she learnt that it was better to just accept whatever he says and get on with it.
Fighting back was a big NO in bold (underlined as well, if you want.)
"Don't question me." The redheaded teen's eyes held a crazy glint in them. In that moment, even Kise stopped talking and directed his attention to the two short teens. Yikes, thought the blonde model, what did Shirocchi do again?
Thankfully, Akashi stepped away from Sayuri before any of the Miracles butted in to help. The redhead raised an eyebrow at Sayuri's face.
The latter was refraining from dropping to the ground in a puddle of shaky gooey or vomiting her insides out right here in public, but it was proving to be quite an impossible feat.
If she had the choice, she'd opt for the vomiting instead of the shaky gooey. How else could you feel when a positively insane individual stares at you and looks like he would take absolute joy in gouging your eye out and stuffing it back in just for the fun of it? Scared shitless, obviously.
Akashi turned back to face the Miracles, "Ryouta, Shintarou, Daiki, Tetsuya, Momoi. It's getting late."
Understanding the message right away, everyone mumbled their goodbyes to each other and headed down in different roads in pairs or alone.
Blinking at the normalness of the situation, considering she felt like she was going to get butchered two seconds ago, Sayuri bid her goodbyes as well and headed home as well.
The girl kicked off her boots at the entrance.
"Tadaima." She yelled, receiving a distinct "Okaeri" from the kitchen. Shaking off her coat and her scarf, Sayuri padded upstairs to her room, chucking her schoolbag on her bed in the process.
Throwing herself onto it as well, Sayuri turned to face the ceiling and closed her eyes.
What a lively bunch I've met.
A loud yell came from the kitchen.
"CRAP, SAYU I THINK I BURNT THE FOOD!"
A/N: Sorry for slacking off. Really sorry. Thanks to "Guest-chan", I finally decided to drag my lazy bum to the computer and post this chapter.
