Chapter 14
"Don't cry anymore" Rogue felt himself choke out words he didn't understand as he looked up towards the bluenette. "Who ever said that timelines work like that?" The bluenette stuttered as he could feel his face overwhelm itself with confusion. "L-Levy?" A startled voice whispered as the bluenette looked around to be faced with a confused Sting who was looking towards her.
No it didn't make sense. Rogue blinked at this woman, looking back and forth between this woman and the one standing at the door as the delusions faded. Instead, suddenly it was Levy...the Levy the one that he had known with her bits of black hair sprouting from where the blue's came holding his head in her hands. "Rogue! Rogue! I don't know what to believe right now! Don't disappear..." The seemingly fragile girl said shaking as roots began to grow around them such as a shield. "Let go of that man." Mard Geer growled looking at her as if he were ready to slaughter her upon any sudden movements. "But, Father..I-I don't think these, these people...they aren't bad, they haven't done anything to harm me." Levy whispered as Rogue could feel himself instinctively clench his teeth at her still calling him 'father' what a balant disgusting lie.
Suddenly Mard Geer was on top of them reaching down towards the obviously distraught confused girl. "Fine, if you're going to be like that than bad children get punished." The man growled an inch away from a handful of her hair entrapped in his hand when suddenly a beam of ice shot past them. "I thought I dealt with you a long time ago." A man's voice shouted from the house causing Mard Geer to look up towards his new attacker. "About time!" Sting called as Mard Geer looked in the door, two people were standing there. A man and a woman both with shades of blue in their hair. Gray and Juvia. "Where have you been hiding!?" Sting called as he was already moving, slamming himself into Mard Geer moving Mard Geer away from Levy and Rogue. "Juvia, go to them! I'll go help Sting!" Gray shouted quickly joining Sting in the fight as they constantly adjusted their tactics to each other learning how to battle as a team. Sting was obviously working on moving towards Gray's movements as Gray had automatically become comfortable with working as a team since Sting had, in-training learned how to move so much like Natsu.
Juvia skids towards where Levy and Rogue are quickly trying to determine what the situation is. Quickly she uses her magic to pick the water out of the snow and ice struggling to make sure it doesn't completely freeze over as she attempts to use it to start diluting the poisons. "Levy-chan...Juvia needs you, please anything Levy-chan can bring." She calls as Levy shakes her head bringing up roots that die immediately upon the ice. "Not the flowers, the words." Juvia shakes her head.
"What do you mean?"
"Juvia needs Levy-chan to help!"
"I-I don't know how...what am I supposed to do?"
Her hands were already shaking frantically as she searched for a way to help as Juvia shook her head. "Juvia needs Levy-chan to use Solid Script, anything..healing, bandages, anything that you think would help." Juvia said her hands already working quickly attempting to figure out how she could help through the power of water without accidentally removing blood. "I only know one type of magic!" Levy attempted to rebel.
"No! Levy-chan does know! Levy-chan will always know, because like many things in this world there will always be things that one won't be able to forget!"
"How could you possibly know!?"
"Because there's bad things that Juvia has done in her life, just because things are different now doesn't mean that its okay to forget the bad things. But at the same time the good things that bring everyone joy should be the things that we remember the most in the end! FairyTail is family Levy-chan don't forget us! Please!"
"I don't-" she whispered looking at her shaking hands as suddenly Rogue spoke
"You do." he said reaching up and grasping a hold of her hands to steady them. "Trust in me. In them. A guild is you're family." Rogue begun as Levy's hands shook. "You must remember everyone, everyone has made an impact on your life in some way or another to make you who you are...don't..don't let someone like that take away your identity." Rogue coughed as Levy shook her head.
"That doesn't make any sense he's my father...he wouldn't-"
"He's not and he did."
"You bet I did, but what you've got wrong is I really am her father." Mard Geer interrupted laughing as he dodged another of Sting's blows and jumping to escape Gray's ice field that was quickly forming below his feet.
"It was one day in the pre-winter, quite fascinating how I met her mother. In a forest called Midnight Forest, I do-tell it has burned to the ground now for gobbling up too many people. Ah that woman...she lived her whole life looking for something she never found...At first there was something about how she was weirdly fragile...in a different way than I was used to that dragged me in...but I knew it wasn't that but instead those burning amber eyes that glowed up at me blue hair encircling around her shoulders as her arms shook clenching tightly to her gory axe with heavy breathing from her first kill. It wasn't the eyes of someone who had just killed someone else for the first time but instead it was the eyes...of someone with a goal...determined to live until she found that goal...and even after that."
"Lies! I bet this woman doesn't even exist! Don't get our dear Levy's hopes up to shatter them!" Sting shouted while Gray gave him a look that could kill. "Veronica isn't someone I could lie about, she was quite an interesting human while she lasted." Mard Geer laughed.
"Levy, Levy-chan must remember not to get attached to someone like this even in a familial way." Juvia whispered as Levy shook her head, a solemn look upon her eyes.
"I remember. I remember quite clearly...the picture locked away in his study as if it wasn't something he wanted to see again...One of a young woman and him..." Levy whispered.
"Veronica should've told me...why did she hide you?" Mard Geer grumbled glaring down towards Levy-chan a softness that only appeared for a few seconds. "Get lost." Levy whispered opening up a portal behind him in the solid script words: 'teleportation circle'.
"You've hurt the people I've come to care about too much, too many times for me to understand what you want." Levy whispered as Mard Geer's eyes widened from shock his squared shoulders beginning to sag just a little bit more. "So much like your mother. You'll begin to understand someday my actions." Mard Geer sighed beginning to turn as Sting was found in the background being held back by Gray as they fought to keep control of themselves, Sting screaming "Let me go, I can't let him do this again!" struggling his hardest as Gray clenched his teeth fighting with himself to not want to do the same thing as Sting. "Before I go...Levy, remember...what I told you about the people who go after the half's-like you...they are true...remember you are different." The man laughed before disappearing.
"Is everyone alright?" Lady Obba asked appearing from inside the house as everyone nodded. "Okay, my house isn't good enough let's move everyone to the lodges for the night." She said as everyone looked around nodding in approval. They might've not been accepted by the townsfolk but it was better than freezing to death in the middle of the ice.
"Hey Rogue."
"What is it?"
"Do you think I'll ever get to see my mother?" Levy asked staring up towards the mountain where her mother's spirit had once stayed.
"I'm sure she's around, in a better place...no waiting here anymore." Rogue replied as Levy nodded. "Let's get you down towards town." Levy whispered helping him onto her shoulder.
"Hey Levy."
"What is it?"
"Do you remember anything now?"
"Slowly...everything's coming back slowly...I can remember I knew you had been following me a village behind every night for at least a month and a half."
This news caused Rogue to flinch. "You knew?" He whispered news that he didn't understand, how could she have known that he was just on her tail when he didn't know how far away she was in the first place? "Yup...Thanks for looking for me even when I was afraid of being found...it meant a lot." She whispered as they trekked down the mountain. The rest of the trip in silence until they had gotten there and ordered a room.
"Do you like her?" Sting asked crossing his arms as he looked towards his little brother who was sitting on the porch watching the FairyTail members excitedly escort their comrade home. "I don't know." The Shadow Dragon replied without even bothering to glance towards the elder brother. "Hmm. An answer you don't have." Sting laughed patting him on the head. "Don't worry you'll come to discover the truth when you need it the most." Sting laughed before heading inside the hut to call Yukino to tell him the success of the mission. As Rogue's eyes gazed off into the distance of where the FairyTail members were traveling.
Away with his answers.
